Skizzo 1. Mushtaq Ahmed

Not much to write home about there. Couple of good one's but mostly average. Tufnell is not even the worst spinner in that lot which says it all.

All various shades of good.

Who's Bobby Simpson? @harshad

I'll post more about Gupte in the write up but the guy was class. Sobers called him better than Warne. The WI said he could turn the ball on glass. Would have picked 10 wkts in an innings if not for the WK dropping Gibbs. Picked all 10 in another game though, County or domestic cricket, hazy memory. Guy inspired the likes of Prasanna and bedi, both of whom consider Gupte their idol. He used to trouble the WI greats at their peak, top bowler.

Criteria 12 round 3 results:

Mani: FAIL (Player already picked)
Crappy: PASS
Prath: PASS

And nothing wrong with swann's pick he was great bowler as well.

Sachin Tendulkar may have inspired others to write poetry but he batted in robust prose. Not for him the tenderness and fragility of the poet, the excitement of a leaf fluttering in a gentle breeze. No. Tendulkar is about a plantation standing up to the typhoon, the skyscraper that stands tall, the cannon that booms. Solid. Robust. Focused. The last word is the key. He loves the game deeply but without the eccentricities of the romantic. There is a match to be won at all times.

[...]

And there have been moments of surprising candour. When asked, as batsmen tend to be, which bowlers had troubled him the most, he smiled an almost embarrassed smile and said, "You won't believe this." When probed, he said, "Pedro Collins".

If you can't beat them join them. Welcome to the club!
