The first Cricket sheep thread

@Aldo , I think you won that round buddy. I mean some top notch picks there, but yours was a class apart.

Genuinely surprised no one went for Keith Miller, I thought All rounders would be all the rage. Kapil Dev, Gavaskar ...damn shame that they are not a part of this.

  6. Pollock

  8. Mashud (wk)

Everyone in the top 8 has at least one test century. Even Mashud the sheep.

Pollock, Alderman, Srinath, Sharma (sheep). No out and out great but the first three were very good in their era.

Benaud bowling all rounder. Provides good spin.
Astle batting all rounder. Can throw down medium pace or occasionally off breaks

I'd loved to have had more flair in the top order but with the bowling attack I figured I need guys who bat big.

Boycott - at one stage was the leading run scorer in test history
Gooch - highest FC run scorer ever
Chappell - proper old school Aussie
Richardson - is quite a flair player. Fantastic vs the pacers.

I've got six former captains in my side. I'm not expecting to do well but after the first 3 rounds I'm satisfied with team.

Next stage rules:

1) ONLY Players in the completed 12 men teams above will be available henceforth in next round and subsequent rounds.
2) All 16 teams will be randomly drawn against each other in 8 match ups, knockout.
3) 8 grounds across the world will be selected for round 1. One each from India, Pak, SL, WI, Aus, Eng, NZ and SA.
4) 8 grounds will be randomly allocated to the 8 match ups in first round. You may choose your 11 based on the ground.
5) Grounds for quarters (4) will be declared before start of next round. You may choose to use players from replenish pool accordingly. Although which match up will get which ground won't be declared beforehand. So you choose your 12 as best as you can and then final 11 to match ground.
6) Each day will have 2 matchups. Poll will be open for voting for 24 hours and will open around 13:30 IST (8AM GMT).
7. Toss will be virtual and will be done before start of every match. Playing 11 needs to be finalized before this.
8. For grounds, it is recommended that use the usual 'type of wicket' on that ground, not the very recent type. Also, grounds are indicative of certain condition not players' records on those grounds.

Grounds and match up info shortly.

Will we get some time to do our write up's ?

@NM

When are you travelling? So that we can move your match according to that..

  1. Boycott
  2. Gooch
  3. Chappell

  6. Pollock

  11. Alderman
You have three good to great allrounders. If you can make it to the quarters and replenish that squad a bit, you'd have a good chance I'd say.

Can someone explain the replenish pool?
If it is similar to the Football drafts, then you are allowed to pick a player from the knocked out teams from the Round of 16.

Edit: Exactly how many picks are allowed, I'm not sure about though.

Will we get some time to do our write up's ?
I will be announcing who plays on first day very soon. The ones playing first let me know if tomorrow start is OK. Rest will get at least 1 day which is good enough for write up I guess.
