Meaning they will find a way to feck up a sure thing. Fantastic.

Why are people crapping in their knickers over this? Surely no-one wants the old turn based style combat of FFVII do they? All I got from that line is they're going to make the combat less shit, because let's face it, the swishy screen thingy followed by the "you go, then I go" style of combat is very dated and hardly as engaging as it could be. Just because it was good back then and still has a nice simple nostalgic feel to it, it doesn't mean it can't be improved on.

I'm proper feckin' excited about this remake but to be honest I wouldn't want a straight up clone with updated graphics (which strangely seems to be exactly what some people want). I'd like an updated combat style and dialogue overhaul to go with it. Don't get me wrong I still want it to be FFVII, in story and in setting, but I want to at least feel like I'm playing a new game. I think it's kinda important to go into this thing with the expectation that the two games are going to be two different experiences.

I've been playing FF6 and I'm 20 hours in and have no idea of where I'm meant to go next. I don't know how 90's people played these games without the internet.

As a game it's not as good as I thought it would be. Story seems ok, characters are ok.....maybe it just doesn't stand the test of time? Or maybe I am just a shit FF player

Turn based combat is still great. I like the combat in FF 12 but if it's in a FF 13 style i'll be pissed.

It is fecking brilliant. Been playing it for the past week on my Vita. Great quality and nice to just be in bed or whatever playing it before I go to sleep
Loved it first time round on ps2.

Can you skip cutscenes on it this time? How are loading times?

Nice paced game too, don't need to pay loads of attention, can play it when you have other things to do at the same time.

Absolutely great on the Vita, highly impressed.

Tbh, probably the only better games available for the Vita are Suikoden(arguable, I'll admit including the first Suikoden is heavily biased/nostalgia driven)/Suikoden II.

Not played Suikoden. Are they really that good?

Unskippable cut scenes can be awful. Especially on 2nd playthroughs.

Yeah, though I don't mind it right now for FFX as it had been over a decade since I had originally played it. Only annoying thing is the Tidus laughing scene really.

I believe so. I reckon the first two, and FF7 are the three greatest games ever, tbh. I guess the first is quite dated, and rough being early PSX, but I tend not to notice.

The first is very short for an RPG though, if I was to play it now, I could probably clear it, including all 108 characters collected in 13-15 hours.

I hate the Final Fantasy combat system. I don't want to select my character to "attack with sword" or "shield", and wait for my turn when attacking enemies.

Turn-based battle system are such a put off. Maybe it's just that I'm not from that generation of gamers. I'd rather just beat up enemies Assassin's creed-style with a sword. Instead of selecting for the mage to cast something, I'd rather just click a button and cast the magic.

Then there's Assassins Creed, etc for playing like that.

Some Sony ad has the remake listed for a 2016 release, that has to be a mistake, doesn't it?

Also, "dramatic change to combat, but still recognisable", doesn't sound too promising.
Crisis core fighting it is then.

persona 4, you forgot persona 4!
Is not better than FFX or Suikoden/Suikoden II, but of course is a truly excellent game and one of the next best on the system.

Actually, thinking about it, if I'm including Suikoden on the Vita, I'd have to include all of the first 10 Final Fantasies.

So, FF 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, Suikoden, Suikoden 2, are all above 10, then 10, then FF 1, 3, 5, 10-2, Tactics-War Of The Lion, Persona 4, Breath Of Fire, Vagrant Story(haven't played it myself, but well acclaimed) and Lunar Silver Star Harmony, possibly more I'm not thinking of offhand, or don't really have a personal opinion on, like Grandia.

Hmm, if you include the US PSN, Chrono Trigger and Cross(probably, I haven't played it) are up there, EDIT: Xenogears too maybe?

EDIT: Feck, Alundra, Wild Arms, and Arc The Lad 1/2/3 all deserve mention too at some point.

Nice list haha. Takes me back. Of all the games listed i would have FF7, Chrono trigger/cross, Suikoden 2/Persona 4 as the top 3. Also can't forget about the dragon quest games. 8 is another all time favorite.

Dragon Quest 8! Feck, now that's a game that needs porting to something, would slay on the Vita.

I think it's coming to 3ds in Japan, perhaps they'll push it worldwide.

So many good games, yet you forget the best of the generation, Legend of Dragoon.

It's that time of year again. Bored of everything - still have quite a bit of The Witcher 3 but feel like it deserves attention when i'm playing it and i'd like to play it when i'm in the mood to watch all the cut scenes. Roll on FF. We'll start at 6 and get through to 12 hopefully!7 on

Anyone played FF7 on iPhone or iPad btw? Wondering if it's worth getting.

I'm up to Atma Weapon on FF6 but struggling, furthest i've got before on this one and it's probably one of the toughest foes i've faced. I've seen there is a 'cheat' to defeat it but i'd feel really dirty using that so will try to persevere. Got the FF7 port last night, it's really good.

Equip Gaia gear in order to get healed whenever it attacks with Quake.

Do not remember it to be that strong. Would highly recommend to continue with the game (although you have played the best part of it; world of ruin is good but not as good as world of balance).

What are we expecting the actual release date for the remake to be. I've heard 2016 & 2017 from different sources.

Is it weird that I've downloaded the ff7 soundtrack and am listening to it all the way through cause it reminds me of my childhood. Even weirder that I started it off on the train.

As long as you don't plan to blow up a sector of the London Underground, I think it'll be alright. VII has a great OST :)

Says that one of the CC2 guys was lead designer for effects in FFVIII, which is I guess promising? FFVIII is/was a beautiful game and shows some FF experience. Any one played the hack games?!

I wouldn't mind the episodic stuff, they say they can't fit a game of FFVII's scope in modern style in a single game, obviously the main reason they can't is because it won't fatten their wallet as much. Matters little though, there were always going to be catches, either this, lots of paid DLC, or in app purchaces(€2.50 for an extra All materia now! Gamble real money at Chocobo Square!).

That combat though...... Looks like a Tales Of game, or something. :(
