I bought Final Fantasy 6 (First one I've played) on the Vita and I just turned it back on after 6 months of not touching it. I'm 22 hours in but I have no idea where I'm meant to go!

Last thing I remember is fighting the main guy at some island and then that poker player coming to my rescue in his airship. Why doesn't this stupid game have a quest log or something.

Edit - Think I've found my way. Trying to find Lonewolf in Narshe.

I want to start Final Fantasy VI this evening as I've never played it.

Anyone have any useful tips or sidequests I should start early on?

I obviously don't spoilers but any info that will aide me on the way shall be appreciated

First playthrough, you should focus on the story (unless you feel comfortable to explore the world)
The best tip is the simple one: Once you get out of the first town, re-enter and go into the first house you see, talk to everyone there and learn the basics.

Hard to imagine them keeping random encounters, the ATB system etc, but if nothing else it's going to be amazing walking round all the locations. It'll look incredible, no question about that.

Anybody playing FFXIV on PS4? I quite like the look of it and it's apparently got a monster expansion coming out soon.

didn't play the PS4 version, I did play the PC version though, it was pretty good, just didn't have the time to invest when I played it. Seems to be doing really well too and apparently the console controls are really good.

Yeah, i've heard much the same as you. Quite a nice surprise to find that, going by what people have said, you aren't gimped if you play on console. I might well give it a go when i get a little more free time as the idea of a (good) console friendly MMO really appeals to me.

FFXIV is very good on PC, my favourite MMORPG out there at the moment.

I won't be happy until FF8 gets a remake though.

Sounds good, no experience with it on console at all? Just asking because i thought i saw a post (from fecking ages ago mind) where you mentioned playing it on console.

Nope, never played it on console! My mate has it on there though and he enjoys it.

My reaction to the remake is basically

So, an interesting note here, Sony have known about the full FFVII remake for over a year, and timed exclusive, so likely will be on Xbox and PC too at some point.

Raises questions though, and hopes. How long have Square been planning this? How long have they actually been working on this? Maybe, but not likely, a 2017 release really is possible, 20th anniversary.....

6 >= 9 > 7 > 4 > 5 >>> 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 8 >>>>>>>>>>>> Everything else.

Also, just because it's a timed exclusive, doesn't mean it will be on Xbox One. The JRPG market on that console is terrible.

TN: The comedy or the lighthearted parts -- I like those. I don't want to change it that much. But we can't have these upgraded, beautiful 3D models of Cloud and Barrett, still lining up in a row, jumping forward to attack an enemy, then jumping back to wait for their next turn. That would be bizarre. Of course there will likely be changes there. But if we took away parts like the lighter moments of the game, then it would no longer be FFVII.

This sounds worrying.

Some Sony ad has the remake listed for a 2016 release, that has to be a mistake, doesn't it?

Also, "dramatic change to combat, but still recognisable", doesn't sound too promising.
