7 and 6 are both on my top 5 games of all time. 9 is brilliant too. Have yet to play 10 and heard bad words about 13 (you know, very bad words). Go for 7, the best game ever!

8 and 4 are both good games. 4 is simpler than other FF games and 8 is at times annoying but still worthy of playing.
6 obviously is brilliant but mentioned it on my last post.
On an another note, look also for Chrono Trigger. It isn't called Final Fantasy, but it is a Final Fantasy game in everything bar the name.
Has anyone tried FFXIV: A Realm Reborn? I downloaded it on my PS4 the other day and ran around a bit. It's a very nice looking game but oh, so confusing.
When I played and finished 7 a few months ago it was one of my best gaming experiences ever.

I was pretty close but then i bought a new laptop. I didn't bother transferring save files etc before i moved over the pond so i have the excuse of starting over again, but i haven't gotten around to it atm! I will soon, haven't had a lot of time recently for gaming though sadly.
Have it on PC, enjoyed it quite a bit, it's very fun once you start doing dungeons, didn't find it confusing either if you read everything.

Played it for 2 months. As you said, nice looking game, great music. But I never really got into the game for whatever reason. Am going to give it another shot during the holidays as maybe when I unlock the specialised jobs it'll be better. Then again, WOD is coming out.
Have you played Chrono Cross, Mel? Great game too.
Or Persona 4, also amazing? Up there with any FF game in its own wacky and weird way.

Looked up Persona 4. I've heard about Shin Megami Tensei before, but never played it.
Yeah man, err, girl, shut up. Great game, bit different to CT, you can have up to 40 characters in your party, but just as good in its own way.
Persona 4 is amazing but you need a PS2 or Vita to play it. One of the best combat systems ever imo and a great weird and wacky modern take on the JRPG.
EDIT: Wait, it's PS3 too.
My wallet isn't ready. I'll probably play the ones that are available via emulators first.

I'd go for 6 first. Not that 8 isn't great and all, but 6 is just absolutely essential. Best soundtrack of the series as well.
Will give both a go after exams.
I think much of the confusion stems from me being an old World of Warcraft player, and I'm just not used to playing an MMO with a ps4 controller.
I'm gonna give it a better shot once I tire of FIFA

You've got me playing this again on PC. It's a bloody beautiful world.
There's a free 2 week trial I think. Also, new patch with a lot of new content is coming out this/next week, and the expansion is coming out in Spring 2015. SE are really putting Blizzard to shame re: new content. It's been a year since the last raid in WoW.
I'm going back to it after my exams in a month's time. It's been ages since I last played this so it'll be interesting to see the changes.
Fair fecks, even the worst Final Fantasies had gorgeous worlds. One thing they nail every time.

Yep. The art on Final Fantasy games is arbuably second only to Ken Levine's games (System Shock 2, BioShock, BioShock Infinite). And even that is a big if. Worlds are really gorgeous.

Sound and art were what made me force my way through as much(not much) of 13 as I did. Spectacular stuff.

You really should try to get through until Chapter 11. It's a trek, but the game does open up then. Where did you get up to?
I haven't a clue any more, not far. I escaped some machine city/dungeon thing with Afroman, and landed in some kind of snow/ice place, saved, and quite literally never loaded it up again. I realised didn't give a slight feck about Lightning, or her crystal sister, or whatever was going on....
That's barely an hour in. It's a shame that the game takes so long to open up and for you to choose your own team. It's definitely a polarising game.
I'd swear it took me two or three hours, but I could have been pottering about a bit slowly.
There was just so much to explore..
Ok I finished FFIX last week and as always I was left in tears after completing it. There's just something about these games that resonates with me. I love the themes, I love the styles, I love the music, I love the cinematography. I believe they are some of the most incredible works of art ever created.

Actually, I can't get X on my Vita for some reason, so it's between V and VI.

VI, the story is incredible.
The only reason I've not already decided on VI is that I was half way through it about a year ago and then my Vita was stolen (so I lost my save). Although I wouldn't mind going through it again of course, but it was a lot of time wasted.
