I remember getting destroyed again and again by some big boss dinosaur cnut. One thing I did love about XII was the Quickenings.

The battles in 12 only really get good after around 15 hours into the game, when you have a lot more tactical options to pick from. By then I loved it and the boss battles were excellent.

Yeah, the boss battles were great. I loved fighting the Demon Walls, plus some of the Hunt battles were really good.

Not far wrong that, Lost Odyssey is by far the best "Final Fantasy" I've played in an age.

If my laptop was more powerful I'd try emulating Last Story and Xenoblade, but as is I struggle getting Suikoden 3 on the ps2 emulator.

Xenoblade takes a lot of power, but I don't actually know if there's any laptop that will run The Last Story at full speed on the NTSC version throughout. I think even some overclocked i7 Ivy Bridge desktops have struggled at times!

Highly CPU intensive game.

Oh, certainly would try it without a gaming PC now. Suikoden heated my laptop to near terrifying levels.

Might invest in a tower one of these days, and just hook it up to my TV.

Lost Odyssey was fantastic. I need to play it again soon, i think my housemate has it so i'll just borrow it off him.

Ah shame yeah, remember you saying about that. Pretty scary how hard emulation can push a laptop - I broke two chargers on my old one seemingly because it was sucking in so much power just to get PCSX2 working with Kingdom Hearts. The underside of the laptop itself felt like a radiator.

Amazing to think that in 6/7 years or so things like Dolphin and PCSX2 will be highly accessible and fairly easy to run. Bit like what Project 64 is like now.

I was absolutely shocked, not far off burning myself.

Yeah, that's wild! Speaking of, I think I need to re-download Project 64, and get a collection of the better games for it.

Out of interest, has anyone played The Last Remnant? I bought it a while ago but played for ten minutes and decided i didn't like it (bit judgemental of me i know). Willing to give it another bash if it's decent.

I bought it, only because I saw it for a 5er, but I've yet to try it out.

Same as what I did. Found another that I picked up called Infinite Undiscovery. Playing thought that right now and it's a decent game so far actually. Enjoying the characters.

I've just finished the Shinra Building and now I don't seem to have a cure materia. What is this witchcraft?

You can buy more from one of the next village areas (sort of a village - you'll see when you get to it). Bit of a bastard losing your AP, though.

I can't keep a straight face watching them. Such a bizarre, but amazing idea.

My night's sorted.

^The victory fanfare.

I'm so into this game now. I just killed the big dolphin monster thing with just Barrett because the other two were stuck inside some bubbles that I couldn't break them out of. I'm proper shit at this.

I think I'm almost to the point I got when I abandoned my PS3 save. Although I do seem to remember getting to some sort of holiday resort type place, or am I making that up?

That's what it was called! I think I may have even got past it. It's all in this thread somewhere anyway because I'm sure I was make them same sort of idiotic posts the first time round.

I've never played the Chrono series. I know how highly they're rated but do you reckon I'll get the same buzz or have I missed the boat a bit?

I only played the first fairly recently too, got well into it too. I'd suggest if possible play it handheld, where graphic expectations aren't as high, but it's great regardless.

I played it earlier this year and while I probably didn't think of it as highly as some I still thought it was a bloody good game. The story, and soundtrack are easily enough on it's own to get you through it, even if the gameplay doesn't seem as revolutionary, though still great, now.

Played it a few months back and it is a great game. You can play it on an emulator, with the added bonus of saving the game whenever you like.

Just left Cosmo Canyon. This game really is fecking great, isn't it? And you're all about to tell me it only gets better, I assume?

I think it's perfect on the Vita as well. I. Clocking up plenty of hours without actually dedicating too much time to it, I can just drop in and out as I please. Any idea if the Vita will get Final Fantasy X? Now that would be amazing.

Yes, it keeps getting better, yes the Vita is getting X, in HD!

Also agree it's perfect on Vita. Handhelds are the best for RPG's.
