Ha, oh yeah...I thought that was a technical demo or something. FFs never fail to deliver on the visuals, that's for sure!

I thought the same until I saw it... Watching that through it seems there is more news on it.. I'm on square enix site which also talks of a new 'fall release' I'm not too in the loop regarding running jokes of dates pushed back... last time I waited for a game to come out that never happened was Dungeon Keeper 3 so I don't bother waiting for games, I wait to see what IS out , still will try my best not to get excited over this

I'm caught in two minds regarding how good I want it to be. On the one hand, it would be absolutely immense if Square-Enix returned to form on the RPG front and churned out a quality FF. If that does happen though, I'm gonna have to get myself a next gen console almost immediately and splash a load of money I don't have!

I thought they said according to the site that it was just before the nextGen, that was apparently the reason it was being held up but with NextGen being pushed back, I thought they have decided it will come out usual PS3 etc and then if/when nextgen comes out soon after, they will think about re-releasing for that platform... or is what I took from it ..

The graphics look absolutely obscene in the trailer. Maybe the 360/PS3 can handle that but I've no idea. Couldn't really find anything about it today - only that it was introduced as a next gen title.

Does look amazing as usual but just hope there's a bit of depth to it this time round.

The concern after checking up the figures is that FF13 and FF13-2 sold very well relative to how good a set off FF games they were, so I just fear all the effort is going to go into the aesthetics again at the expense of everything else.

Quite like the change in setting in that video, though. Nothing against a more familiar or modern FF scenario by any means...7 and 8 pulled it off well. Cool to see Red XIII and Valefor type things, too. :D

Hopefully the new one has a decent amount of humour injected into it. Was thinking about it the other day and both XII, and XIII were so serious and could only think of a couple of moments in where they tried to bring about a laugh. Considering these games can last 50+ hours, a change of tone every now and then helps give the player a break.

Apologies here because i haven't read much of what you've been discussing but, that youtube video is the new FF? Really? It was shown at the PS4 launch i think as a sort of tech demo and as far as i know it was shown before that at another expo and neither time it was advertised as an FF or an FF trailer. In fact at the PS3 launch, the head FF guy fobbed everyone off and said wait til E3 and we'll announce something so i dunno. Seems weird if that's the actual new FF trailer now.

No worries, I keep reading that it is an actual trailer but I really don't know to be honest. Did think it was a technical demo when I first saw it.

Yeah it's cool, i was just really confused when i saw that video because like i said at the PS4 launch it was strictly used by Square as a 'look at what we can do' and after that the FF guy came on and said 'we'll announce something at E3' and pissed everyone off

Urghh, they're a nightmare. I am sort of sold on that middle-eastern looking setting and wouldn't mind FF going in that direction but knowing them they'll probably just end up bringing out a 3rd sequel of FF13. I still cannot believe that FF13 is going to have at least two of them... it drives the nerd in me crazy!

I've only met one person who's played it and he pretty much grimaced with disgust when I asked him how it was...

At least Uematsu had a role in it, mind. :D

Think I posted them already but the main theme and in particular the second one are quality.

Ahh yeah, A Realm Reborn. My apologies I thought you were talking about that one in the demo/trailer thing up there. Think with that they're trying to sort 14 out like they tried to do with XI (I think they are still releasing add ons for that even now). The whole thing's a bit of a mess - they keep adding sequels, remakes or add ons to games when it'd be better if they just be moved on and tried to create something good in the first place.

Lightning Returns is actually the second sequel to 13. :wenger: You could understand a sequel with 10 given how incredible the storyline in that game actually was, but two for 13 is just taking it to what I'm guessing is a previously unseen level of milking. I've not seen Redlambs' views on this but I can only imagine the extent of the furious fist shaking that must go on here.

The Fabula Nova Crystallis thing has been a feck up from start to finish. What's frustrating is that the one that is actually meant to be pretty good - Type 0 - was only released in Japan.

Ahh anyways, I'm whining about the state of FF again. Must grow up...

They're announcing something actually new at E3 aren't they? Or else they'll announce the date they will announce something again.

Just to confirm then, this FF8 on the PC is the same as the real deal isn't it? I know it's been said but thought I'd be absolutely sure.

I'm thinking of playing it soon and the only difference I see is the difference in the soundtrack. What the hell have they done to the soundtracks on the PC versions of FF7 and 8?! I know there are mods to fix it and get the proper OST in there but that's a disaster by comparison in terms of quality.

Good stuff, will get on that soon. Couldn't be arsed digging out the PS2 again and I'm not entirely sure it still works either way.

Got a tonne of hints for this game. :D It'll basically ruin any challenge whatsoever though and involves using Quezacotl's Card-RF system. Let me know if you fancy them.

I love all the cards stuff and the magic and I use all the refining bits, I'm currently waiting for Forbidden-F so I can turn my Ultima cards which I refined into Ultima Stones into Ultima...

Never mind getting feck knows how many Elnoyle card's for Squall's last weapon ^^

What was you going to say about Card-RF?

Looking at where you are in the game, I don't think it's relevant any more! Sorry, a bit of an anti-climax. I was going to say pretty much at the very start of the game it is possible to do absurd damage and have ridiculous amounts of health. It sets you up for pretty much the whole game.

It involves refining Curagas from tents (Siren's refine ability) and tornados from windmills (gained from refining abyss worm cards). Two characters can immediately put the tornados on Str-J and deal all sorts of damage.

If you're already talking about Ultima then I think it's fair to say you're set. :D

How many hours is this game long (VIII). Can I finish it by the 6-th April (for 10 days)?

You could definitely finish it in that time, Revan. Make sure to change the music by the way before playing! Bit dramatic but I was genuinely shocked when I heard the OSTs on the PC version of 7 and 8 the other day. Probably seems daft but the difference in quality and atmosphere is absolutely enormous.

So, you think it is doable finishing it in 10 days? How many hours it took you to finish it?

How can I change the music?

I misread your post, I thought you said by the 10th...

I think 10 days is possible if you go a bit mental with it. 2 weeks preferably because there is a quality sidequest that spreads throughout the whole game and lasts indefinitely. It combines superbly with the playing experience and aids you massively throughout.

I think it's called the 'Roses and Wine' mod. This is what I've found so far but I'm still looking through it.

This is exactly what they done with the PS3 launch and the FFVII tech demo, and they keep humming and hawing about the remake, feckers.

What happened to the new FFX version that was supposed to be coming out for PSP and PS3? HD remake or something?

That latest tech demo looks incredible, but they always look incredible. Games haven't been good since X, IMO.

It seems that works going by the responses in that link. I'm going to hold off on going through this just for now but I'm glad that there's a workaround for it.

It looks that I need to postpone it, I don't think it is a good idea to rush it and miss some quality sidequests. These are the games players should try to enjoy as much as they can. Final Fantasy VII took me about 55 hours and from some googling I made, it seems that this needs about the same amount of time.

Thanks for the reply (and the link). The torrent link which that guy posted doesn't lead anywhere though, but I managed to find it in piratebay. There are no replies there, but it seems that it from that same guy, haven't tested it yet though.

If you are going to use it, tell me if it's working.

If you want to play FFVIII properly FWIW, you will never be able to do everything properly including cards/ side gfs and side quests/ chocobo world etc you will never do fully by 10th May unless you don't work or sleep or cheat basically...

If you want to play it doing everything I think 100-120 for someone who know's what they are doing (or someone with a brain), if you want to flick through you can probably clear it in 60 by skipping everything but it would be a very limited experience of the game IMO.

There is a really good walkthrough if anyone is interested, just to give you hints about certain bossses containing certain weakness/ draws or things to look out for like the UFO sightings..

Yeah, I decided to postpone it. There is no point on rushing a FF game.

100-120 hours seems to long, I finished FF VII in about 55 hours and did everything except those two optional insane bosses. I don't care to level up to level 99, if I can do the side quests and finish the game without leveling to maximum then no problem. Anyway, 50-70 hours seems reasonable from what I read, which means that there is no chance to play it right now.

I use in Final Fantasy games a guide, just to check if I am missing anything that I shouldn't or there is somewhere a side quest which I haven't heard.

Tbh, I'm not one that worries about every single bit in every game either, nice to see it all though,or the better part of it at least.

I missed a few of the bonus stuff in 8, fighting the Emerald and Ruby bosses in 7, and there was no chance in hell I was cutting through 9 in less than 12 hours to get Excalibur 2.

Will do. I'm probably going to put it off for a bit too to be honest but will update you if I get it to work.

Ahh, I've just read up more about Planescape: Torment and decided that I have been an absolute retard to live for 21 years on this planet without having played it. Sorry, Revan! Will come back round to FF8 after that. :D

I'm getting giddy reading up the reviews about it. Amazingly, the sequel to it has been completely crowd-funded to the extent that it has reached over 4 times the original amount required to make that game.

I started playing through Planescape a few weeks back, unfortunately I'm not allowing myself to play videogames at the moment because I'm trying to lose weight and they lead me back to old habits. P:T is awesome, at least upto the point I got upto.
