Here´s a better version of the Versus trailer.
That looks brilliant, but so did XIII and I've never felt more let down by a game than I did with that.
X was the last great FF game, and that was a decade ago.

The modern look to everything worries me about Versus, the skyscrapers, suits, cars etc.
Eh?
That doesn't make any sense!

So I gave XIII another go in the first weekend in months I've actually properly had the TV to myself and ... I actually like it now. When I first played it I'd actually gone through most of the crappy linear shit already. I only had about 3-4 hours of it left this time, and it was pretty good because I'd finally unlocked the entire battle system. Now I'm out in the open world I'm enjoying it a lot and liking the battle system and such much more. I may actually go and finish the thing now.
I still think that along with X-2 it's been the weakest one I've played, and I've played and finished all from IV onwards, cept that stupid fecking MMO.
Final Fantasy XII was the last FF game I played. I didn't find it as bad as the reviews given. The graphics for a PS2 engine were very impressive actually and the gameplay is something you have to grow into.
You can pick it up for next to nothing in game shops nowadays. I saw GAME flogging it away for £3 in the pre-owned section.
Wait, there's an open world in that pile of shit?
I actually really enjoyed XII, I can understand why it wouldn't be to everyones tastes, but it's probably the least linear FF I've played since the PS days. The battle system takes a while to get going but certainly not nearly as much as XIII. Very enjoyable game.
Eventually, Chapter 11 onwards after 25ish hours of gaming.
I bet it won't be massive, seeing the graphics, they can't afford to have a world like VII build like that, at least not yet.
Spoil me Cina, does it worth the 25ish hours?
Dunno mate, I've only played a few hours of it so far and I haven't tried to progress the story at all. There's little missions you can do to run around killing bosses to get items and stuff so I've just been doing that and I've found it pretty good fun. You also get access to every battle class for every character so it makes the leveling system a lot better and there's a lot more freedom there too.
I actually enjoyed the last 4 or 5 hours of the linear play too, not sure why, not a lot changes but the battle system is much better and it's not just a case of pressing attack, attack, attack constantly.
I personally don't really think the games main downfall is it's linearity anyway. I remember back to FFX which didn't have a world map and was very linear in itself up until you got the airship. I think the main problem with this is the lack of towns, it's just constant running through enemies. One of my favorite aspects of FF has always been reaching a town after battling your way through woods and dungeons and stuff and then getting to do little sidequests for people and go to all the shops and stuff like that. With FFXIII it's literally just 20 hours constant of running through enemies, and the only place you shop is at save points.
Wait, there's an open world in that pile of shit?
All indications point to versus being a FFVII type of game with a KH battle system.

I played through both on the GBA, i didn't realise they'd made PSP versions. 2 would still annoy me with it's levelling system.
I'm guessing you could buy them off the PSN but only play them on the PSP?
