for the console version just lower the difficulty which i'm fairly certain you can do during the game, beat the boss then put it back up if you like

I never thought of this.

I love you.

Yep that should work, and if the trophies work the same as achievments on pc then you should be able to put the difficulty up to hard or nightmare right before you go into combat with them and still unlock the achievment instead of having to play the whole dungeon on those difficulties.

VII is the classic title and received the highest praise but for me, I put most hours into and enjoyed IX the most. Really haven't come across many who agree with me about that but everyone generally seemed to enjoy it

i liked IX. good return back to the 'character classes'. did you ever get excalibur 2 for IX?

I enjoyed IX and some of the characters, but just not as much as the previous 2 games. I havent replayed it and as such I've forgotten some of the story and what not. But if I recall correctly Kuja or whatever his name is kinda comes from nowhere as the end boss doesnt he?

Nah, Kuja is the main bad guy throughout. You have the climatic battle with him and then straight after, Necron (?) turns up saying he's gonna blow up the universe. You've never seen him before but he's the main bad guy, a very strange ending.

Bit likw VIII, Eden and Seifer are the 2 nemesis throughout, all of a sudden you get this Ultimecia on the last disk.

I didn't see the big deal with Ultimecia, i thought it was made pretty obvious that Edea wasn't being her normal self throughout the game. And seeing as she was possessed by Ultimecia at least she was there throughout the game.

Well it wasn't as strange as IX but it was still a bit out of the blue. Though it was far from the most idiotic plot line in VIII...

They were all raised in the same orphanage and forgot each other because of the GFs :wenger:

That might be a strange reason for them to forget but that whole bit in the basketball court of Trabia i thought was brilliant. At least they mentioned the side effect of GF's stuff earlier on in the game and it wasn't just a bolt from the blue.

Versus looks amazing, Agilo looks a bit like Dirge of Cerberus which i'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Actually i am sure, i hope it's not too similar to Cerberus as i thought that game was terrible.

Picked up Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light for DS earlier. Only played about an hour on the train but I like it so far, really charming visuals and nice music, story seems very simple but it has a Job system so that makes up for it.

Square have been holding a conference today, although I've not had chance to follow all of it properly yet.

2011, PS3 & 360.

Versus still seems to be PS3 only.

That doesn't give much away for XIII-2 does it! Other than Lightning will be in it. Let's hope it's an improvement on the last FF to end with a -2, although i did enjoy the battle system and music in that.

XIII was a bit of a dissapointment but the battle system was sort of fun towards the end, add a little more control to the battles, throw in some (or 1 at least) towns and side quests and it might be a good game. X-2 was absolutely horrible character and story wise but the battles made up for it, history probably going to repeat itself.

Now where the feck is my Final Fantasy VII-2!

Nomura seems to be suggesting that his team is building this as if it's only going to be for PS3, so they won't be cutting any corners, they'll use the full 50GB of the disc, and they'll optimise the engine for Cell, but it's completely up to Square Enix management if they want to try and get another team to port it, but Nomura and his team is having nothing to do with it.

Got a ps3 for xmas and bought Final Fantasy XIII for £15.

I think i'd hyped it up in my head. i'm probably about hours in, but it's incredibly linear with little to do than follow the inevitable path through the stages.

Visually i think it's amazing, but pretty disappointed in terms of gameplay so far - it's not had a look in since i got Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Hopefully, this will be the first since X to place a huge emphasis on the development of characters in terms of their history and personality. I'm also hoping that this one gets it right in terms of depth of storyline - something which seems to have been sacrificed in 12 and 13 for CGI and other features, not to mention the fact that interesting, rewarding sidequests now seem to be a thing of the past.

I mean, when was the last time we had a sidequest to rival that of the chocobo ones from 7 and 9, say? What about one to rival the card game from 8, or the monster arena from X? These were all feckin' collosal, and added a huge dimension to these games.

I honestly cannot wait for this game. The gameplay, The CGI, The fact that Nomura has been so central to the games development, in addition to its PS3 exclusivity..... all the makings of a "Game of the Year "

I might give XIII another go. Nowt to play at the moment. I'll try persevere through the shoddy linear parts and get to the good stuff.
