There's a new demo available on the PS store for anyone interested.

They can truly feck off with that shit. How long has it been since that first trailer, nearly a decade? And then they trot new trailers out ending with the protagonist saying (translating to english): "thanks for waiting broz, mou sugu da (just a bit longer/almost there)" with the camera angle panning to the back of him and zooming out dramatically. That was nearly two years back.

Now we get another shite demo, aye aye yippy yippy yay. Laziest cocknoses in japan.

Just played the platinum demo. Felt like I was playing Kingdom Hearts instead of Final Fantasy. It felt pretty clumsy and the spell targetting is simply awful. The visuals aren't anything special and the performance was pretty poor. I know it's just a demo, but it didn't make a very good impression on me.

Thought it was shite to play(actually would far prefer how Kingdom Hearts plays if it has to be action-ish) but good looking, seeing the massive summons in the distance was pretty cool.

Not much bothered about it all in all, though.

Currently replaying through VII on IOS. It never gets old. One of my few gripes with the game is how ridiculously easy it is though. The materia system is wonderful though it borders on pointless. For all the customisations you can do they're really isn't much point as you can pretty much just go with 'attack' for the majority of fights. I know FF's aren't known for their difficulty, and I don't want Dark Souls level of difficulty, but a challenge would be nice.

I hope they up the difficulty in the remake.

You literally do not see her in the game before her castle. Doesn't matter if she's referenced or controls another character.

I haven't played VIII in a while (though I plan on doing after VII) so my memory may be a bit sketchy, but Ultimecia is from far in the future so there would be no way to meet her prior to when you actually do as that is when Time Compression has happened?

The whole story would fall apart if Ultimecia appears before she did.

This is correct.

You don't see her, but you hear about her. Which is fine, IMO.

In fact, in many good games you don't see the main antagonist (or you see it very briefly) until the end of the game.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 (PC) bought for £10.23 on GMG thanks to a pricing error  The bargain is real.

SE has just announced the PS4 remaster of FF XII.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...al-fantasy-game-is-finally-getting-a-remaster

It seems like it will be based on the international version which was never released outside of Japan. I don't know the exact details but that version is said to have such significant changes it's almost a different game. According to its reception most changes would appear for the best. In any case, I'm absolutely delighted as I'm a massive fan of FFXII, and getting an even better version is a bonus. It'll release somewhere in 2017. Which instantly makes it my most anticipated release in that year.

"Excitingly, it seems the Final Fantasy 12 remaster will be taking its cues from the International Edition of the game which never saw release outside of Japan, introducing tweaked combat and a new Zodiac job system."

I'm not making this shit up.

I know you're not, just laughing at Square giving it such a daft name, like American sports teams calling themselves "world champions" despite being the only country involved in competition.

Game play:

Love that you can play music from previous games. Garden music from FF8 is one of my favourites.

The music is a nice touch but other than that this video just doesn't impress me at all. Pimping your ride, dressing up your characters, combat that still looks like a bit of a mess, nothing I've seen (or played) of this game so far fills me with any confidence. Then again I thought FFXIII looked promising in the trailers and look how that turned out. Comfortably the worst FF game I ever played. Who knows, the game may surprise me, but my expectations are pretty low at the moment.

Yeah, not expecting much from this, all it's managed is to make me ever more wary of the FFVII remake.

Oh definitely, I don't have any faith in them pulling that off either. In fact, the only thing I trust Squeenix with at the moment is HD remastering old games. Their only release I enjoyed the last few years was FFX/X-2 HD and their only upcoming project I'm looking forward to is FFXII HD. That says it all.

I read that review yesterday. It's a fairly positive review apart from one of the early lines refers to the game being 'not bad'.

I expect a lot more than 'not bad' from Final Fantasy.

(They also refer to it being good in the same article, but 'not bad' hardly gets anyone excited).

This trailer is feckin great...and very interesting for anyone who's been following the storyline/watched the Kingsglaive movie.

I watched Kingsglaive and still have no idea what I was watching then

 That's kind of what I mean, this is a bit of a headfeck. Kingsglaive set it up as..
Good old King Sean Bean sent his son away from certain death seemingly setting it all up for him returning one day bringing down the evil empire and saving Luna from their clutches....but there some mad shit going on in this. The King talking to/making a deal with some sinister...thing. Noctis turning into a Demon and trying to kill Luna.

Maybe something to do with those old sprits that let Nyx use the Kings ring (ooOOoh) but at the cost of his life.

I see it now! Intriguing.

These new style Final Fantasy games look naff to me. Totally stripped away the things I liked about the series.

Officially gone gold.

Also for anyone else who has ordered the UCE off the SE store. They've sent out emails saying they will take payment tomorrow (31st October), so make sure you're all sorted!

1 month to go

For anyone that's interested, there is a 3rd demo out called "Judgment Disc" but it's only exclusive to the Japanese PSN store (So you'll need a Japanese PSN account to get it). It's essentially a thick chunk of the beginning moments of the game (Chapter 0 to Chapter 1) but obviously with the final build for players to play and "Judge" before making a purchase. I believe it's around 15GB and I think it offers PS4 pro support. It is of course in Japanese. At the end of the demo you're shown yet another fantastic trailer. However, this one is potentially very spoiler heavy, so be warned. It doesn't give away the plot or anything like that, but it gives you enough clues so that people who've followed the lore so far will be able to start piecing things together, so view it at your own risk. Type in Final Fantasy XV "Judgment" Trailer on YouTube and you'll get it.

On the subject of spoilers, we are now rapidly approaching release date, so if you are someone who's been waiting 10 years like this game (like me!) and you want to know as little as possible... Well use the internet with absolute caution. Especially YouTube and gaming forums. People will have their hands on the title as early as late next week so spoilers will begin to pop up everywhere.

It's being sold in a lot of countries already. Should be some impressions soon about whether it's good or not.

Anyone picking up the remastered FFXII for PS4?

Will be picking it up later and starting it tonight. From the little I remember form playing it back when it was released, I thought it was a great game with perhaps a slightly underwhelming main character. Never did manage to complete it, though.

Would have been much better if Balthier was the main character, he was great.

Wasn't Brashen originally the main character?
Director changed mid way through and they decided to swap to Vaan or something?

It felt like an ensemble cast when i played it, i never really used Vaan
