I saw that live and didn't believe that I did see it, poor Alonso :(
Classy toad.

Alonso will end up at McLaren and Jenson will be done.

Shame because Jenson is my favourite driver and an absolute chap, but he demands a salary (high one too) and you've got young drivers bring massive sponsorship money instead. McLaren want a long term plan and Magnussen is young enough to make that plan a reality.

Yep I think thats how it will go, Button's attitude in the interviews at Russia were that of a man being forced out and if that happens I think he will just retire instead of having to look down the grid for drives. Go do Le Mans, he is perfect for that.

Don't they have a highly rated young test driver as well
I hope jenson stays but it's looking less and less likley... Though is kimi definitely staying at Ferrari next year - he has been disappointing so far so I'd love to see him there - but that's a very very long shot

3 years and their progress has been practically zero, its been doomed in its current form for a while now. Same goes for Marussia although they atleast scored points and are on track to finish above Sauber this year, the could progress next year......they have to really.

I know he sold the team but Tony Fernandes has not had a good run in sport has he. Failed with Caterham and hasn't been too good for QPR either.

I wouldn't mind more competition at the front of the grid when you have a single dominating team. If you had 3 Mercedes racing against each other, the races would be tighter and they'd all be taking points off each, so the chasing pack would be be closer in the standings. You'd need to do something about team orders, though. And maybe introduce some kind of forfeit like a smaller allocation of tyres or something.

Well Red Bull are a 4 car team ;)

I hope it doesn't happen though. And surely there isn't enough time for teams to get it sorted for next year, hiring drivers and stuff. Some tracks simply don't have the infrastructure anyway. Not enough garages in the pits

Meh, 3 car teams wouldn't bother me. It'd be a shame if some teams had 3 cars and others didn't, but if they all did then I don't see the harm.

Can they not just do customer cars for the teams struggling to make their own?

Granted running a car is still extortionately expensive but it'd offset the costs of creating from scratch every year.

I would like to see teams have three cars, it would give drivers like Hulkenberg a chance at getting a seat in a big team.

It'll never go to a 3 car set up, the teams won't score points for the third car so it'll be running for no reason. There isn't the motivation there.

Caterham is gone i think, but Marussia could have some interest as it'll have some cash coming in at the end of the year if they fulfil their entry for 2015.

Why no points? Was that part of the plan? Maybe useful testing stats given the new restrictions on testing.

So next season will the new American team be on the grid - if so and maurussia get brought or audi finally enter we will have the same number of cars anyway

I can't see the third car idea working if they don't score points... Imagine a tight world championship and a teams third car takes out their opponents main driver with some "tough driving" there would be uproar

Sebastian Vettel will start the 2014 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix from the pit lane after the sport's governing body the FIA confirmed that he will use his sixth power unit of the season in Austin.

Vettel's Red Bull RB10 will be fitted with a new engine, a new turbo, a new MGU-K and MGU-H, and new energy store and control electronics systems.

The FIA said they had been warned by Red Bull of the changes on the Monday prior to the Grand Prix. Having then been notified by the Austin stewards, they confirmed in a statement that Vettel will be forced to start from the pit lane in accordance with the technical regulations.

Alonso said he wouldn't be driving a Mercedes powered car in 2015. I assumed Mclaren Honda but how about an Audi?
They said they were not interested in joining F1... But there are persistent rumours
Still without buying a team it's hard to imagine them creating a competitive car within a year or two (unless newey joins)
Can't see it but it would certainly make things interesting

Is there a clause about top teams running a third car next year if there is not enough entrants?
Could alonso stay at Ferrari or even move to red bull if this is true... Even Merc alongside Hamilton and rosberg???

Race day and no actual posts have been made about it all weekend

I'm probably not even going to watch it either, Mercedes 1-2 in whatever order, even as a Hamilton fan I don't really give a shit anymore.

It should be interesting for the first lap while Hamilton is trying to take Rosberg but once he gets by him and flies off into the distance hopefully the camera man can find an interesting battle further back

Expecting Rosberg to win this, Lewis was having brake issue yesterday so unless they have replaced something over night he will probably have more issues during the race.
