The F1 Thread 2014 Season

Ricciardo seems so calm and nice. Never thought a driver could make me like Red Bull (and after Webber, especially not an Aussie), but Ricciardo is doing a good job of changing my mind.

Williams are holding off the Mercedes well so far. That might change though when they switch tyres.

That was an important overtake by Hamilton. Couldn't afford to have a Williams between him and Rosberg.

EDIT: he still has a Williams between him and Rosberg

Haha, he did well to stay ahead for the time that he did. Good racing from Perez, just shows how poor McLaren were last year. Hamilton has lost out another few seconds there.

Vettle retires again. Man has no luck at all, but it is amusing at least after the last few years

Unlikely, must be annoying for Lewis when your losing a couple of seconds ever race through no fault your own.

I don't think it's unlikely. German team, German driver. They brought Hamilton on board to give them a good run at the championship, but when it turns out their native German also has a chance then they'll do everything in their power to help him. Don't underestimate just how desperate Mercedes are for a German to win - after all, when they bought the team they kicked out the reigning world champion in Button so they could bring in a well past it Schumacher.

Seems to be a common occurrence for them, not only for this season but last season they struggled with the tires and braking. Rosberg is due for the most severe wear this time around.

Hamilton doesn't need to go mental trying to win this, 9th to 2nd would be a massive save.

That might be it now, the Mercs will just manage it to the end. Would be a good recovery for Lewis - if he had cleared Bottas with a quicker first pit stop he probably would have won it. Can't help but feel Williams shot themselves in the foot a bit by not responding immediately to the Merc stops.

Yeah long pitstops have probably cost Hamilton a chance at the win, you can't lose over a second everytime you pit in such a close race.

Feel so bad for Hamilton. When your team don't want you to win, you're not going to win. Just ask Webber.

Still a great race for Hamilton to finish second nonetheless.
