The F1 Thread 2014 Season

It's good news but I'm a little suspicious to the fact there's no other information. Being awake might not mean all that much....

I think this is daft.

F1's latest idea to ramp up excitement levels looks set to get the green light, with a proposal to follow safety car periods with standing starts approved at a meeting earlier this week.

If he gets through the first laps clean I still think Hamilton can do some damage, his practice race runs prove he is quick enough. Fighting back through the field is usually when we see the best of him, I think this race is actually setup to be a classic.

Massa on pole shock of the season so far, what happened to the Merc's, was not able to watch it.

Hamilton ran wide in the last sector on his first run with a massive oversteer moment, he was probably set to do a mid 1.08 so he would have had pole. 2nd run he locked up into the hairpin in Sector 1 and span, not sure if it was a driver error or mechanical issue, don't think I've seen an F1 car ever lock up its rear axle and it not be a mechanical issue though.

Rosberg had a so-so first run, second run was hampered by Hamilton spinning so he backed out. Williams got pole on pure pace though to be fair, there was no gurantee Rosberg would have improved.

Cheers, makes for a interesting race.

Definitely, they are going to have to go some to beat Williams on track because they have the highest top speed of anyone and the DRS zones are on the shorter straights. Could come down to strategy, safety cars and the start. If Williams can get both cars out in front they could use one of them to protect the other and win this race, really depends how they play it.

Think it will be fascinating though, an old school track with gravel traps and unforgiving bumps on corner exits. I'll be amazed if there isn't atleast one safety car.

Great start by Hamilton, 4th already. It'll help him that Rosberg is still behind the two Williams as well.
