The F1 Thread 2014 Season

:lol:That cheer from the crowd when Vettel go knocked out.

These cars looks like absolute nightmares to handle in the wet. There are going to be a lot of retirements tomorrow, so I can see an outsider winning. I'm no expert but Magnussen's McLaren looked very easy to drive from the onboard shots. So too the Williams cars, so a podium for them probably wouldn't be out of the question imo.

Magnussen might be penalised for speeding under yellow flag condition.

That was a quality ending to qualifying.
btw do drivers who go into Q2 get extra supersofts for qualifying and those missing out get supersofts for race?
Those who go into Q3 are getting an extra set of tyres, last years a few drivers would make it but then sit out, extra tyres is suppose to be an incentive to go out and set a quick lap.

Another pole for Hamilton. Is he on the all time top ten for pole positions? Magnussen too with a very decent time. By all accounts he is absolutely rapid over a lap and is the reason he got the seat at Mclaren, will be interesting to see how he fairs over a GP. I was going to go for him instead of Button in my team but want to see how he handles situations during a race. Three of my drivers in the top ten with Button in 11th, hope for a bit of rain tomorrow. Have they give out rain on the forecast?

My fantasy team is Hamilton, Rosberg, Magnussen and Bottas fwiw. I went big on Mercedes and the Mercedes powered teams.

No penalty for that. Did get a fine for speeding in the pit lane though.

Very excited to follow him this season. Obviously being massively hyped in the Danish media, but looking at the training and the qualification it's clear that it's not just empty talk. Lots of comparisons to Hamilton's first season being made, but I don't follow F1 nearly enough to work out whether it's really warranted. What do you guys make of him?

That's a nice line-up. What strategy are you on? My team is - Bottas, Button, Hulkenberg and Rosberg. Bottas will have a very good season in my eyes, I think he will comfortably beat Massa.

The rain made qualifying interesting, but the fact is Mercedes are way ahead.
Could be the most boring season for a long time.

I'm on the no change strategy. I expect the rest of the field to catch up, but Merc, Macca and Williams will be there or thereabouts at the end. I think this is the perfect season for newish drivers to make their mark. Bottas looks good so far.

Difficult to tell whether someone's the real deal until they've actually raced, sometimes people just don't make the step up, but he's done everything right so far. Doesn't have anything like the preparation that Hamilton had going into 2007 due to rule changes in testing so I'm not expecting him to have that kind of impact, but if McLaren have made a car capable of it, I reckon he can at least challenge for a win sometime this year.

Kimi is really struggling to get to grips with that Ferrari.

I'm really enjoying seeing the drivers having to work to drive the car. The lack of downforce will really separate the good from the great. I think we will see much bigger time differences between teams and drivers this season.

So Vettel might not completely run away with it this season? Might be worth a watch then.

Changed to Hamilton, Rosberg and Alonso last minute last night. Was a good plan it seems! Pole, 3rd and 5th.

Nice to see Ricciardo up there, he might give Vettel more of a fight than people expect.

Watching the qualifying on BBC, I still can't believe how quiet the cars are.

That's what I meant to do but I just checked there and I picked Button instead of Rosberg by mistake

Vettel ran away with it around the halfway stage last season, previous seasons were very close. This season we have the prospect of Mercedes completely dominating, interesting to see peoples reaction to that.
In qualifying Mercedes were over a second quicker than anyone else apart from Ricciardo who was on inters.

Could be the most dominating season by a team since the days of Schumacher and Barrichello.

I think it's more likely to be a Brawn '09 season, they've got the best of the new regs early on but there's so much laptime to find still that others have the chance to catch up.

Does anyone know where i can watch the full race back tomorrow? I don't feel like getting up early as if i did i'd probably sleep through the United - Liverpool game, and i'm quite excited for that.

Poor Lewis.

The young uns are doing well. Riccardo, Magnussen and Bottas impressing thus far.
