The F1 Thread 2014 Season

Feck me. Apparently the Red Bull is about a second slower on the straights but just as quick as the Merc in the corners. If Sunday is a wet race, I think there's a good chance we might see the finger again.

This sounds like it will be really interesting. Apparently none of the teams have really tried testing of the wet tyres/rain. Everyone basically will be guessing

Riccardo has looked fairly decent so far.

Kimi in the wall now, may put Vettle out

is anybody else watching on Sky go? It has stopped about 10 times so far, what a pile of shit
I was having trouble in Q1 but I put that down to the broadband not liking to reach the bedroom very well. Dragged myself out of bed and it's been fine since, got the laptop plugged into the telly and it's running well enough to be SD TV qualify on 42"

Had to switch to a steam from the net, that is stable, Sky Go was just buffering for ages, would not mind but I pay for that shit and the stream is illegal.

Alonso's gamble doesn't look like it has paid off. Plenty of other teams jumping on far fresher inter's now

Riccardo has really impressed me , did not think he would do anything, after pre season when the Red Bulls did nothing, seems like he likes the car more than Vettel.
He has always been really good in qualifying. Whether he can match the big boys during the race will be his real test

Lewis takes pole from Riccardo, should be a good scrap tomorrow.

Bit gutted there for Ricciardo, would have been a great moment for him. Well played Hamilton though, always manages to snatch it at the last minute.

Well done Magnussen too, starting in the same position that Hamilton did in his first race. Merc looks a class apart though. Good quali that.

This has just been posted on the F1 facebook page..

So predictable - people who say otherwise are so deluded...
This was planned back in 2012, it's been well discussed since 2012 that Mercedes where the team to beat for 2014 (hence the reason Hamilton left mclaren) - Hamilton hasn't won a title now for 6 years (and he had help to win that) I think the sport expected him to have more titles before now, so they have decided to give him a little helping hand for more.... Mercedes are the only team this year, and if you a team mate of Hamilton you will never be allowed to get the upper hand (so poor Rosberg will be second fiddle I'm afraid) - 2014 had Hamilton's name on the championship 2 years ago - it will just be interesting to see if people say he has only won because he is in the best car, and if they still say f1 is boring as 1 driver is just running away with it.....

What a pile of shit

 Not even worth the effort pointing out the flaws in that argument.

Gotta say after the initial dissapointment of the sounds, I think they are growing on me. What is certain though, that quali was proper fun to watch, really nice to see the drivers actually handed a proper challenge. Hamilton takes pole on a lap with a proper powerslide with full opposite lock, thats the F1 we haven't seen for donkeys years.

Brundle is also still the best sports broadcaster, "taking bites out of the seat" had me laughing at 6.30am which takes some doing.

I didn't see qualifying, what happened to Lotus? It was assumed they were going to drop back from last years performances but six seconds behind?
