The F1 Thread 2012 Season

Yet again when the chips are down Red Bull have the best car again, Vettel will walk the title from here. McLaren slower than Ferrari and Sauber and all of a sudden unreliable.

I would call it "all of a sudden".

I would call it "all of a sudden".

Well that's true, its just they didn't have these issues in the first half of the season. I really hope Hamilton isn't taking any of his race engineers with him

No we don't, I mean its not like people can't learn from their mistakes but Grosjean is a clown and its a matter of time before he injures someone, I mean his incident rate is astounding.

I agree we dont need drivers like that, I just wanted to see what other thought.
Roman is like a naughty schoolboy told not to do something and he just carry's on doing it.
I hope they either get rid or teach him to be a better driver before he does injurer somebody.

The thing is I don't think Grosjean activates his brain going into the start of the race, he just piles in and I don't think he even knows that he is doing it.

Pretty sick of seeing F1 cars running around 9 seconds off the pace too, literally a tyre management championship now with DRS to keep the masses happy.

Grosjean is a fast driver but a bloody awful racer, he has no race craft whatsoever and shouldn't be allowed on a circuit that contains other cars.

I also agree with leg-end about the tyre management championship and DRS, I want to see drivers going balls out every lap.

I don't like DRS and the tyre management is spoiling the races.
But what else can they do, they could give them unlimited sets and they can run flat out all the race, that is not going to happen.

There is a significant development coming up for McLaren if Button can't beat Koba, if they don't switch 4th and 5th with Hamilton then they aren't backing his title bid.

Yep its a small shot anyway but McLaren don't care obviously because anyone with any logic would have swapped them there, its only 2 points but Red Bull or Ferrari would have swapped them.

I know what you're saying, but do you not think they're concentrating on the WCC now? They had a realistic shot at 3rd.

They would have known 3rd wasn't possible by the end of the lap, they could have switched them if they wanted and basically lost nothing.

Bit of a sweeping generalisation there, this circuit just highlights a typical Adrian Newey car more than any other.

Not a good grand prix, the finger wins, Massa gets a podium. Its not right I tell you, not right at all.

McLaren got their flexi wings clipped and beaten by a Ferrari on outright pace today, Red Bull as it stands have the car to beat.

Nothing but knee jerk there. McLaren didn't have a perfect set up on their car. Pretty sure if Hamilton's car wasn't understeering it'd been a different race for him.

I think Red Bull's updates (not the flexi wings bs you're saying) is what's caused their dramatic up turn in pace, like the double DRS they were running for example, which gave Vettel track position.

It really isn't knee jerk, the Red Bull matched McLaren at Singapore and beat them comfortably here. This is a Red Bull track but the warning signs are there, although I guess you could say if Hamilton had sorted a setup he might have grabbed more out of it than Button.

Regarding the wings, I just find it amusing that Ferrari complained and all of a sudden McLaren hit setup issues and get beaten on pace by a Ferrari. What is clear is that the Red Bull's updates worked and that combination with Vettel you can't look past him for the title.
