The F1 Thread 2011 Season

Expected Red Bull to save something for Q3, no big suprise really but please put Hamilton in somewhere with Vettel for the first corner.

Brundle, 'the lap of the day is surely Hamilton'

Erm, how about the guy who went faster than him?

Heiki beat Chandhok by a second - lap of the day?

Flawed argument. You really think beating someone who hasn't raced in a while by a second is the same is beating a former world champion and one of the top drivers by a second?

Don't know who bought Jenson into the argument. Actually, that was a fantastic lap regardless of Jenson's lap. What made it special wasn't how far he was ahead of his teammate but the sheer effort in eeking out everything from the car. That's qualy at its finest.

I don't think it was a case of Lewis dragging the car round. He said he hadn't done a proper low fuel run with the new updates for the weekend yet and said the car felt fantastic during Q3 which was the first time this happened.

Yeah from Hamilton's comments it seems like they didn't fully know if they car had improved or not with the low fuel because they didn't actually run it until quali.

The only way to get a proper comparison between drivers is to compare them to their team mates, Jenson definatly had balance issues which widened the gap but Lewis found something like 6 tenths on his last lap and he said after his first run he gave it everything after his 30.7.

Anyway the race is setup perfectly tomorrow rain or shine.

Gutted everything lost from the German GP

Some sense prevails at last.

Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi has been punished by the German race stewards for his collision with Renault’s Nick Heidfeld during Sunday’s Nurburgring race. Buemi receives a five-place grid penalty for the next round in Hungary.

After a post-race investigation, the stewards decided the Swiss driver was at fault for the accident, which occurred on the approach to the chicane on lap 10. Although Buemi was able to continue to finish 15th, Heidfeld, whose Renault made contact with the Toro Rosso's right-rear tyre, retired from the race.

"We will give F1 the full Sky Sports treatment with a commitment to each race never seen before on UK television."

You can start by having no adverts, otherwise you can feck right off.

Who are Sky going to get as pundits/commentators then do we think?

I've started to enjoy the Bundle/DC partnership.

BBC/Sky/F1 2012+. Found out last night, no idea how it will work yet I'm out of contract, will calmly work through options Not impressed

Subscribers can enjoy Barclays Premier League and UEFA Champions League football, England Test matches, three of golf's four Majors including the Masters from Augusta, international, European and domestic rugby union, Super League rugby and a host of other sports events.

From Sky Sports website.

I get the impression from reading the above that Sky want us to know their coverage will be live.

Sounds like build up coverage won't be dedicated if it's just going to be on SSN, which is a bit shit.

don't see why the current set up will not work on BBC and Sky.

Sky pundits and commentators say "here on Sky Sports" about 8457339 times in every broadcast, I can't imagine BBC wanting that on their air, and I doubt they'll have them saying both networks. I'm pretty sure they'll have their own commentary team. As for pundits, after reading that article I just posted I get the impression they won't be having any, it'll just be SSN before and after the race. I hope I'm wrong on that though, because it would be utter toss.
