The F1 Thread 2010 Season

in other news Schumacher was really struggling today, is he starting to lose it?

Far from it, he's getting back into the groove. It actually baffled me just how fast he was in the wet. For a driver thats been out for 3 years getting back to speed in the dry is hard enough, but to be just as fast if not faster then all others in the wet was incredible. If he hadn't been hit at the start, he probably would have given the top order a good shake up. Like Button, he has the ability to keep his tyres alive for long distances compared to others.

How long do we give Schumacher of getting back into the groove, as he is consistently a lot slower than Rosberg, which is no real shame, as Rosberg is a very good driver.

1st practice - Rosberg 1.4s quicker
2nd practice - Schumacher 0.4s quicker
3rd practice - Rosberg 0.2s quicker

But to be honest, practice is by the by, it's qualifying and the race which matters, where Rosberg is doing much better.

Rosberg is always fast in practice. How many times did he top the practice times last year only to fail in qualifying or the race

Yeh, was definitely a lot of showboating going on on Friday's with low fuel to set fast times, but his car wasn't good enough to really win races...and the only real good shot he had, he blew it by exiting the pits across the white line...can't remember where, think it was Abu Dhabi when he was 2nd

But anyway, he's outperforming Schumacher in qualifying and the race

Hot weather and storms forecast for Sat and Sun in Malaysia, should make things interesting :)

Interesting or crap if they do half the race behind a safety car, then release them for 5 laps, see accidents and finish it half distance thingy again.

Jenson and Lewis both said in the last couple of days how happy they are with the cars progression this year.

Good to hear.

Although, hopefully not too much, as last year's was a letdown with that waiting around to decide if they raced again

Starting abit earlier this year but I still think its gonna be a risk to get to the end, might actually involve some interesting strategy calls. Essentially if you know its gonna rain towards the last 20 or so laps then you would leave any kind of pitstop until as late as possible, then again will they bother stopping after Austrailia?

Sure does rain though.

I don't really care who replaces Bridgestone but it would be nice to see someone new again, Kumho have ties to endurance racing and lower formula series, Hankook as far as I know are rally based with the odd touring car.

Tyre wars are pretty good for the sport in honesty, I hope we see atleast 3 if they open up the tender.

as long as we dont see something like the usa race where only 3 teams could race... that was probably the worst gp ever... and after the 1st race of this season thats saying something!

Ah crap I forgot about that. Ok enough rain to make things more fun!

9am quali fellas, any predictions?

I think it will follow the same pattern as the first two. Nobody can touch the Red Bull in quali with its ride height adjuster, I think McLaren will be in and around the Ferrari's though, mainly in the hands of Hamilton.

Vettel for pole in the dry, in the wet its anyones guess.

Vettel's performances in the rain are not to be underestimated, his first win came at a totally soaked Monza and he's shown it not to have been a fluke.

If the conditions are changing could we see Button put one over on Hamilton again this weekend? Or even if they're not?

Vettel and Red Bull in general are very fast in the wet, I fancy them in dry or wet around here though.

I think Hamilton will have Button sorted this weekend.

I hope Vettel's car holds out this weekend, he's not had much luck so far.

Should be enjoyable :)

vettel for pole
hamilton to win the race
alonso to do a lot better in quali and the race than he has done in the warm up

hehe, that'll shake things up tomorrow.

Eddie Jordon must have got his ladder out during Q1, he's on a very high horse at the moment.

Jake brings up Lotus getting Heiki into Q2 and what a good call Mike Gascoine made so Eddie Jordon tries to tell how he tought Gascoine everything he knows. God I hate that little twat.

MSC goes from setting purple times to just scraping into Q3, weather is changing every 30 seconds here.

I think I need to see an anger management therapist about my hatred for Eddie Jordon.

Q3 red flagged with 7:17 left, not clear yet if it's just for the rain or if somebody has binned it.

Yea it's for the standing water, lots of it. Race control confirms an 'indefinite delay'.

Yea Brundle was moaning that it wasn't left until people were falling off the track

Race should be good, although unless the Red Bull curse strikes again nobody is stopping them this time, well perhaps Kubica but I doubt it. Unless it rains ofcourse.

Why did they bring this race forward, they know it always rains torrential in Malaysia around 5pm and whats the betting it pisses down again halfway through tomorrow's race.

Because Bernie is a fecking tool and all he cares about is European tv figures so he wants things on at a time to suit mainland Europe. It's the same reason Aus has moved later and why we might lose the Aus race altogether because he wants it to be a night race and they don't wanna do that.

The track looks almost dry now, bizarre.

do people still have to start the race on the tyres they qualified on?

what happens to webber if its pissing it down full on... or similarly what about all those on full wets if its dry / only damp
