The F1 Thread 2010 Season

Webber is in pole position to win unless RB cock up. They have the fastest car on the grid by a bit and should finish 1-2. He doesn't even have to bother about beating Vettel for the race win as that will be handed to him if he is behind a leading Vettel

The driver who is going to determine the next world champion is Lewis. If he finishes 1 or 2 (I believe it's likely) then RB will not win as Alonso will be top 5 if his car doesn't fail.

If Alonso crashes out and Lewis wins the race, where do the RBRs need to finish for him to win WDC ?

The driver who is going to determine the next WDC is the bloke who wins it. The only way it could be argued that anyone else plays a role in it will be if Vettel moves over for Webber.

now this would be an interesting finish

Deadlock: in theory, Alonso, Webber and Vettel could finish level on points at the top - a result of Vettel winning, Webber second and Alonso fifth in Abu Dhabi would give them 256 points apiece. Vettel and Alonso would have five wins each, two second places each and three third places each. Vettel would then be champion based on his three fourth places to Alonso’s two.

Really hope Alonso wins this. 2008 was a disaster with hamilton winning it. Bloody glock
Dont really mind Webber but would prefer alonso to win it. I have a feeling one of the Red bulls wont finish the race. Would be brilliant if Hamilton can somehow help alonso take the title though.

Yeah i know it was between massa and hamilton and no not a ferrai fan at all. But dislike hamilton.
Been a huge mclaren fan since the days of DC and hakkinen and loved them when kimi was there as well. And had always hated ferrari till then. However hamilton at mclaren made it hard for me to really like them that much anymore since i could not really cheer him on and with Kimi, my favorite moving to ferrari it was all rather messed up

How you see Hamilton most people see alonso, I have never really genuinely felt a team affiliation (except maybe B.A.R. With button and Sato) and still really dislike Alonso.

In terms of who deserves it most this year I'll go with Seb, if not for reliability issues he would have had it wrapped up a while back.

massa with a telemetry problem, told to come in by smedley and still stays out anyway!

some parts of the track dip below sea level so there is a bit more pressure on the engines, its not the easiest track on engines

Quite possibly, will maybe depend on how hard the front runner(s) is having to push his/their car.

Well they have nothing to lose. Hamilton will be going full guns, no doubt Vettel will be as well.

Webber and Alonso will be trying to be a little more conservative. But I have a funny felling that Button could cause Alonso some headaches.

I meant how hard they were having to rape the engines, not how much effort they themselves were putting in.

For example if Vettel is winning with a 10 second gap to Webber with Alonso down in 7th, as hard as Alonso might be trying Seb will be able to take it relatively easy on his engine. Whereas if they're all in places of contention and/or within a few seconds of each other they'll be cranking the mix right up.

Vettel currently top of the practice times with Alonso in 6th, same again on Sunday please :D

Well alonso was fastest in practice last week i think and not really close to the red bulls in the race

Aye practice times mean feck all, I was just saying I'd like to see those positions replicated!

Im at work now cant get on the BBC site for some reason I heard Jake on the Chris Moyles show on the way to work talking about the race he said it was raining anyone know if it will on Sunday.

Yea it rained before FP1 I think, I saw Jake mention it on twitter, said it burned off very quick but the kerbs were probably a bit slippy. It's pretty unusual I think so doubt it'll race on Sunday.

Still think Alonso and Bull's are holding some pace back but its not like Lewis was flatout either, the long straights help but Lewis does look mighty through sector 3 which is interesting. I also think its clear that McLaren are running experimental stuff with Button now, a wise choice really.

It's sector three that's making me think the Red Bulls are sandbagging somewhat, the short bursts between tight corners are usually where they excel.
