The F1 Thread 2010 Season

Same, expect the Red Bull's to get the pole though even though Hamilton looks strong.

Hamilton might just do Alonso a favor in the race if he can keep up the pace in the race as well.

Webber won't have to race Vettel, if Vettel is 1st to Webber's 2nd and Alonso is in position to take the WDC Vettel will move over.

Maybe if it goes down to the final lap, but don't forget if Alonso picks up a problem or spins off in that situation, Vettel becomes champion, so it's not so simple. Imagine if he yields to Webber THEN Alonso crashes out!!!

That's very true, I'd expect them to leave it very late.

That scenario would be absolutely crushing for Seb!

Got a feeling one of the Red Bulls will feck up and Alonso will be in the top two. My bet's on Vettel not having the balls.

vettel with a new helmet again?? how many is that so far this season?

Massa was on a hot lap and Hamilton had moved aside to allow him past, but then sped up again and ended up on the inside of Massa in the corner, which was when he drove straight over the camera bollard. He'll almost certainly be in front of the stewards and possibly dropped grid positions tomorrow.

ah missed that cheers , been flicking between this and the match.

As good a qualifying as it can get for Alonso given the limitations of the Ferrari engine.

Webber choked big time.

Unlikely to be penalized. That was just another on track incident and not intentional from Lewis. It would also feck up the championship race and the stewards would interfere only if there was anything blatantly intentional from a driver competing for the WDC

Position in the championship shouldn't even come into the discussion. Nor should the fact that they both still made it through to the next session if we go by previous such incidents.

The only question is did he impede Massa's lap, and the answer is yes.

Webber will take Button at the start as he will be on the cleaner line and Jenson isn't an aggressive driver. He may probably go past Alonso as well during pit stops.

Lewis' position will largely determine WDC if all top contenders finish.

You keep saying that but it's not the case. If Alonso finishes in the top 4 ahead of Webber he wins the WDC, or if Vettel doesn't win he can finish lower than that as long as he's ahead of Webber, what Hamilton does is irrelevant except for in a few specific and unlikely situations.

A Hamilton penalty wouldn't feck it up anyway, he has nothing to lose and he would only be 7th if he dropped 5. Saying that I hope he doesn't get a penalty as its setup perfectly.

Don't they generally penalize drivers if they intentionally impede ? Lewis can't just park his car on track to let Massa through.

Hope the stewards don't feck up what could be potentially a great race.

Intent has nothing to do with it, and it's arguable it wasn't even Hamilton's fault, the pit wall should have been informing him off the approaching Massa, but the driver is the one who will be on the receiving end of any penalty.

Whilst I can see your point of view about the stewards not fecking up the race, if they take the decision to penalise Hamilton for it you can't blame them, they're just following the rules - if it happens and you want to blame somebody then blame Lewis' engineer.

The incident (whilst it lasts before Bernie takes it down!).

According to 5 Live both drivers have been called in front of the stewards.

Got to be Alonso's day tomorrow, can't really see it going any other way.

That said, he could make a dive down the side of Vettel at the start tomorrow, and they end up wiping each other out. Hamilton goes on to win the race with Webber picking up damage from the afore mentioned crash, having to pit early. Making places all through the race, it gets tense but he ends up languishing in 6th. Hamilton wins WDC. The end.

Alonso has no reason to take any risks trying to pass anyone, if he finishes in third he is champion as long as Webber doesn't somehow get past him and win.

Doubt Alonso would be stupid enough to try anything too risky. He's 2 places above Webber and just needs to play it safe.

Fernando since SPA is reminding me so much of the Alonso of 05 and 06.

Just bringing in the podiums race after race and keeping his head. That qually lap today was special. Make to mistake about it. To get ahead of Button and Webber is huge. Now all he has to do is stay on the podium and I wouldn't bet against him.

He's been brilliant hasn't he. On the podium in 7 of the last 8 races if I'm not wrong. It's not easy to go head to head with the Red Bulls and win. Really want him to win tomorrow! He's the most talented driver by far. Hamilton, Vettel or Webber would not have done as good a job in the Ferrari the way Alonso's done.

What I wouldn't give for that!

I really want Webber or Hamilton to win, but have a feeling Alonso will manage it. Hope he doesn't, Alonso is a prick.
Webber deserves it, Vettel.. I just don't like. Because he's German? Possibly! Comes across as very arrogant, and that he is the only one who is deserving of winning. Mate of mine, who does the timing for F1, says he is a bell end away from the cameras.

There was a point during the middle of the year when Hamilton was beating the superior Red Bulls I do think him and Alonso are a class above the rest I do think Seb can reach the level though.
