The F1 Thread 2009 Season

Do you reckon Hamilton can get into the points from the back of the grid?

Oh ay, it can be a war of attrition at Monaco. And there were a lot of cars hitting barriers and sliding off yesterday, I'm wondering if it might be a low finishers job. Hamilton's odds aren't all that impressive for anything though

18/1 for a podium - a long shot I know but as you said a lot of cars were sliding off yesterday and if that happens in the race Hamilton will have a good chance of getting a podium. I'm guessing he's going to be filled heavy as he's at the back of the grid but with KERS he should take a few people of the first lap. The McLaren is very fast around Monaco - even Kovalinen was fast in it yesterday.. so Hamilton to get a podium is my bet. GL

Here are the fuel weights and the laps each car will stop on from James Allen's blog:

5. Felipe Massa 643.5 Lap 18
6. Nico Rosberg 642.0 Lap 17/18
7. Heikki Kovalainen 644.0 Lap 18
8. Mark Webber 646.5 Lap 21

 at Button parking in the wrong place.

Brilliant drive from Brawn.

Thinking ahead to 2010, where on the circuit do you guys think would be the best place to watch the race from?

 at Eddie Jordan. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to say bollocking at 3 in the afternoon on BBC.

Spa.

Absolutely brilliant from Button, superb drive, cant praise him enough.

Brawn truly looks like the best car in this beginning of the season... It is one incredibly amazing car and Jensen Button is doing the car a lot of justice...

 daft idiot! Bonus 'lap of honour' for him!

My bets did ok, made money with Webber beating his opposition, Sutil was hideous that was a waste of time

Marching, dunno how the ticketing works, personally I'd want to be staying in one of the hotels overlooking sainte devote and watch it from the balcony!

If he begins "i'll never be forgiven for this" surely you cut his mic. Although it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Great pundit but the BBC must get nervous everytime he speaks

What was it that one of the commentators was saying about the Champion's League Final in Rome? I missed it because I was talking, but I'd be interested to hear what was said.

Ticketing works dependent on how deep your pockets are....€2,200 on the Port Palace Hotel roof terrace...€900 on the Hotel de Paris terrace...€1,800 on the Miramar Hotel roof terrace.

I like the grandstand in the swimming pool complex that seems to give a view of the pits too.

Nice to see Suzi Perry on the commentary yacht....she said spends a lot of time 10 mins along the coast and Monaco was a home from home....lucky sod.

Ross Brawn not being able to make it to Rome due to work commitments.

Good grief! Monaco eh!

Might have to save up for a bit longer that next years race then

The regular grandstand tickets are much more reasonable but still carry a Monaco premium.

No, they have been suspended by FOTA which is the teams new foundation, they signed up for next season against the wishes of FOTA and therefore have been kicked out for abit to think about what they have done. They just wont get a say in certain crucial meetings with the FIA and Bernie.

his car is just shit , had no grip , not that it bothers me

dunno really , but i guess the team cant find balanced settings with the new car and the new regulations

Why is his car so shit this season , he cant seem to keep it on the track

I can't blame the car despite the media's excuse, the fame's gone to the lads head, he's not the same driver.

Hopefully this feck up of a season straightens him out and he's back contending next season.

However i'm a McLaren supporter, so if Lewie leaves i'll be a bit upset.

Disagree strongly, the car in F1 is 90% of everything and McLaren just have a bad car, Hamilton is guilty of trying to push a car that doesnt want to be pushed that is all.

You could have said the same about Button on 07 and 08, Button actually drove some incredible races in 07 particularly given the car but nobody ever notices when your P15.

From the body language of Red Bull and the thoughts of Ross Brawn I reckon Red Bull might be 3 stopping or quite light for the first stint, we shall see later I guess.

I dont think Brawn will be too unhappy with 2nd and 3rd.

Seriously?

If you don't have a car, you don't have a car. He's trying to get something out of it that just isn't there

Surely the changed fortunes of Button should tell you something about writing drivers off, or making claims their failure is down to fame goin to their head?

um...

Take back everything I said about it NOT being the car

This season has been embarassing
