The F1 Thread -2007

Formula 1 has been shite since Michael left, the only saving grace is Hamilton. I'm glad Alonso the prick got 7th.

Spot on.

F1 this season has been really boring.

Kimi Raikkonen is a bit rubbhish tbh.Ferrari need a few major changes.

yeah...the bikes are class.

Raikkonen is cool enough, you don't become crap overnight and he drove away with the first race of the year. Ferrari would want to have a look at themselves before they look at Kimi.

that black flag for Massa also cost Ferrari badly when he was pushing hard in 4th place.

I agree though Formula One has become so boring with very little over-taking oportunity, unlike Moto GP.

No mate, just a big fan of NYC....one of my fav places.

I've not been to Montreal either....only been to the Belgian, Monaco and GB GP's.

Great pole from Hamiliton today, especially as he'd never even seen the circuit until yesterday.

Nice one mate, that's two more than what I've seen. I've made up my mind to do Montreal next yr no matter what, hopefully that'll work out.

It's still early for Lewis just yet, but I was more shocked at Alonso's unforced mistakes. Think the lesser downforce req at Indy will help the Ferraris put up a much better performance.

well done lewis, i think he'll win tomorrow even though alonso wil be right behind him in 2nd. Alonso has never really done well in america

Seems like Ferrari have really gone off the boil

wow, great stuff from lewis, alonso was right up his arse, almost certain to overtake him but lewis managed to hold out, exciting stuff

Well said poisson...very cool bit of driving from Hamilton - I would hate to have Alonso on my bumper, he is going to lose his head sooner or later.

Come on Hamilton, hang on in there!

How many laps left? Is Hamilton still winning?

Hamilton wins!

Perfect drive from him and his team.

7 podiums out of 7 races.

Good stuff Lewis, F1 is becoming interesting again.

The Hamilton/Alonso 'split' has got me.

Another McClaren 1-2, and Hamilton beat Alonso once again. :D

I was at indy and it was the best gp I've watched there. Our seats were at the first corner/first chicane and it was a blast. I thought the ferrari fans outnumbered everyone else 5-1 easily but the thing that stood out to me was the strong and vocal polish contingent...shame Kubica didn't race.

Did anybody see the Ernesto Viso crash in the GP2 race? It was shocking. He was launched into the air and then barrel rolled along the top of the crash barrier. The race was red flagged and stopped for an hour whilst they got him out, took him to hospital and cleared up the mess. Like Kubica, he was miraculously unharmed.

Michael Schumacher chauffeurs Zidane for charity

Two retired sport icons - seven-times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher and soccer legend Zinedine Zidane - in one car. That alone would make headlines.

Add in the fact that the vehicle - a Ferrari FXX - was Schumacher’s personal car (one of only 30 built), that it was Zidane’s track baptism and that the route was a fast lap of Magny-Cours - and you are guaranteed a media frenzy.

That is exactly what happened at the French Grand Prix meeting on Saturday and there was a good cause behind the special track display: both Schumacher and Zidane were there to support the Institute for Cerebral and Medullar Disorders (ICM).

“The hotly-contested 2007 F1 world championship is very interesting for lovers of motorsport like myself,” said Zidane. “But I am here above all to support the ICM, the association whose aim is provide the necessary means to combat certain serious neurological diseases”

Getting out of the car, the Frenchman added: “Gee, that was quite an experience - and incredible, how late Michael was braking before beating the car around the curves! I would not want to try that on a normal road!”

And Schumacher, quite monosyllabic of late when confronted with the media, added: “Sport has given the both of us an immense amount - and this was a great occasion to give something back by raising the awareness for the research of the Institute for Cerebral and Medullar Disorders. And it was a personal pleasure!”

race over, kimi wins, massa 2nd, hamilton 3rd. Hamilton leads world championship by 14 points. Silverstone GP next sunday, cant waiT!!!!!!!

Poor by McLaren, cool by Kimi. Massa looked confused and inconsolable at the press conference, and thankfully we were spared the 'It's a dream come true' routine from Lewis Hamilton.

Typical Ferrari had to fix everything. They robbed Massa of this race.Massa never put a foot wrong all weekend and all over sudden he comes 2nd.Weird.At least it was a Ferrari 1-2.

You can't glaze over it by saying 'all of a sudden'. There are reasons for Massa not winning. He complained about being held up at a crucial time, also Raikkonen was putting in his best laps of the race at that time, and was stationary for a shorter time, because he was carrying more fuel all the way though qualifying and the race - so he could be in just such a position. Massa didn't do a whole lot wrong, but Raikkonen was able to get one over on him by being able to drive a heavier car at more or less the same speed as Massa's slightly lighter car.

What do you think of this. I have a bad feeling about this I hope Lewis doesn't get points deducted. It is interesting all this started when Ferrari suspending Nigel Stepney before the Monaco GP and that when McClaren got a huge advantage over Ferrari

Nasty business that, but I doubt if points deductions would come into it, not for the drivers at any rate....a lot has to happen before punishments are handed out, if any. It's also worth considering what the technical information could have been. The cars are so precise and conceptual in their design, that although they may look similar to the casual observer, they're completely different and incompatible with each other. There's talk that it's more along the lines of how Ferrari managed to get around a test on their rear wing, i.e. how they got their rear wing to pass the FIA test.

Hard to know what to make of Ron Dennis. He comes across as a scrupulously fair bloke, but I've no doubt he has a nasty streak a mile wide as well. I don't think he would have santioned anything like this though, considering the risk to McLaren, his McLaren. I'd side with him on this.

Pole position for Hamilton at Silverstone.

What a great fecking lap, this kid is a genius.
