The F1 Thread -2007

Red Rat Racer said:
They wanted no sponsers and have a map of the world to promote awareness of global warming....quite ironic really considering an F1 car has a jumbo jet thirst.

Each pixel on that map can be sponsored. I can't remember the site right now but there is a separate site for the car where all the sponsors are listed.

"He's obviously gone in for a wheel change. I say obviously because I can't see it"

"With half the race gone, there is half the race still to go"

"Anything happens in Grand Prix racing and it usually does"

"He is shedding buckets of adrenalin in that car"

Depends on wwhat happens with Kimi's engine. They might change it since it got a little damaged in his last race which would mean he'd start frm the back.

Looking forward to seeing Hamilton do well again. Hope it wasn't just a one race thing.

Just not the same anymore is it...

If you are talking about F1 in general, then no it is not what it used to be. I still watch it but get little excitement from it these days.

I have had more enjoyment from watching Skys A1 GP lately, you get some great racing in these events and also two races for the price of one, Sprint and feature races. If any of you racing fans haven't seen it you should check it out.

I just think that they have made F1 too safe these days.

To be honest I think the death of Aryton Senna sounded the end for F1 as we new it, such a high profile loss to the sport made it inevitable that changes to safety would be made.

Track design would suffer as a result, car safety features were put in place, slick tyres banned for a start, which meant aerodynamics needed to be better to keep the car on the track resulting in it being harder to overtake because of dodgy air flow etc.

A1 is ok, but it's not the best, is it?

If you asked any of the participants, if they're being honest they'd say they'd rather be in F1

Of course they would, it is still the pinacle of motor racing because of the money, history and the prestige that goes with it.

But in regards to what has the better racing and the better spectacle to watch then A1 is lightyears ahead now.

I can see where you're coming from, but consider this analogy:-

When I played football at school, our games would typically end up being 8-5 or some other similar rugby-appropriate scoreline. More goals than premiership matches, but definitely not better to watch - the quality isn't there, I want to see best.

Similarly, F1 showcases the best drivers in the best engineered machines in the world. For me that's more interesting to watch despite the lack of overtaking.

So you are happy watching 20 odd cars going round and round a track for 2 hours on end with no kind of racing going on at all, and the only chance of places being taken is in pit stops.

Sorry but thats not my idea of motor racing. I would rather see the drivers on a level playing surface exchanging places because of driver skill or superior set up, thats racing not a lap after lap precession.

Now that's not fair, sometimes someone crashes, or overtakes a back-marker!

I'm just arguing for the sake of it, really, I don't have really strong views one way or the other...

 Fair enough.

Keane16's finally back! Been a bloody long time as well!

Bit worried for Kimi but since Todt says it's ok everything must be alright ;)

GO KIMI

Massa
Alonso
Kimi

Exciting qualifier, Massa takes pole at the death.

Alonso win the malaysian grand prix, brave driving from Hamiliton takes him to 2nd, Ferrari were off the pace, Kimi had to settle for 3rd and Massa had a mare of a race to finish 5th.

Just finished watching the re-run on ITV1.

Great drive from Hamilton, I see a potential world champ here, looked cool as feck today.

Massa screwed the race for everyone with his stupid mistakes.

Massa pole position for Bahrain race.

Lewis Hamilton secures a strong 2 start spot, while Kimi starts as nr.3.

Massa 2nd pole in a week, hope he doesn't screw it up from the start though this time.

Another great drive from Hamilton.

Looks like we have a little gem here, have high hopes for him.

Massa seems to be confirming my prediction, what happened to Kimi though

i hope hamilton wins a championship in a year or two maybe even this year...if mclaren can keep up with ferrari the rest of the year and maybe even surpass them for a couple of races hamilton but most likely alonso might win the championship.

Massa with a good win.Fcking yes!
Hamilton looks like class.
Without Schumi F1 looks incomplete.Schumi = F1.

Without "schumi" F1 seems to be an improving spectacle now.

Maybe it is just that now England have a new driver to cheer on now and one that looks like he could actually win something

It actually time for Schumi to make way for the new young generations of F1 drivers. Hamilton look like a bright prospect.
