The F1 Thread -2007

fecking ace lap Lewis. Kimi would have been on pole if it wasn't for that error in the last third of the lap.

Yeah, tough race to call this one.

I really want to say Lewis but to win but kimi looks too strong and as fast as the Ferrari's were I still think they are carrying a bit more fuel. I hope I am wrong and Lewis get the win.

Come on! Kimi and Ferrari!

LOL @ Alonso. The arrogant cnut deserves to be beaten by his rookie team mate.

Alonso to Ferrari or back to Renault ???

F1's annual 'silly season' always slips into a high gear at Silverstone, but one particular paddock rumbling is worth a mention.

Sources including Britain's Daily Mail and the Spanish newspaper Diario As suggested on the scene of the British grand prix that Renault could completely overhaul its driver lineup ahead of 2008.

The Daily Mail said 27-year-old Button, who drove for Renault in 2002, "could be handed an escape route from his problems at Honda" by former boss Flavio Briatore.

The article went on: "Although (Button) maintains he intends to stay at Honda, Renault's director of engineering Pat Symonds said they would welcome Button back."

Reigning world champion Alonso, meanwhile, drove successfully for Renault until his switch to McLaren this year, where he is admittedly 'uncomfortable' alongside rookie sensation Lewis Hamilton.

'Diario As' is reporting that, among the various approaches the Spaniard has received in recent weeks, was "one from his old boss Briatore".

"Flavio would love to have him back in 2008 with an attractive contract of at least two years".

The Italian television station Canale 5, meanwhile, said late on Friday that Alonso has in fact reached an agreement with Ferrari, who intend to buy out his McLaren contract. It has also been whispered that Alonso might then announce the news and sit out the 2008 on 'sabbatical'.

F1 have transfer muppets aswell you know...

Good win for Raikkonen....no surprise.

What a poxy little cup for 2nd.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Kimi and Ferrari win!

Good race by Masa

Fck off Mclaren,Alonso and Hamilton!

Press have written off Hamilton this weekend on the back of one race day performance, and I tell you what, this lad is too good for that, he'll have them eating their words and pretending they backed him all along. Ferrari have the advantage at the moment, and honestly I expect that to last to the end of the season. But regardless of his Englishness, you have to recognise this lad is special, and even though I hate the cheating German cnut, he has something Schumacher-like about him where he can produce something that doesn't exist in his car. I don't know whether he'll win the championship, but I'd bet my life that Hamilton is in the running when it comes to the final race of the season...

I actually se nothing Schumi-esque in Hamilton, I see a lot of Schumacher in Alonso (except the gob) and no wonder he is already a double world champion.Hamilton has done tremendeously well so far BUT a large chunk of his success has been down to the superior McLaren car at the start of the season and him having a relatively incident/mechanical faults free campaign. McLaren should put an end to this internal squabbling and announce Alonso as their #1 driver. If Alonso were to go to Ferrari, they will just sweep it all.

What do you guys make of all this Mclaren cheating controversy?? Should the team get punished?

Exactly...its funny how the English overhype and overrate their sporting icons.

A few good performances and Hamilton is the next Schumi
3 goals in Euro04 and Rooney is the White Pele
Henman shows promise and he is hyped as the next great tennis player.
Theo 'the next Henry' Walcott
Flintoff the next Botham

True...Alonso has attracted all the bad luck on their team.

McLaren should put an end to this internal squabbling and announce Alonso as their #1 driver

Why would a British team do that?

Its how the English media works build them up and then shoot them down.

Because even though Hamilton is leading the championship, Alonso is the better driver, has proved himself time and time again and any reigning double world champion shouldn't have to fight for the number one driver's spot with a rookie. It is simply disrespectful to Alonso.

Interesting in how his rookie season, you already have Hamilton all figured out.
If Alonso is the better driver, it will show when the championship ends.

and even though I hate the cheating German cnut, he has something Schumacher-like about him where he can produce something that doesn't exist in his car.

You must be joking....even Schumacher couldn't do that. There are reasons for everything. What did he produce last weekend that didn't exist in his car?

Alonso will have to keep proving himself time and again as long as he stays in the game...that's what it's all about. If he's struggling to beat Hamilton, then he's got to ask questions of himself, and he seems the sort of bloke that does - and gets answers. If the team are favouring Hamilton in any tangible way, that's different. Double World Champion is just another driver to be beaten, no more than that. Disrespectful of McLaren not to install Alonso as their No.1?...no chance.

Kimi on pole for European Grand Prix.

Hamilton suffered a sever crash after crashing his car into the barrier.

Hamilton suffers qualifying crash
Lewis Hamilton was unhurt despite being stretchered away from the Nurburgring after a crash during qualifying for the European Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old Briton went into the tyre wall at the 'Schumacher S' bend and struggled to get out of his McLaren before medical assistance arrived.

McLaren boss Ron Dennis later said that Hamilton was "fine" but was unsure about his fitness for Sunday's race.

The right-front wheel was not attached properly after a wheel gun failure.

Hamilton was taken away on a stretcher but was well enough to give a thumbs-up signal.

The qualifying session was red-flagged while Hamilton was attended to, but officials quickly confirmed that he had been conscious and speaking.

Hamilton was taken by ambulance to the circuit's medical centre.

We'll see tomorrow how qualifying really was....bizarre system. Anyhow, hard lines on screwy Louis on smacking the tyre wall, it seemed an awkward one. Still though, and assuming he races, there's a lot can happen over the course of a grand prix....he should still be targeting a top finish. I wonder if Alonso went light to get in amongst the reds...or is Massa gone heavy to do a Kimi.
