The F1 Thread -2007

Personally, I think Hamilton was fairly lucky to get off without some sort of reprimand here. The bottom line is that he broke the rules and there was an incident becasue of it, directly or indirectly - whatever you like. Everytime he opens his mouth, I like him a little less. He should stick to what he's best at, driving racing cars so well that he will probably win the championship. Anytime he's not in the car, he cocking off about something or other in the media....it's incredibly tiresome, and very disingenuous. Great driver, but a total 'berk', as you Brits say.

I don't know exactly why but it's starting to do my head in too - just the words he uses and how he portrays himself I think.

A punishment would have been harsh on Hamilton but saying that his driving behind the safety car especially before re-starting the race was a bit too erratic... Not exactly sportsmanlike but taking his points away would have been harsh.

That video - "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Formula One Management"

I've seen the video a few times, BBC have been showing it Keano. As I see it, Hamilton get's too close to the safety car, understandable given the dreadful conditions, eases off whilst also taking his wider line through the corner. Questions to be asked: why is Webber so close to Hamilton when he was so close to the safety car? And why does Webber take the shortest possible route through the corner when he can see Hamilton has taken a wider line. And of course, why the feck can't Vettel keep his eyes pointing in front of him

Everybody warms their tyres, tests their brakes out etc behind the safety car, so everybody drives irratically. This has all been a nonsense designed to disrupt Hamilton this weekend, and to get F1 a bit more coverage. Job done, but the stewards rightly baulked at dishing out any action, and indeed even reversed the action they took on Vettel the week before

Why does everyone hate Hamilton?. All this rubbish about he opens his mouth to much. I wish people would give him a brake he is still a rookie.

To me, he was driving erratically behind the safety car, and indirectly, that caused the incident. He had driven erratically behind the other safety car as well - he was acting up basically. The questions regarding Webber aren't valid, he didn't do anything wrong and was never investigated. He wasn't that close to Hamilton, they do concertina up a bit in slow corners - but crucially, Webber had no special responsibility regarding leading the field around behind the safety car. He wasn't dictating anything, he was reacting to Hamilton's unpredictability. Webber took the normal line through the corner, Lewis was miles off it, he confused the other two, Vettel looked over and ran into Webber.

When you consider that people get penalties for crossing white lines or going past blue flags or the penalty Alonso got, I think last year, at Monza, Lewis can thank his lucky stars here IMO. As usual, the verdicts make little sense. If they deemed that Hamilton didn't do anything wrong, then why reduce Vettel's punishment?....he was looking at Hamilton after all.

They'll now also find it very hard to penalise someone for driving erratically behind the safety car....and it rains in China, quite heavily.

Hamilton take pole position.Kimi second,Massa third and lol @ Alonso 4th.

Love him or hate him and he even maybe a cheat but Hamilton's clearly very good.

No one likes Hamilton because hes English and winning at F1

How is he a cheat? Its a load of bollocks - smacks of desperation if you ask me.

Come on Lewis, show all these cnuts up for what they really are.

If his name was Schumacher, we would have had none of this

I don't hate him. I actually was fully behind him at the start of the season but lately I've just got annoyed at how he is portrayed in the media and by himself in interviews.

Whether you do or not doesn't matter you have to give him credit for coming into his debut season and not making many mistakes whilst in general having the pace of the top runners who are seasoned veterans.

It's a shame, no matter whether it is true and whether he did actually gain from it, the cheat issue will always arise from this championship.

Tragic the spy scandal is. Hamilton has been quite good, he has beaten his team -mate who is more experienced which is all he can do. Both using the same car, superior to others because of cheating. The 100 m fine will however make McLaren less competitive next year - might affect their sponsorship as well which means less revenue. Consequently if Hamilton is to win next year he needs to change teams, othervise he will go down the same way as Jaques Villeneuve. An odd victory and then forgotten.

Going to rain again, very unpredictable weather conditions

Hopefully Kimi can benefit from this

Kimi needs a miracle at Interlagos though

fecking mclaren fecked it up for lewis. Alonso must've paid off hamilton's race engineer, yes that the only explaination

if alonso wins this race he'll be only 2 points behind lewis with 1 race left :nervous:
