Great race. Kimi and Alonso show their class in a race with changing track conditions. Its more difficult and requires greater skill than a totally wet race like in Japan last time.

What happens if Lewis and Alonso finish even on points ? Lewis still is favorite for the championship though since Alonso would need a couple of Ferrari's inbetween him and Lewis next race.

Goes to who's won the most races through the season, which I believe is level at the moment. So as I understand it, if Alonso wins in Brazil and Hamilton comes 3rd, Alonso takes it

Us English knew precisely what would happen this race, it was sheer inevitability Hamilton wouldn't finish. That's how we win things, by fecking it up over and over until the last possible chance of victory, when we come over all lion hearted and get the job done. I have faith the cycle will repeat

i think the driver with more race victories in that season wins

Idiot!

McLaren dropped it badly today. Lewis had the World Championship in his grasp...basically, any half decent finish would nearly have given it to him - instead they were stretching their strategy, maximising, risking...for what, I don't know. Then Lewis binned it, Alonso held off Massa after his stop, Ron put his foot in his mouth....and we're off to Brazil.

Raikkonen will want the 10 there, so will Fernando, obviously, Lewis will surely be more circumspect, and Massa will be rabid for it. I think the McLaren/Alonso situation has the potential to go nuclear as well, the barbs are getting worse.....I can just see it exploding.

Prediction....McLarens to take each other out, Massa to win, Raikkonen 2nd - and World Champion, that would really give Ron something to moan about....it's all about McLaren now.

As heartbreaking as it was for him it was rather funny watching him slowly slip into the gravel and get stuck... Who would have thought that...

There was some comic value to it alright, the marshal's were funny, Lewis was expecting them to just roll him out.

What a place for a gravel trap.

Daft fecking decision to carry on so long on those tires. He was asking for it.

It was the natural decision for someone like Hamilton. Top drivers want to win races. If he was a driver with an attitude who feels he cant drive 2/3 more laps at a slower pace until his pitstop and stay ahead of Alonso(20/30 secs behind) without new tires, he would never have even gotten as far as F1.

He was in control and a finish ahead of Alonso would have sealed the championship. It was the mistake that cost him and not the decision to carry on longer on those tires.

After tyre failure ended the Briton's race, McLaren co-owner Ron Dennis defended the decision to delay a tyre change.

"We weren't racing Kimi, we were basically racing Fernando," Dennis explained.

Comments like that have reinforced Alonso's belief that McLaren have not treated him with the respect he deserves as reigning world champion.

------

Dennis claims the team is treating both drivers equally but comments like the above tell a different story. Has anyone noticed that Lewis always gets the advantage of going first into stage 3 of qualifying ? The one time he was asked to move over for Alonso, he refused and caused Alonso to be penalized.

wow, that will be awesome, raikonnen being world champion

Yip de fecking do. If you haven't noticed, it's Alonso that's caused all these problems - first starting moaning he wasn't getting preferential treatment when he was, erm, slower than his team mate... made the threats to the team that resulted in the spy scandel and resulting fine - a scandel incidently he was implicated in, while Dennis and Lewis had no evidence whatsoever to suggest the were involved... who hasn't spoken to Dennis in months

He's a farce of a man. Why the feck anyone should respect the weasel chump is beyond me, he's done nothing to earn it

That would be brilliant.

Imagine Hamilton leading Alonso in the last lap with Kimi behind and Alonso takes Lewis out.

The little whiney Spanish cnut needs his hand held...

McLaren face scrutiny over Alonso

Formula One's governing body has stepped in to ensure McLaren give equal treatment to Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The FIA is appointing a special scrutineer for the Brazilian Grand Prix to ensure there is no favouritism.

Heading into the deciding race on 21 October Hamilton has a four-point over Alonso, who has become increasingly isolated within the team.

Neither are worthy champions this year. Pathetic that the one who has won most this year is third with a marginal chance of winning. The point system got seriously fecked up when they changed it back when Schumacher won everything. With this system you are bound to get mediocre champions like Alonso - they drive around without being spectacular.

I know I've talked about how Hamilton acts in the media but it has got to be said Alonso has acted a bit of a cnut a few times...

It's strange as well I haven't been 'gripped' by the championship as much as I have before. Still there has been some decent action in quite a few races and if anybody deserves to win on purely drivers skill it would definitely be Hamilton. He has been consistent and in nearly all the races had the pace whilst showing some skilful and daring manoeuvres.

Being British I am happy for Lewis but I would rather Kimi win the championship and people seem to forget that he still has a chance of winning it. He has kept quiet with all this cheating shit and that Ferrari lets say favoured Massi at the beginning of the season.

But the thing I don't like with the media in England is that if Lewis does not win it they will trash him like they do with all of are young stars. It would still be a great achievement if Lewis finishes second or even third for a rookie.

I don't think the press would trash him at all so early on in his career, he is the great hope of British motor sport whether he wins this year or not. I'm not saying no trashing will happen but not until into next season at least.

If Lewis doesn't win it, they won't trash him. They'll wholeheartedly and unanimously blame Alonso.

i hope alonso's car dont start

Alonso needs a lot of luck and helping hand from the Ferrari's if he has to win. Lewis has the better chance.

What if Kimi is leading, Alonso is second with Lewis behind him ? Will Ferrari allow Alonso to win if he is joining them next season ? They will have the #1 car and a 3 time world champion for next season.

Lewis needs to make sure he stays on the track first

Final lap, Kimi is leading, Lewis is second, Alonso is third, last corner and Alonso in an attempt to overtake Lewis, crashes into Lewis putting them both out of the race. Kimi crosses the line and is now the world champion and Alonso can shut his arrogant mouth while the press will not go into a manic frenzy over Lewis.

I hope this happens.

He's the world champ and should expect to be treated as the teams first driver over a rookie. McLaren treated Hamilton as top dog since the beginning of this season once they realized that having a young British rookie win the races benefited them in terms of endorsements etc and Alonso got shafted

That and him being faster than Alonso then yeh?

Utter garbage mate, utter garbage!

I hope Raikonnen wins. Ferrari all the way! I have always hated McLaren, even before that robot Hakinnen drove for them. If I have to pick between Alonso or Hamilton, then Alonso every time - much prefer him.

While at Mclaren they run an equal status between the drivers both Mclaren and Alonso, infact everyone, never thought Hamilton would do as well as this so there wouldn't have been any problems with this higher status. The fact that Hamilton has done what he has with pace and consistency they have had to let him have a chance and that equal status within the team. I'm getting sick at people saying because he is a champion and what not... If he was such a champion he should have been able to respond better than he has.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum championship wise. My individual driver preference to win is Raikonnen but then I hate Ferrari mainly due to their recent dominance and have always liked McLaren. I liked Alonso and his style in the previous years but he hasn't acted as well as I thought he would to this pressure and is a bit of a cnut. I wished Hamilton success at the start of the year but all the media hype including what he says has done my head in so ... I don't know who to go for... Still I think Hamilton has this all he has to do is fall back on the consistency he has had all season and finish really.

That doesn't change the fact that Alonso is world champion. If Lee Martin plays two games better than Giggs should we always pick Lee Martin in the Starting XI and tell Giggs he won't get the chances he was promised in his contract. Hamilton was given priority by McLaren after he got podium in 3 races in the beginning of the season and the press started going on and on about him

Come on lets get it right, the analagy would be more like this. Giggs and Martin would play every game for the same length of time. But you're saying Giggs should get the better boots and equipment, have first dibs on the lucozade, have all the set pieces and that, get first use of the soap in the aftermatch bath etc. Only of course it isn't Lee Martin is it. It's Zinedine Zidane. He's better than his team mate after all...

Nicely put, i agree.
