Looking forward to tomorrow's session. Tons of players to throw cash at still. Or boots, for that matter.
How has Pnut got suarez? I bid 30m for him?

I think it's two things. One, you don't have to play an inferior young outfield player in a far more important role, especially in a draft, and two, the difference between the GOATs and just very good players is much smaller with goalkeepers. Having Buffon or Sergio Rico in goal, most likely won't impact the result in most matches.Don't get ter Stegen and Rico bids. Imo, they are more likely to have negative impact in mathes considering they may face a GOAT striker.
Esp when you have goat defense in front of them. Even without them, GKs are inherently less problematic, See Sergio Romero reaching 3 international tournament finals and not conceding in normal time in either of them, without even a great defense in front of him.I think it's two things. I do get it, although Rico is a bit of a gamble in sense that he hasn't been around that much. Still a Courtois, Leno, Ter Stegen, Oblak although still young are the top keepers around today. It's not like they are sheep or something.Don't get ter Stegen and Rico bids. Imo, they are more likely to have negative impact in mathes considering they may face a GOAT striker.
Totally. Lesser Gks are disadvantages, just less disadvantages than lesser outfield players is what I mean.I get the keeper > outfield player logic. But surely the line has to be drawn somewhere. If not, the old "might as well throw a sack of beans between the sticks" truth is in danger of becoming a sheer parody. This is an all-time draft - other managers sport the likes of Banks back there, that has to count for something.
Goals conceded hardly depends only on the keeper though, the defense and midfield plays a huge role, other wise Valdes would have been the greatest keeper of our generation. The way I look at it is , how many goals do these keepers concede playing most weeks against pretty average / shit players . And how do they do in the games where they play v Messi/ Ronaldo / lewandowski etc. Now add the GOAT strikers and midfielders . For me , it can't end well other than De Gea.

The other team must be sporting a weaker youth player somewhere though (unless its Chester), just depends on who would be the tipping point as per the tactic. A keeper is also easy to hide behind a goat defense, much more than say a defender or midfielder. Anyway I'll argue in the match thread if I lend my youth keeper. It is an intriguing debate though. But here, both teams are apt to sport some top defenders, which makes the Keeper's job more crucial as he could be the tipping point.
But how often does that actually happen? How many "unsaveables" do even the best keepers save in a season? How many basic errors that lead to goals do good keepers commit that the GOATs wouldn't? The difference just isn't all that big over one or just a few games. But here, both teams are apt to sport some top defenders, which makes the Keeper's job more crucial as he could be the tipping point.
Take possibly the best three sides ever - Barcelona in the last decade, Sacchi's Milan and Brazil 1970. Are those picked here irrelevant to Valdes, Felix and Galli ?
The 'youth factor' means EAP did want to introduce the future GOATS, no?
EAP was aware of that risk before chester acquired the 1st 'youth GK'

The intention of youth factor was to ensure all teams had a Hazard or Reus type player in them. Not just extremes in Neymar and Rico with nothing inbetween.
But then, I should have made the rules a bit more specific too.

De Gea, Courtois and maybe Oblak, that where i would have draw the line with young gk as they are among the best in the world. Dont want to criticize someones pick but there are some shocking picks out there, especially when you consider the price....
I wouldn't call ter Stegen, Leno, Oblak, Courtois weak keepers. Those are the best young keepers today at the end this is a position you have to fill like filling an outfield player who will stack against GOAT midfielder, GOAT defender or GOAT attacker. Take De Gea for example at the EURO - he made errors here and there and he's possibly the best there is today(along with Neuer). Same as the others - talented and prone to errors in the same way an outfield player in this pool(<25) is talented but prone to error. As I said, it equals up in the big picture but if you take the best defenders of today(under the age of 25) how they will stack up against Cruyff, Maradona, Best etc? It's the other side of the argument...Imagine you are facing one of those side with a weak GK. Your opponent will defo have a GOAT forward/midfield.
