Fantastic Annah and paceme.

@Annahnomoss Id switch Ribery and Hazard. Ribery can do better on the right than hazard imo, while the latter is completely wasted there. Same goes for bigdunc whose not using Reus for his best skills and losing his strengths. Here both are better on the left, but I think Ribery will be much less damaged on the right.

@paceme that is a wonderful team. Well drafted!

Cheers mate. Regarding Hazard and Ribery, they will both have free roles in the offense but Ribery is strict about his positioning on the formation so he will be playing out left. He has been asked to play elsewhere and he refuses, even if in the matches he'd do a role that is nearly identical.

I don't expect to dominate possession so they'd not be out wide almost ever, more like Rooney-Ronaldo-Tevez where none really played as a real wide winger in Europe but rather had free roles and attacked more centrally.

That's fecking awesome mate. Very sexy. That said, I'd consider playing Cannavaro and Thuram centrally and getting someone else out wide.

Agree, it will depend on your rival. I'm not a tiki-taka lover though so much prefer the verticality of playing López instead.

We were talking about non-Europe players, that criterion is completely random (90-99, as if it meant jack) and much harder to research really. Left or right?

Pure counter attacking football.
When defending: Defense sits deep to sulk pressure and move on fast counters, Sammer as the Libero and him with de Boer using distribution to send balls forward to Messi and Eto'o to counter attack. Cocu LCM to cover for Zamrotta.
When attacking: Messi on the free role, Lahm and Zambrotta creating the width, Modric as the forward CM, Sammer as the deep playmaker.

That's the basic version :D

@Stobzilla, that 90-99 caps criterion would have been best used on a stunner of a player, not be left to the rigidity of finding a left winger with that number of caps. Maybe if you played Signori left you could widen the search to include CFs? Not that it helps much. Sent you a couple of options nonetheless.

Aye, that's fair enough. But 1) you don't have a vested interest in keeping up and 2) CTRL + F.

That's what I do. CTRL + F, check if your man is on the list.

Anyway - can't be helped now. We just have to wait. Some more. I'm off to bed anyway - see you all...oh, given the pace of this thing...sometime next month, I guess.

Why on earth didn't you use that for the keeper? There's at least 5 at Friedel's level or better and it's not like there's great outfield players to every upgrade on it. Non-league winner is much better.

When attacking: Messi on the free role, Lahm and Zambrotta creating the width, Modric as the forward CM, Sammer as the deep playmaker.

Looks pretty solid as always, I'm a little worried about lack of creativity from deep at your team and not loving that Mascharno-Simeone combo, but it's not like you lack it upfront with Hagi and Rivaldo. I think it's solid all round. Hopefully Rivaldo won't be a cnut about playing a bit leftish

I'm still in German nationalteam muppet mode, so you should have used that kit and not a Bayern one to win my vote ;) . Other than that I'm not so sure it's as much a counterattacking set-up as you want it to be. So many quality playmakers in the team, why not allow them to control the game? You have a goalkeeper who's good on the ball, an outstanding fullback who loves to influence the game with the ball, a brilliant passer in defense, a libero who excelled in both phases of the game, Modric in midfield and Messi in attack. Let them play with the ball instead of soaking up pressure all the time. I wouldn't see de Boer as a defender suited to defending all the time and you don't have a midfield destroyer who limits your team to a one-dimensional approach.

:D I'm actually too in that mode, did a German one than felt it was weird seeing Messi and Eto'o there so changed to Bayern.

As for the team, yeah I see your point, it turned out to be two ways. I just think people will see Messi on the right in a team who plays possession football and will right away start to think of Argentina in this WC and they were rubbish. Worst finalists ever imo.
I'll probably see it and change it depends on my opponent, but yeah I can definitely play possession football. Thanks mate
 
There's a middle ground between counterattacking and possession football though. There was a time before Mourinho vs Guardiola defined an era of extreme tactics and it was way more entertaining than what we see today in most of the big team clashes.

Yeah I definitely agree. I'm pleased to have a team that can go both ways depending how the match goes on, but I might one to use on of the ways solely if I come against a team that will be harmed by it
