The Criteria Draft - The Drafts

If only one reinforcement, how does upgrades in criteria 8/9 work?

I think upgrades need to be relaxed to...

Two upgrades per round.

1) Not more than 2 players per criteria in full squad, and
2) Not more than 2 players in starting 11 with same criteria.

Means you can have 2 strikers under criteria 4 + 2 Defenders under criteria 6 in your starting 11.

Also means if you have 2 players in criteria 3 after R1, no more players can be picked in future rounds under that criteria.

To be honest I don't give a feck either way.

But I agree on principle that stated rules should apply unless they've been found out to be faulty in one way or another. Which they haven't in this case. So, anyone who doesn't want a rule change in terms of upgrades has a solid case. The opposite view has nothing to do with rights or principles - it's just based on a worry the whole thing may become a bit dull and dead if there are no fresh teams around to look at.

Yeah, one big reason I joined this was the hard rules. Something new apart from former drafts I have been in.

I agree, that it would be a bit dull for the voters especially seeing teams which are really limited, lacking some big names here and there and not improving much as the rounds goes by.

If that is the reason then sure, I am all for it, but in terms of it being some sort of necessity for the managers then I disagree.

People just seem to be bitching because it's hard, but that's the point.

Jeez. No one is bitching man.

I'm not fussed either way, as I said I'm not that invested in this daft and haven't put much time into it.

I just mentioned that the one upgrade number doesn't really work in a draft like this where the constraints are so strict. If you're unlucky there is a huge chance that you literally cannot upgrade at all, if the right player isn't there.

You draft a player that fits another player on your team. If no one possibly fits, toug noogies.

You're up @rpitroda

I was piking on he assumption that if we wanted to upgrade we had to replace one with one. It was one of the reasons why I picked Le Tissier as a fecking third pick.

Michael Reiziger - Played in three different leagues/countries.
Des Walker - Never played in Europe
Tony Adams - Ten seasons at one club
Mark van Bommel - Lost a WC final, never won one.
Robert Prosinečki - Born in Germany, played for Yugoslavia (and Croatia).
Gaizka Mendieta - Never won the league.
Dennis Bergkamp - Played trophyless w/ Kanu at Arsenal, won the league in Holland.
Hristo Stoichkov - Played for a country outside the current top 30.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 98 (96 according to the Swedish FA) caps for Sweden.
Nwankwo Kanu - Played trophyless w/ Bergkamp at Arsenal, won the league in Holland and Nigeria.

Reina - Never won a league
Kelly - Outside FIFA top 30
van Bronkhorst - 2 trophyless seasons with Makaay at Feyenoord
Nesta - 10 seasons at Milan
Lucio - Played in 3 countries
Emerson - Lost a world cup final in 98
Viera - Born in Senegal, played for France
Lampard - Second in Ballon D'Or
Ginola - 17 caps
Le Tissier - Never played in European competition
Villa - 97 caps
Makaay - see van Bronkhorst

Buffon - Ballon d'or Silver

Alaba - Outside top 30 country
Redondo - Less than 30 caps
Ballack - 90-99 caps
Giggs - 10+ years at same club

Thoughts?

Gamarra and Ferdinand seem perfect to me, almost as close as Vidic Ferdinand as you can get.

My midfield three has tenacity and technicality.

Two great wingers, both capable of providing to...

Kluivert, whose big and strong but technical who will allow the 4 of deco Nedved Seedorf and Overmars to get in the game.

I think that the lack of a true DM (or am I the only one here that doesn't rate Guardiola's defensive contribution?) can be used against you if your opponent can highlight it (you will probably struggle against Zidane/Baggio etc). But it's a justified risk, great team you have there.

True. But enough quality players to control the ball and Ferdinand and Gamarra are more than capable defenders IMO. Especially when you consider Ferdinand and Vidic who played without a pure DM and Gamarra and Ferdinand recreate that.

Will depend on who you play, the midfield three is on the light side which the wrong opponent could really abuse but at the same time you will look a clear winner if the opponent can't take advantage of this.

It's a excellent team apart from Clichy who i don't rate. Suppose with Nedved and his work rate in front of him though his defensive ability are less exposed.

Me likes! Sexual on the ball and with more than enough workrate in recovery not to miss a dedicated DM.

God, you are terrible, some really fecking glaring ones out there!

It hurts not to be able to send a few options to BigDunc, but at this stage I'm sure some of them are heavily guarded secrets so better stay clear of it.

"Is that your pick?"

Hey, from what I read he was overshadowed by Chilavert but was good when he played and then they went on to call him a monkey so he must have done something.
