in other words, guuuuuuuuud night, Minaur.
but shame, I was looking forward to that match.

Shame, demon had been playing well this year. Wouldn't have been comfortable for joker.
I got Fritz in five in the other match.
Grass competition in general seems a joke. This half of the men's draw is an absolute joke. Medvedev (who is admittedly useless on grass), Sinner, and Carlos on one side is just too lopsided. They did the same at Roland Garros also with Tsitsipas, Sinner, and Carlos in the same half.
Grass competition in general seems a joke.
Nobody is even bothered to put in time to develop this part of their game either, which is even more pathetic.
The usual suspects in late stages are those whose games have suited grass in the last couple years(Berrettini, etc.)
It's why we've had Raonic and Anderson as finalists in the recent past.
It's made even worse by the fact that the Top 10 when the Big 3 were at their peak had much higher standards across all surfaces.
Berdych, Tsonga, Soderling(for a short time), Murray, Ferrero, Davydenko, Verdasco and Del Potro all pushed their potential ability across all surfaces.
Outside of Alcaraz and Sinner, not sure what to say other than are the newer generations just...... lazier?
I also feel like it's laziness or at least bad mindset, but it doesn't help that the grass season is way too short in comparison to other surfaces (especially the amount of HC tournaments). It's logical to me that most players are worse on grass if they barely play on that surface and don't prioritize it. The difference between generations on how well they do on grass is indeed pretty substantial but I also get the feeling this generation doesn't look at Wimbledon as the most prestigious tournament like previous generations of players and maybe even fans did and thus care less about grass.
Edit: not that other tournaments are more prestigious, but more in the sense of "it's just another slam, on to the next one".
As opposed to.. the sport this forum is really for, where they physically assault fans and racially abuse one another? Cricket is / was called the gentleman’s game btw.Tennis players have got to be some of the most self entitled, whingiest, miserable, silly, up their own arses bellends in the world.
Honestly, every tournament it appears atleast 1 is throwing some kind of fit.
That Ostapenko and Radacanu are both great examples, get a little bit of success and think they know more than their coaches.
Throw Medvedev and Kyrgios into the mix and you've got some fun times.
Thought tennis was supposed to be a gentleman's game?
There is no grass season. It's just Wimbledon and a few weeks of recovery post Roland Garros.
Alcaraz outdoes them allMeddy giving Novak a run for his money when it comes down to horrible overheads. Jesus.
Always thisHe might have the most grand slams but Djokovic will never be put on the pedestal that Federer and to a lesser extent Nadal has. His playing style is effective but extremely dull and his twattish behavior doesn’t make up for it.
Yeah, its been a fairly meh Wimbledon tbh. Sinner vs Carlos is the one thing that could have elevated it and made even Carlos really raise his level but we didn't get that either. I don't think either of Carlos or Novak at their best but feel the latter's experience will just about edge Carlos out in the final.Djoko’s road to the final has been ridiculously easy. Managed to make hard work of a no-name in the second round, did okay against Popyrin, then two walkovers in the fourth and quarters before facing Musetti in a semifinal. We still have no idea if he’s any less vulnerable than he’s been all year.
A strange feeling, the blockbuster final is happening and it feels weirdly underwhelming, given that none of them have faced stiff opposition or had a single really good game.
Possibly the most meh Wimbledon I can remember on the men’s side. The final has a lot of heavylifting to do.Yeah, its been a fairly meh Wimbledon tbh. I'm no fan of Djokovic, but I admit he's one of the all time greats. But I'm sorry he hasn't been challenged at all this tournament and that is a sad indictment of mens tennis, he had a knee op 3 weeks ago and he's 37 ffs and he's in the Wimbledon final Ridiculous.
Even a blockbuster final won't really save the tournament, tbh. Even the French Open wasn't the greatest so really hoping the USO can step it up.Possibly the most meh Wimbledon I can remember on the men’s side. The final has a lot of heavylifting to do.
Novak's gotten a lot of luck with the draws off late though he probably deserves that given he always had the worst of the draws when Rafa and Roger were around. Though given there's barely 3-4 competent players on grass, I guess the only trouble to avoid was Carlos and Sinner and he managed that.Musetti was never winning that, but he really bottled the crunch moments.
Also, how did basically every threat to Djokovic end up on the other side of the draw? Sinner, Alcaraz, Medvedev, etc
So several reasons for this. All due to Wimbledon organisers. No fans for this semi. Very strange

Firstly they don’t let anyone in after 5pm. So if you didn’t get there early and wait around for resale then you won’t get in.
Secondly and most importantly is the shit show of the virtual queue. I was there on Friday with court 1 tickets. Resale starts at 3pm so we went to the booth then. When we got there they said the queue actually started at 10am so we were 3300 in the queue. Anyway it just never went down. We ended up watching sinner on centre court by sneaking in, but when I left at around 9pm we were 1000 in the queue. Centre court was half empty when we were sat in there. Awful organisation.
