I'm not familiar with the respective substances and how they enhance performance, nor the level of ingestion Swiatek. From an optics perspective, it seems incredibly harsh to punish her for this (1 month ban) yet Sinner doesn't serve any ban despite it being the fault of a member of his team. While I don't think Sinner deserves a hefty ban, if someone on his team decks up, him not knowing isn't an excuse. It's nowhere near as sloppy as Halep's team fecking up but just all seems a bit inconsistent.Nice summary in the Guardian:
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...ek-been-banned-and-how-serious-is-the-offence
Low levels banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ) a heart medication were found during a blood test. Her defence was that it was unintentional and arose from contamination in a melatonin supplement she was taking for jetlag.
The ITIA sent some of her tablets and a new unopened pack of tablets from the same batch to be tested. The tests confirmed that the unopened pack of melatonin supplement had the same kind of TMZ contamination.
There are obviously important nuances to each doping case and maybe the levels found in Sinner were miniscule in comparison, which naturally makes it difficult to compare cases.
