Tennis 2024

Colour me surprised. Zverev is actually going for his forehand for a change instead of using it as a rally shot.

Poor set from Alcaraz though. Decision making and errors all over the place.
Zverev was strangely defensive in that first set.

I think Carlos will up his level and Zverevs will drop at some point this set.

Zverev breezing through service games. Think if Carlos hangs with him through this set Zverez will
start missing a fair few balls that are all dropping in now.

Don't think the best idea is to constantly try and hit through Zverev. He's one of the best movers on clay and his defense is solid.
He's stopped rallying his forehand as well.

Alcaraz has completely abandoned the variety he was giving Zverev in the first.

He's throwing in the drop shots and coming to the net quite often now.

Love that from Carlitos, lots of feel shots to change it up after getting nothing out of the baseline.

Needs to give Zverev a tough hold.

Aggression paid off for a handful of points and Zverev returns to being all over him.... kudos to Zverez for not losing his head for that. Pivotal moments, Alcaraz looking to hold on and find moment where the aggression pays off, Zverev just needs to continue to push back and force errors.

Just not good enough from Zverev on the break points. Too passive when he had a second serve to return as well.

Would be nice to have a tight set at least. Feels like apart from the Zverev Rune match, there's been barely any in the last 3-4 rounds.

Alcaraz looks like he's got no confidence in his own ability to hit the ball anymore.

No pace or depth.

Just sticking to the plan for Zverev, consistent defence paying off, letting Carlos make the errors.

Carlos is rushing too much. He's used to having his way with people from the baseline and struggling to cope with zverev from back there

Why does Ferrero not get more warnings for coaching basically 100% of the time?

I went away at 5-2 after Carlos seemed to have gotten his mojo back. This... Was unexpected.

Alcaraz looking very tight, worried about errors.

At least we can hope for a really crushing defeat for Zverez if Carlos comes back and does it.

If not I’ll be avoiding tennis media for at least a few weeks.

I can't tell if it's inexperience, but Alcaraz going big and missing on returns instead of playing himself into the point, and then refusing to pull the trigger mid-rally on short balls is problematic.
