Unbelievable these misses by Fed.

Good stuff from Delpo, not a match Federer will want to dwell on... Poor shot choices and some shocking footwork at times. Nice to see Delpo win a Masters at last though, thoroughly deserved and especially nice after everything he's been through.

Fed had a couple of championship points but couldn't put it away. That surely weighed on him in the tie break.

Got to be the worst tie breaker I've seen Fed play.

In any case, great match. Congrats to DelPo.

You can't win it all.

After AO everything else this year I consider a bonus so not very disappointed. Huge props to DelPo.

The last tie break was ugly to watch though.

Horrible service game by Federer when he had the match on his racquet at 40-15.

Anyway, congrats to Del Potro. A genuinely nice guy and a fierce competitor. Federer has had a fantastic start to 2018 as well. Should now look forward to Miami.

Congrats to DelPo. Great match from him.

A really disppointing tiebreaker from Federer. Still unsure why he was in a bad mood. After getting broken when serving for the title he had a pop at the umpire again.

You must be watching another match. Its been dead even world class tennis throughout.
He has it in him against Federer. Tries to act unbiased but the true colours always show through in his posts. It was class from both ends until that tie breaker.

Deserved winner. Massive choke from Federer, but c'mon, the guy's 36 and he looked tired as feck. Goes to show what it takes to take him down, Del Potro was fantastic throughout. He should contend for all big titles if he keeps up this form.

Shit happens but with at least 2 majors still to play for in this calendar year where he has a great chance, he should be able to put this behind him quickly.

If Del Potro can carry on in this form, he will be a genuine threat for everyone this season.

Don't generally see him sport stubbles. Must have been sick or something. In any case, still #1 and the GOAT. If he carries on like he has started, I can see him at least win Wimbledon if he stays healthy.

He's been grumpy all week, presumably due to his cold. Very edgy today but then it was a Masters final.

What a match that was. Both played unbelievably good.

Congrats to del Potro, So happy for him. But really Federer lost the match to himself. Should have killed del Potro on the 3rd set but he just couldn't finish the job.

Hoping Del Po does the wise thing and skip Miami. He doesn’t need to play back to back masters and has to look after his body now. If he got knocked out in the early rounds then obviously he should play.

this was a final that epitomizes everything I love about tennis. Drama, frustration, lots of momentum changes and feck these guys can hit a forehand :)

Huge choke from Fed when serving for the match but really happy for Delpo who won it. Really deserved a MS shield and has played excellent tennis the whole week to get it.

Hopefully the rumors he's skipping clay isn't true and he keeps that form and health.

Del Po or Fed..or both?

Del Po or Fed..or both?
Both. For Fed it's almost 100% sure I guess, but Delpo recently said he's thinking of skipping clay saying something along the lines that it's a surface that makes him run more and he doesn't like that.

Probably he won't feature at MC for sure as it's not mandatory event and would either cite wrist injury or bomb early if he isn't interested in playing on clay.

Found the quote:

"It’s one of my goals for this year to try to play all tournaments. I like to play on all surfaces. I played Auckland, Melbourne, Delray, Acapulco. This is my fifth tournament, and I will play Miami. Then I will stop for a while and see whether I am available to play on clay, because my body does not like to play on this surface. But if I am still healthy, I would love to play the whole season and almost 20 tournaments. My body does not like to play on clay because I have to run a lot. I prefer a faster surface."

Serena facing Osaka in the first round at Miami today in what could well be a changing of the guard in women's tennis.

Cheers for the reminder. Put a notification put on for the match so will try to watch if I'm home.

I'm interested to see where Serena winds up at the end of this year. She was in the 600s last week and is now 450 after Indian Wells. If she wins Miami should rise as high as 50. I'd imagine she will finish the year in the top 5 or better.

Osaka takes the first set in impressive fashion. Serena started the stronger, but never managed to break and Osaka has grown into it.

Be interesting to see what Serena's schedule will look like in the next few months, she's still miles off. Charleston is surely a given but after that the travel aspect comes into it with the European clay swing.

Novak just fallen a set down to Paire in his first match in Miami

Please Novak don’t show up on court if you ain’t ready.

I think also he needs his old coach back who was with him a long time.

Djokovic is claiming he is pain free. But the last two matches have been really appalling. He looks worse than Nadal did when he came back from injury in 2015. Nadal wasn’t losing in first rounds.

What's wrong with Novak? Looks ill

Novak has been dealing with some massively issues in the last couple of years. His parents are not on good terms with his wife, his wife is influencing him in the worst possible way, his brother is suffering from depression and has fallen prey to that ‘peace & love’ guru Imaz, Nole doesn’t have a proper coach, the arrangement with Agassi and Stepanek is a farce, his head is not in the right place, his diet is appalling, he just looks lost and depressed most of the time. Absolutely sad to see what’s happening.

PS. One of Jelena’s favourite books is “The mask of masculinity”. It’s about men embracing their vulnerability and other such nonsense, god only knows what other crap she’s filing Nole’s head with. No wonder his dad can’t stand her guts. Nole is more focused on Jelena’s “dream come true” vegan restaurant than on tennis. The guy is a complete mess.

Federer picking up where he left off, taken to a third set by the Kokk.

Federer looked ropey as fuuuuuck. Timing looked completely off. Really hard to know whether it's just one of those matches, a bit of tiredness, or the back injury that was being speculated last week. Possible all of the above. Kokkinakis did great, though. Never let him settle.

Watched the back end of that final set. Kokkinakis played well but Federer looked off.

Given all the injuries he's had, all I really know him for is when Kyrgios said he banged Wawrinka's girlfriend.
