Horrible performance from Fed, Kokkinakis was decent if unspectacular. Whatever's been up with him lately hopefully it's sorted by the time Stuttgart comes around.

ATP in a really sad place right now and it will not be helped by Fed skipping the clay again

He definitely wasn't horrible. More like a bit pedestrian. The kid played at a very high level.

Yep at the moment I’m hoping Del Potro can win Miami because he’s not too bad on clay. He has a tough match vs Nishikori tomorrow.

Wawrinka missed the last two tournaments to get ready for clay.

But at the moment it’s really in a poor state of affairs. That’s why I’m hoping Del Potro is the guy who can challenge Fed and Nadal this year. I don’t think Murray, Wawrinka or Djokovic will be ready.

Novak has been dealing with some massively issues in the last couple of years. His parents are not on good terms with his wife, his wife is influencing him in the worst possible way, his brother is suffering from depression and has fallen prey to that ‘peace & love’ guru Imaz, Nole doesn’t have a proper coach, the arrangement with Agassi and Stepanek is a farce, his head is not in the right place, his diet is appalling, he just looks lost and depressed most of the time. Absolutely sad to see what’s happening.

PS. One of Jelena’s favourite books is “The mask of masculinity”. It’s about men embracing their vulnerability and other such nonsense, god only knows what other crap she’s filing Nole’s head with. No wonder his dad can’t stand her guts. Nole is more focused on Jelena’s “dream come true” vegan restaurant than on tennis. The guy is a complete mess.
Sad. He was an absolute beast, I hope he somehow turns it around.

Fed just looked bored and irritated.

Without Nadal to keep him sharp and motivated, his level has dropped off a lot. Hasn’t gotten anywhere near his IW 2017 form since maybe the Halle final last year.

ATP is a rubbish place right now and it really doesn't look like it can pick up anytime soon. Been in a steady downward spiral since the start of last season.

Kokkinakis gets pipped in a close 3 setter with Verdasco. Shapovalov up next on today' schedule.

Or maybe he just ran out of the PEDs? That's sounds more plausible than blaming his wife. Some say that the whole downfall started once his affairs were discovered.

Del Po wins a thriller against Raonic. 15 straight wins for him now.

Here we go.

Did Serena, Murray and Wawrinka run out of PEDs too?

Not everybody is like Fed and Nadal where they can come back from long lay offs especially in their 30s.

Let’s just wait and see for Djokovic. But most tennis players in their 30s hit a downward slope.

Isner takes the first set 6-1.

Del Po looks shattered. Great set from Isner though.

117mph winner from Isner... Can only think of Blake and Monfils ever hitting faster than that.

Very impressive performance from Sloane Stephens today. Wouldn't be surprised if she takes another slam this year.

Agassi has left Djokovic citing that they were disagreeing too much.

Isner winning Miami...Feck me the state of men's tennis right now..

He has been with her since before he turned professional, I think, so harsh to say that his wife has been a bad influence.

More like, it is a natural. Most tennis players drop in quality when they reach 30. Not everyone can be a Fed and play forever.

Yeah but not as dramatically as he has. He literally went from being #1 and moving towards being included in the GOAT discussion, to being rubbish within a year.

Agreed. Elbow issue aside it almost seems he cannot be fussed with Tennis anymore.

Nadal now back. Won in straight sets vs Kohlschreiber in the Davis Cup. Didn't watch it and nice opponent for him on his comeback.

Plays Zverev on Sunday, so that should give a better indication of where he's at.

Nadal beat him with ease. Good sign as Zverev isn’t a bad clay court player.

Novak finally gets a win. Beat Coric 7-6, 7-5

He's got a tough draw here though projected to play:
R3: Thiem
QF: Nadal
SF: Goffin
F: Zverev

Thiem - Nadal tomorrow. Think it will give us a good expectation of what happens at Roland Garros.

Both coming back from injuries (though Nadal played Davis Cup) so neither should be at their best.

Theim won't trouble Nadal, it'll be something like 6-2 6-3 at best. Think there were a few positives for Djokovic to take from this week, looked like he cared a lot more than he did in IW and Miami at least. Avoiding a beatdown from Rafa might not be the worst thing in the long run too.

After trailing Goffin 1 - 5 in the 2nd, Grisho wins 5 games in a row and the following breaker.
