Tennis 2017

Just as a defence of woman's tennis (Serena aside) it's largely unpredictable. You hear people say the mens game is too predictable, same faces and not enough young guns. Women's tennis is anyone's game.

I'm gonna be throwing some accas down for each day, but don't think I'll bother with the WTA. Don't watch it enough, and anything can happen.

I never bet on womens since 2012.

I came close to winning 10 grand in the french open 2012 as I got all of my accas right for round one. Then it came to the last match involving Serena Williams. Fair to say I was confident as she never got knocked out of a first round grandslam ever and obviously was clear favourite. Then she lost to some unknown french journey women.

 ahh man, that must hurt.

I might just put one on for today. Be suprised if I get even half of them right.

Hope Schiavone has a good match against Muguruza. She's the only female player I sometimes enjoy watching.

19 year old prospect Rublev is absolutely hammering Diego Schwarzman right now. 6:0

I see Aljaz Bedene is already talking about switching his allegiance back to Slovenia so he can compete in the Olympics . What an absolute farce, I certainly don't consider him British (especially now) and if you were Slovenian would you really welcome him back after he ditched you for personal gain?!

Konta has majorly bottled a match there  Unbelievable, at one point her odds were like 1.01 to win the match, she looked unstoppable, then turned very average making loads of stupid mistakes. The other lass didn't even play well in the last set either.

How can tennis players just switch? I say GB dump him, and Slovenia don't take him back, leaving him in no mans land.

Despite never having won a match at Roland Garros they put her as #7 seed. There must be some emphasis put on previous performances at the venue in question.

It's a slap in the face to GB tennis, but also to Slovenia. I agree with you to be honest but I wonder whether the nations have any say in it or whether the ITF decide based on the facts.

Just saw Fed is skipping the French. Suppose its Wimbledon or bust now.

I don't believe he'll see it that way as well. Probably more than happy with the season already (still most successful player, isn't he?), even an early loss at Wimbledon (which won't happen, I'm sure of it), won't be too damaging to him.

I had the audacity to believe he may be looking at pursuing a slam this year and then retire after the US.

I suppose winning two out of four in one year at age 35/6 would make for a glorious retirement and unquestionable cementing of GOAT status.

Oh, it would be brilliant, but I believe he already said he plans to play beyond this year no matter what happens. Lets go for 20 first! :D

And cementing was done long time ago, this year there's only some expanded construction of various towers on that glorious GOAT castle.

Verdasco wins.

tbf, that was incredibly tough draw for the first round match. it's like playing Isner in first round of Wimbledon.

personally, I thought he'd beat Verdasco but still loose against one of those more consistent clay players like Cuevas or Agut.

Yeah I did say a few days ago that Verdasco could be a tricky opponent on his day. I wish I put a bet on it now.

Always glad when Konta loses, one of the more suspicious players on tour. Back to her obscure Spanish camp she goes.
Her rise has been pretty random, but with the WTA, unpredictability is second nature

Last look at the scores and Kyrgios looks set to go 2-1 down against Anderson.

Kyle Edmund also set to make R3.

Del Porto vs Murray next round.

As for Berdych he's been a mainly decent player. He's been in the top 10 for a while so he deserves credit for that. Just never could make that breakthrough like Wawrinka.Tsonga is the same.

Del Potro is probably the nicest guy on tour, what a champion.
Hope he beats Murray, he deserves all the success in the world.

what happened to him?
He rolled his ankle on some sort of artificial turf at the end of the court when he was reaching for a deep ball :( You could see after the very first replay he wasn't going to be able to carry on. Such a shame because he wasted three set points right before that, shouldn't even have happened. Anti-climax.

Not even Roger could save what's been a boring tournament so far... The Australian Open really spoiled us. Rafa looking good for a triple bagel right now, maybe they could just give him the trophy now and start the grass court season already.
