Tennis 2015

This has to be some kind of record for incorrect calls in a match at this stage, fecking hell, some of them are clearly in or clearly out and getting called wrong. I'd be fuming if I was one of the players here, it's just stop starting the game, and frustrating everyone.

Yeah its been absolutely ridiculous. Wozniacki might as well officiate as well as play. She alone has correctly challenged more then half a dozen calls.

Yeah, they must have literally just dragged randoms off the street and asked them to do this. Hope none of these end up at Wimbledon. It's been a joke.

Also, did you see earlier where Wozniacki played the point, then challenged it correctly? I thought she was absolutely right to do so, but the commentators and Petkovic didn't seem to think so. She couldn't exactly stop play incase it was in, but you could tell from her initial shot on it she didn't think it was in and clearly played on her mind in that rally.

I haven't seen the point you're referring, and I might be misunderstanding you, but those are the rules. They're in place to prevent players from making dubious challenges after they've lost the point. If you think it's out then stop the point and risk losing it. It's a fair system.

wimbledon draw comes out tomorrow...

fingers crossed that murray ends up in novak's half. for pretty much the first time ever, as a federer fan i couldn't really care less where nadal ends up because there's every chance he'll get knocked out in the first couple of rounds anyway.

But the amount of incorrect calls and stuff being as they are were obviously playing on her mind. I thought it was pretty fair the way it was done.

You are right of course, if you think it's out, stop play and challenge, but really, that shouldn't be the responsibility of the player so often. The number of incorrect calls was astonishing. Wozniacki had already challenged and won about 5 calls at that point so it certainly becomes distracting when you have to play line judge as well.

It was just a pitiful job by the officials in that match.

What do people make of the draw?

Also, looked at the weather forecast for London and it looks as if we're in for a hot first week at Wimbledon. Just praying it doesn't rain on the second Monday though when I go.

Murray's draw looks difficult on paper, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise for Nadal to lose before the quarters (Murray would probably beat him pretty easily anyway) and Federer to lose before the semis. And Tsonga's got a tough task to just reach the last 16. So Murray could be looking at something like Dolgopolov/Karlovic, Ferrer, Berdych, which isn't too daunting. Tough first round for Djokovic but after that his draw looks pretty straightforward.

Women's tennis is absolutely appalling thesedays. Also, the whole 'coaching' thing is a joke.

Murray will be fairly pleased with that draw. If he plays near his best then Tsonga isn't touching him on grass. Nadal would have to defy both time and form. Federer is a real test in the semi finals but, again, it isn't a match Murray should be losing given his form and fitness. In short, I'm confident.

Djokovic has a shocking first round draw in the form of Kohli. I'd expect him to win but wouldn't be surprised if he drops a set.

That's if Federer makes it to semi finals. In a normal event, when there's three sets that is fine for Federer. Problem for Federer is that his body just can't cope with a grandslam and at times gets blown away by players like Cilic and Seppi in the past year.

But would love to see that semi final. Anybody planning on going to Wimbledon?

Ferrer pulled out with an elbow injury. Not that he would have been a huge danger for the top players, but there is a chance for one of the lower ranked guys in his section of the draw to sneak through a round or two.

I'm going for the second Monday. May try get tickets for the mens quarters and final on ticketmaster, though unsurprisingly, I hear they sell out within seconds. Pricey too, so not too desperate to go.

First time watching tennis live and really looking forward, to it, just hope the weather holds up this week and on the Monday I'm there.

Booked Friday off work for 3rd round day and hopefully some half decent games on the outside courts, weather looks like it might break Thursday/Friday though :nervous: Been before when it was a wash out on one of the opening days, but managed to get resale tickets for centre when Murray was playing in the evening so worked out alright.

Anyone watching the Davis Cup?I love how raucous the crowd gets in these ties.

Anyway GB just need to win this match to beat France and get through to the semi-final for the first time in years. After looking down and out Andy Murray has just taken the second set to level his match against Gilles Simon
and now just broke Simon in the third.

Come on GB!

"Second serve."

Great Britain vs Australia in September . Bring it on.

So Kyrgios just told Wawrinka mid-match that Kokkinakis slept with Stan's girlfriend...

They really need to change the WTA to 5-setters. Looking at ATP Montreal today and yesterday a gaggle of seeds just got raped WTA style. I think the terrible inconsistency in WTA is almost 100% down to being 3-sets over anything else. Djokovic would be out in r4 in wimbledon if it were a 3-setter. It just needs to change. The 3 sets is just too damn volatile.

The masters tourneys really annoy me with half the seeds dropping out in the first or second round.

Worst has been said, in every sport. Get with competitiveness.

Did it at least work for all this fuss?

He is. Nothing new from him. Wawrinka need to give up in the third set because of a back injury. Stan and his coach are pissed, but Kyrgios doesn't think there is a reason for an apology.

Technically he already apologised: "Sorry to tell you that mate".

He is such a twat. Just hope he loses every matches he plays. It's quite hard not to like tennis players. But he's making it real easy to hate him.

True. I was thinking same earlier in the day after coming across the news.

I dont see any issue with it, Stan sledged nick and nick responded and ended the argument.

Only have Nick's word that anything was said from Stan. I don't mind sledging but why bring two other people into it? (publically). Just no need to drop his mate in it and call-out a 19 year old girl in front of the world. Just pointless. He really needs to grow up. Is not likable at all.

Nadal is done.
That'd be quite sad if true. Injury basically ruined what he could have achieved then. He's still one of the greats of the game but he could have quite easily surpassed Federer grand slam count had he avoided injuries.

Nishikori match was big for Nadal. Proves yet again that it isn't a fitness/mental issue, it is just that these players are now much much better than him.
