Sverre Nypan | Norwegian media: Will do a PL tour in December

100%. People say he's too young to have minutes in the first team, but he'd be fighting with Rashford, Mount, Garnacho for minutes and none of them are in form.

Was Mount doing this at 16/17?

He's clearly a bigger talent than Mount. Might be better to compare him to Amad

I haven't watched much of these wonderkid compilations before so I don't have to much to go off, but I really like his composure, the switches, the vision, and his close control/technique.
Could he turn into a tempo-setting kind of player?
We could probably do with one of those.

He barely trains due to earlier infection, niggling injuries and carefully managing his workload due to his age. And whilst he got the foundation to be a future star player, and also playing with remarkable consistency, especially due to his age and previously mentioned situation, he still needs a bit of work to be ready for the PL. As I mentioned, his pressing isn't all that yet, for example. The main talk in Norway is a "buy with loan back for six months" agreement. Looking from the outside, Rosenborg needs a lot of credit for how they have developed him, so loaning him back might be a wise decision long-term.

I'd expect a similar rotational role for Nypan that Bergvall and Gray have at Spurs currently, if we managed to signed him. Would that be a realistic expectation?
I’d say that’s an unrealistic expectation, at least for the short term. I’d expect him to get time to settle in until the summer and then a loan to championship, Ligue 1, Bundesliga etc. before perhaps being an option for the 26/27-season.
He’s not part of our national team (never even been called up), and there’s a very big gap between the Norwegian league and the premier league, so I would say it’s highly unlikely that he could be considered a rotational option this season at least.

Nypan and Diego Leon. Hope we continue to look at this type of transfer. Chelsea have snapped up so many wonder kids recently, Paez and Estevao look excellent.

I like the look of him. He's looks as ambipedal as Greenwood did, has vision, long passing, incisive passing and can carry the ball. Can play CAM or CM. Not sure able his defensive ability or his athleticism.

Nypan is very good at progressing the ball through the middle, with dribbling or one-twos. His passing is good, and he often switches play in advanced areas. He's got a good engine, and is deceptivly fast and strong.

He's also good in and around the box, where he often runs in between the CB and FB to find crossing positions, or find space in the box to finish. When things work out for him he looks like a complete box to box midfielder with goals and assists in his game.

What he still needs to improve is awareness, consistency and decision making. It happens to often that he doesn't know where his opponents are, and turns straight into trouble in dangerous areas. He can also disappear from matches from time to time.

So it will be interesting to see if he can adopt to the PL, and if he can learn when to play it simple and when to try the difficult dribbles. Maybe a loan to the Championship or BL would be the best place to start.

Hang on, just seen some of the process being quoted, he will not be cheap.

Norwegian clubs never get much from selling players.
It will never be close to what we paid for Amad, or someone from bigger leagues.
I can see it be somewhere around 10 mill.

Based on some of the quotes ranging from 83mill to 7m, I think it'll be around 15mill.

So from reading this thread it’s fair to say that he will be straight in the team, take the PL by storm, be made captain next season and win the Balon D’or the following season.

Why do fans continuously put high expectations on fellas who aren’t out of their teenage years yet? Let them slope around like Kevin

would this be a cheap punt?

looks quite talented but I don't think we can afford to spend a lot on a player a couple of years off the first team

sofascore has him as Rosenborg's 3rd best player behind a 30 year old midfielder and a 19 year old winger - Broholm

Not familliar with the website, but looking at Utd's page it has the same 5 players as our best players in the premier league as whoscored, just in a different order

Rosenborg themselves are 4th, so a good team in their league but not dominating every team and they came 9th last season. Bodoe/Glimt who we just played won that league and are top again this season

Nypan isnt in sofascore's Eliteserien team of the season, a bit short of that mark but the players in the midfield spots are 2x 30 year olds and a 27 year old. He is however in the team of the week alongside 2 of the others from team of the season

They have a season heatmap for Nypan

We can see he likes to linkup down the left

Picking some stats from his page, he's been in the team of the week 3 times

8 goals scored, 7 assists

He averages 2 shots per game and has 8 big chances missed this season. So potentially double his goals if he was a a top finisher. He has 1 goal from outside the box, 6 with his right foot, 1 with his left and 1 with his head. All but 1 goal are from open play, he scored 1 penalty

1.4 key passes. Not a huge amount of key passes there, we have plenty of players averaging more than that but its the same as Mount and Rashford and behind 6 of our players. He has 7 big chances created, I'll assume these are times he set up a big chance and a teammate missed it.

1.4 successful dribbles per game with 57% success rate, so more often than not he's able to get past his player

1.9 tackles and 0.5 tackles per game would have him winning the ball more than Eriksen for us. We have very combative midfielders playing so its short of the likes of Ugarte, Casemiro, and Mainoo. Mount makes more tackles but 0 interceptions so far so probably about the same

2 yellow cards

Understandably given he's 17 he isnt among the top players in the league yet. Statistically he comes in at 18th with the top players around 30, in their late 20s, Hauge is 25 and 8th. Evjen is 24 and 11th, hes the left footer who took his goal nicely against us for Bodoe. Then theres Nypan's teammate 19 year old Broholm at 14th, ex-United Daehli 29 years old and 15th. Orjasaeter is 21 and 17th just in front of Nypan.

All that being said he could probably stay in Norway another year and try to compete with the best players or he could move to a better team and league and improve more there

I think if we do sign him in Jan I think we'd mostly see him rotated in for cup games and against the teams in the bottom 3 or 4 positions and then he'd get more chances as time goes on. If he does well by the end of the season I expect he'd at least be a regular sub coming on and then getting him ready to try and keep a place in the team next season competing against our number 10s for the 2 spots.

I think chances are good we'll sign a #10 who has already shown their quality in a good league in the summer so he'd have competition from Bruno, Mount, Amad, new signing 10 and we'll see what happens with Garnacho and Rashford and whether the manager still tries to play them in that position. I think he's likely be viewed more as a backup and rotation for our 2x 10s next season off the bench and occasional games. But after a year or two he might be able to hold the spot a starting spot himself

if we bought him i wouldn't mind if we put him on the same path as Amad, few loans to a different leagues, play pre-seasons with United and then when ready integrated to the squad .
