Summer Transfer Tweets 2016

The money is there this summer to buy Pogba if required it's just do United actually want him, when you think the transfer budget is around £200M when still adhering to FFP plus paying off the Glazer-debt, 30M for Bailly, money for the galactico player of the year, Ibra on a free, leaves money for a top winger.

They are still both error prone and Stones was coming off a summer of turmoil, the bottom line is both are young and have raw aspects to their games, but the double standards for the English player is clear.
Oh the irony... :confused::lol:
I'd recommend a mirror.

Personally think Stones is better than Baily when all things are considered. People will get to see this next season.Defense is not where you expect a young player to be ready from the get go.
I saw Bailly in the last nations cup and he didn't strike me as someone who is a top defender.people will get to see this next season,he is mostly physical attributes and pairing him with Smalling is disaster waiting to happen. The cafe will jump on you and harras you if you question the special ones decision as he is the all knowing but we shall see.
Some crap stuff like a defender is primarily there to defend, I call it nonsense as you will come to see that most top teams in europe have defenders with good technical abilities.
If a defender is primarily there to defend while then do you need the whole team e.g the Wide forward to defend and midfielders and attackers to put a defensive shift. Why not everybody concentrate on his job?
Football has evolved and ball playing defenders are becoming more important component of a top team, full backs must be as good defensively as they are attacking, the game has changed!

Baily played against the best in Europe , thats against both Madrids and Barca . You should watch those performaces .

Stones is good ball playing CB with below par concentration in defending. Unless he improves a lot in defending he is in not match for baily in terms of defending and Baily is not match for stones for the ball playing ability . Baily is built for the EPL where as Stones is built for Barca.

We will have our own stones in Williams and Tuanzbe. So I'm not really bothered about what will happend to Stones.

I am just going to laugh when Stones has to defend against Martial or Embolo/Zlatan (if Mourinho buys them). Unless Messi signs for Man City, I think we'll do fine against Pep.

Ok, let me get this right. If a player is linked to United he is class but as soon as City are in for him , he is crap? Ed, put these poor muppets out of their misery!

Nonsense post. Stones has been called overrated whenever he was linked to United too. Next time, before taking the high ground or whatever you wanted to prove it with this post, try using your brain.

Fairly even overall, any passing stats?

What?

He's beating him in defensive errors, errors leading to goals, tackles won, interceptions and clearances. That's five pretty important stats for a central defender. How's it fairly even? English bias works both ways.

There's virtually nothing between them in those stats, it's not like one is massively ahead of the other in any of the categories bar Bailly on interceptions and Stones with less fouls.

Of course a defender's job primarily to defend. They're called DEFENDERS for a reason.

All the best teams of the past few years have had CBs who can defend very well, and the best of the best have defenders who can defend well and pass out. But defence is the priority for all of them. Look at Barca with Pique and previously Puyol. Bayern with Boateng and whoever was beside him when they won the treble. Real Madrid with Ramos and Pepe. When we won the Champions league we had Rio and Vidic. ALL of these players can defend very well, and defence was their priority over passing out the back. Yes the best of them could play with the ball at their feet well but it was not their priority over actual defending.

Of course a defender is there to defend but technical ability is becoming more and more important and Barcelona,Real Madrid or Bayern will not have a player of Smalling ' s technical ability in defense, and if he must play he should be paired with someone that will compensate for his poor technique. Teams are becoming very good in pressing from the front and Smalling has shown he can't live with that . Personally don't think a pairing of Bailly and Smalling is ideal.
Over the last few years I am yet to see an elite team with a centre back pairing that have such 'diminished' technical ability.

De Gea interview. Most important points: Happy at United, no contact with Real, three more years in Manchester, very happy with the purchase of Mourinho, wants to concentrate on Eurocopa now. He doesn't want to answer how he would explain going to Real to Atleti's support though

Stones is an idiot if he leaves just after Koeman arrives. He has plenty of time to join a big club (proper big club, not City) and I'm sure if finances are an issue, Evertons new owners would only be happy to give his contract a boost.

There is no better manager for him to train under for a couple of years. Learn from one of the best exponents of his style of defending ever, and then as he really begins to meet his potential, he can move to a giant like Barca, Real, Bayern or United.
So true, diarm. Even if it's only for another season.

I get that the PSG owner is disappointed with the CL exit to City, but sacking a manager after winning the domestic treble is a bit ridiculous regardless of it being a shit league.

I Hope Emery realize that PSG owners consider anything less than winning CL + every other domestic trophy a very bad season. I dont think he cares too much though as its gonna be 1 years work but getting paid for 3.

Le Parisien say PSG & Unai Emery have agreed a 3-year contract. Announcement unlikely before next week as talks with Laurent Blanc continue.

Sounds like it's all in line with PSG trying to poke their nose in to get Mourinho. Some called out Castles saying it was nonsense as Blanc was going to stay, but clearly not the case.

Atleti want Diego Costa, but as long as Chelsea haven't lined up a replacement nothing is going to happen. They are hoping for a domino effect – Morata to Chelsea, Costa back to Atleti.

Bloody hell - they're quickly becoming my most hated non-Premier League club (after Real Madrid) - sacking there manager after winning the league by 31 points? I know it's a poor league and all, but still.

Griezmann to United?

Nah, they want a better player in their starting line-up to start instead of Torres. Simeone wants to have a tougher, more physical player up front and Torres isn't doing as well as Costa has done and can still do in his system. Costa - Griezmann would be a very good duo for Atletico.

Real use their mouthpiece Marca to tell us: De Gea is NOT going to Real. The decision has firmly been made and while Zidane also thinks that De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world he wants to continue with Keylor Navas, who had a superb season on his own.

Madrid won't sell Morata to Chelsea as they'd be helping Atletico.

Today's @diarioas front cover: "Battle for Pogba". Mourinho offers €100m, but Juve want €120m.

From what I've seen and read yesterday they are citing a crappy Italian source (Tuttosport or Gazetta) for their claim we bid €100m. Load of shite...

Stones may come good. Bailly may flop. It's all speculation. All we can do is judge both players on their previous seasons. Bailly's was good, Stones' was shite. We've not seen Bailly's game dip to the levels that Stones' game did this past season.
