You had me at Neville, I want!
Actually, Ivanovic is a better example because he can definitely play centrally and he is pretty big for a fullback (187cm) but he is still pacy and relatively agile.

I caught few games of him at DM. Seems similar to Gilberto Silva. Interesting indeed. Not sure whether he would be our RB or DM at this rate.He can play as a DM which is interesting too.
My guess would be that he would start at right back and then be moved to DM for the last 20 minutes if we are winning as we protect the lead.I caught few games of him at DM. Seems similar to Gilberto Silva. Interesting indeed. Not sure whether he would be our RB or DM at this rate.
He is like Neville, a vintage fullback who isn't bad going forward, from time to time you see him do something crazy around the opposing box as if he was channeling his inside Daniel Alves but that's rare and probably a fluke.
I don't know bout that. Just thinking Pogba Fabinho would be similar to Vieira GilbertoMy guess would be that he would start at right back and then be moved to DM for the last 20 minutes if we are winning as we protect the lead.
They've brought in two promising full-backs.
Marseille winger Georges Kevin Nkoudou has decided to join Tottenham Hotspur in a €13m deal

Pochettino assured the winger that he would be an important player immediately for Spurs, receiving first team playing time by the bucketload.
I'm just cautious when it comes to Brazillian players especially. It almost seem that some use our name to drum up interest elsewhere. So I am always sceptical. It's not really surprising that nothing happened, last season he was among the non-transferable players, so if United came for him Monaco probably asked for a huge fee. But this season, he is transferable.

Think of the past names we have been linked with. Everton Ribereiro, Pato(we had apparently agreed a fee for him), Firmino (had a medical with us), Lucas Silva
I guess we'll see how serious this link is.
I'm not saying he is the leak. I'm questioning whether whoever brings up this rumours can really be trusted. He hasn't publicly asked to move and he is never in the papers. He is the most silent Brazilian that I have seen, so I don't think that it comes from him and I don't even think that he is after a move.
I can't see it - even though they were after Götze.
Apparently N'Jie might be out in conjunction with this deal - http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2016/marseille-enquire-for-the-loan-of-clinton-njie/I can. If you look at their right wing options its:
- Lamela
- Son (also used on left)
- N'Jie (natural position is CF)
Given that they're in the Champions League they'll have plenty of games and require rotation.

I guess we will see in a few weeks.
Fair enough. The next weeks won't tell you a thing though, the rumour can be true even if he stays or joins an other club.
and you forgot about Chadli.

Valencia really isn't as bad at RB as a lot of our fans seem to make out. Fabinho though is already at the same level (similar in style too) if not already slightly ahead of him and is only 22 years old.
As long as he doesn't cost us the earth then the signing makes a lot of sense, although probaby not completely necessary just yet.
He plays on the left.
Like Nkoudou.
In before Glaston tells all of us he is world class & this is the deal of the transfer window.
Berry Berry Shrew!
After what the last manager pissed about doing, yeah, we need to. Out of thr playerd he brought in. It looks like only 3 have a chance of staying on. Martial, Schniederlin and Darmian with Shaw and Herrera being Moyes buys.
Not getting Jose in 2013 set us back a long way. Add a potential new CB and most of the team has been rebuilt.
On a serious note I do hope he gets picked on form and form alone . Since Ferguson far to many managers (moyes and LVG) have paid him to much respect and formed some sort if undroppable love in with him .Thought i saw the other day that the chinese transfer window closed. Dreams crushed, i know...
Varela has been here for 3 years or less if considering his loan spell. As we see plenty of him, his ceiling is not that high. He has not improved much since his arrival and not reliable defensively. Not particular young either. Rather this developing time goes to a younger player.Stupid if we don't give Darmian and Varela another year.
I actually like him, I think he is good. Not Pogba level obviously, but good enough for meNot Matuidi, pointless.
It seems same old story that seems to get repeated every week...and Woody does love preparing bids!

Couldn't agree more. I think in a few months a lot of people will be regretting letting him go without a fightHe'd add nothing to what we already have IMO, plus he's really sloppy when he tries to run with the ball, if we wanted a workhorse we should have went for Kante.

Sorry, this is terrible argument. Matuidi is not your Kante kind of workhorse. Matuidi offer presence and being more useful offensive while certain good contribution in defense too. Matuidi is more balanced and easier to utilize than Kante. Matuidi has showed more tactical discipline than what. I see from Kante. Matuidi often does well in big game too for several seasons. He'd add nothing to what we already have IMO, plus he's really sloppy when he tries to run with the ball, if we wanted a workhorse we should have went for Kante.

Kante only has one season to talk about. There is nothing to suggest he still has room to improve. To replicate his last season form may also be another question. The kind of workhorse like Kante can disharmonize a team balance if not being used correctly. Matuidi type is more like Fletcher and less self destruct.
One season. There has many players who has one great season and disappear. Moving to another club and play in a different system. Kante didn't do well with France different set up. Matuidi has been used in different system in the past and proven himself. Covering a lot of ground needs context. Kante runs a lot to get into the the action try to win the ball. Matuidi runs a lot to cover the open area. Kante can batter some fodder but a good team and good player can exploit this type of action centered player. Matuidi did a team work which is vital in big games when great players only need a little space to influence game. Why is there nothing to suggest Kante can't improve? He has also done it in the PL where each game is a contest, instead of riding the horse in a one horse race every season. Matuidi gets forward more than Kante but the biggest asset both have is they cover a lot of ground, neither have real sustained quality on the ball, and I didn't want us to buy either of them, I was just pointing out how neither have anything like what Pogba or Pjanic would bring to United so they shouldn't be seen as a an alternative if the Pogba deal doesn't happen.
Why do people keep saying Kante didn't do well for France? After Payet he was their best player when he was in the team. After his yellow card suspension he was only kept out of the team because Sissoko played out of his mind and Deschamps didn't want to mess up the chemistry. One season. I don't argue with the rest of your post. We're clearly focus on chasing Pogba.
