Maybe Conte wants him as an option for the RCB in a back 3? I don't know the height difference between them off-hand, but Darmian has played as a CB. Though some distant memory tells me Darmian played WB as well...? Maybe I'm mistaken. He certainly hasn't looked like one in his time with us.

As for your ?, I'd take David in a heartbeat.

We sell this players for such low fees because of the poor demand for them and to allow them to match their wages here. If we don't,the players simply won't move and we end up with a Borgarde situation

I don't understand why some people are so irate over the fees we get .

Having watched a few of his matches lately, I've decided that I do want James. He's a bit overpriced, or very likely to be, but he's top drawer, and would add real class to our team.

If we got him, McTargaryan and Ibra, that's three very classy players who can be a great influence on our younger players too, confidence wise.

Like i said, not likely to happen as a full on swap.
As for the proven/unproven comparison that is to be expected as Darmian only had 1 season here, with the expected problems that follow with a new league and language. The question is who one thinks will do better next season, which depends on what position/role you want the player to fill and how you think they progress from last season.

It's not as simple as you portray it i think, though i don't necessarily disagree with your "decision" ;)

I agree with you, much due to the different roles you see them filling in the two teams. I think it would put both teams in a better position. As for wether or not Darmian plays WB, he played WB in the Belgium - Italy game didn't he? I think Conte utilizes him like that on the national team.
 
I don't believe that we want Morata. James is overrated imo and would cost above 60mil I bet. Could be spent on someone better.
