Television Succession

I was enjoying the camaraderie between the siblings in this episode as it's very rarely seen, but then the topic of the takeover came up and we were again reminded of who these people are. It's actually quite sad because they have great chemistry together when they're just goofing off and being siblings, but then business comes up and they quickly turn to cnuts again.

I mean, I know that's the whole show, but as soon as they were made aware that Kendall's name was on the paper (crossed out? Underlined!?) you could see that familial love just disappear from the faces of Roman and Shiv. Shiv in particular.

And as much as I like Greg, I wish someone would give him a fecking slap sometimes! I know his whole character is cringe, but every time he tries to fit in ("Oh, here comes the waterworks") he just makes you squirm in your seat.

Tom is still the MVP, though. "I'm here to serve"
Tom is essentially Greg right now hence all the ass kissing.

The siblings have all shown elements of the callous, cruel side of Logan over the series but none of them have really given off that empire builder vibe. The nearest thing we've seen to them finding allies or creating/buying loyalty is when the big three attempt to work with each other.

The closest the sibs get to even trying to do any relationship building is Roman, though he may have grown up too late to do enough. Which makes me think this ends up with the empire breaking up into pieces.

Stewy remains my wildcard for emerging as the power behind the throne - picking up the best fragments.

All nonsense of course, but at least I can only be wrong for a couple of weeks now :smirk:

I can only see this ending in one way, with Ken absolutely torching his relationship with his siblings and becoming ceo of waystar in the process, he has to be as much of a bastard as his dad.The Pierce deal you'd expect to come back into play, maybe shiv finds investors and goes there, frozen out of atn by Ken and roman, she was really opposed to mencken, so maybe her inheritance and shares get her Pierce and she's against Ken and roman for the election or something. Also from the trailer
mencken seems to want Connor to drop out so presumably that'll factor in as well, maybe he gets a polling boost from his dad's death

That last bit is a spoiler. Not everyone watches the trailer, myself included so cheers for that.

No matter what he does I always seem to have a soft spot for Kendall. Shiv just seems to be so annoying and the proper definition of a spoilt brat. Always Connor who is thick as mince buying the property for $64m just like that.

Tom and Greg could have their own spin off. The pair of them are absolutely hilarious. But this is one of the best shows on TV.

There has to be a spin-off, there is too many great characters been built that would be lost.

Spin offs are generally shit though. I love Tom and Greg but they work in the wider context of the show and what’s going on. Not sure it would work as a standalone.

I don't see it being Kendal, or shiv. Kendall's too obvious and cliche, and so is shiv to an extent.

Think they probably get bought out unwillingly and sail off in the sunset. One of them probably dies for good measure though.

Exactly. Connor is a successful self-made man with a keen political mind and a loving, devoted wife.
Connor started off being the sane, rational one and I swear had a complete personality transplant and became a complete douche.

Not too sure they'll be wanting to give a spin-off to the chap who plays Greg now to be honest!

not one notable publication actually reported it, looked like it was all just Twitter rumours with absolutely nothing substantiate.

The thing is though they introduced the Pierce stuff in episode 1, they mentioned mencken coming to see them last episode, with the secret service in the apartment, these seem odd things to have in final season if they aren't going to be addressed. Obviously these first few episodes have happened over a shortened time frame compared to the usual seasons, but they mentioned the election is in under two weeks, and they need to fly out and see mattson immediately. So I can't imagine they totally walk away before the election stuff, they keep atn like their dad wanted and maybe still buy Pierce but turn it into a waystar clone and keep none of its values

Just finished season 2. I’m trying to drag it out so that I can binge season 4 when it’s done. Such a good show.

I can't bring myself to start this as it looks terrible, or rather something I wouldn't enjoy. Like Billions, which I quit after about 2 episodes.

I hated Billions. Found it incredibly dull but this is so much better.
