Television Succession

Another great episode, loved Carl absolutely handing Tom his ass when he tried to throw his hat in the ring

for whatever reason they have given Carl more dialogue and I’m thankful for that. Has amazing delivery.

Shiv being annoyed at people being happy at the wake is prime shiv. Just a day earlier she didn’t go see her dads body because “he’s not gonna get mad if we won’t” with a huge smirk

The Carl, Frank, and Geri trio have so much history together and seen so much, it's awesome.

Frank is the mentor and caring one to Kendall, which is nice. But even their facial expressions and at times cringy mannerisms really highlights the odd ball yet intense discussions they are having because of how much impact the shit they do will have across the company and the world.

Hugo, oh Hugo...gonna have to get the strap on.

What's your take on her falling? That was odd, but significant down the road or just the situation getting to her?

To be fair, seemingly inappropriate humour is how a lot of people respond to grief and shock. That one wasn't really out of the ordinary, though the wake one kinda was.

That scene with Kerry was so fecking awkward.

Frank to Greg ”Nice try, son.”

Like a lot of succession, it'll probably just be one of those things that never gets mentioned again, just a red herring to maybe make us think it caused harm to her baby?

I think the smartest thing Kendall has done was make Hugo do what he asked, using the leverage Hugo gave him. Exactly what his dad would have done.

Another good episode. The amount of scheming is off the charts.

Yeah, Kendall has some moxy and funny moments and that was one of them. Good to see him get into the zone again, but still a lot of ups and downs left to come from him.

They should make a prequel to succession ie Logan Roy's rise to glory

As @esmufc07 pointed out to me earlier, Roman suddenly realising how wrong Kerry would be and asking for her private number was a nice touch.

Ideally how would you like the show to end? If there was to be a happy ending for one sibling who would you pick?

I’d probably pick Roman as he feel he’s the one that’s been manipulated the most by his dad, and the one who’s had less control over his actions due to deep psychological issues. Shiv is just entitled, Kendall has made some horrendous life choices and Keeps compounding them, and Conor is just an idiot. Their Really isn’t a single character in this show to actually like, they are all deeply flawed and constantly scheming.

Roman was compassionate to Kerry as he’s worried about that voicemail..

I can't see there being any "happy" ending, but I assume it'll end with Kendell getting to be CEO, but as he said himself, he's basically dead inside anyway, so it likely won't bring him the gratification he thinks it will. No doubt he'll also tank the Gojo deal which will leave the company in the shitter too.

another reason the show is so great is sheer unpredictability. I have absolutely no idea how it will end, I just assume that it’ll be going out with a bang. You can’t have the best episode of your 10 episode season being episode 3.

I'm counting on the third episode being an amuse bouche & the final crescendo being the main course.

I was enjoying the camaraderie between the siblings in this episode as it's very rarely seen, but then the topic of the takeover came up and we were again reminded of who these people are. It's actually quite sad because they have great chemistry together when they're just goofing off and being siblings, but then business comes up and they quickly turn to cnuts again.

I mean, I know that's the whole show, but as soon as they were made aware that Kendall's name was on the paper (crossed out? Underlined!?) you could see that familial love just disappear from the faces of Roman and Shiv. Shiv in particular.

And as much as I like Greg, I wish someone would give him a fecking slap sometimes! I know his whole character is cringe, but every time he tries to fit in ("Oh, here comes the waterworks") he just makes you squirm in your seat.

Tom is still the MVP, though. "I'm here to serve"

Tom is just as much of a cnut.

I think almost every character this actor has portrayed is extremely servile. I think he was the shop owner in Man in the high castle

Tom generally has a lot more empathy than the other characters, I think, he's just caught in a marriage with a wife who doesn't even like him (as Carl succinctly put) whilst trying to integrate into a family that don't particularly care for him or respect him. And he was finally getting somewhere with Logan, who he's always been desperate to impress, only for him to croak.

He's obviously a bully to Greg but it's a direct result of the Roy's bullying him.

Tom is great. Though he was extra snivelly and almost Greg-like this episode.

I'm a big fan of the Wambsgans.

I think there is zero chance Ken ends up the winner, especially given how things are playing out now. It would be the most anticlimactic ending ever.

Kendall CEO, Shiv and Roman both sell their shares.
