Television Succession

Didn't get that at all. Feel like I'm in opposite world.

Thought they reverted back to childish versions of themselves. The facade briefly went and they wanted their Dad.

It definitely seems to be me in opposite world!

But that said, I buried a good friend yesterday, and I'm more angry than sad since she died last Thursday, because of the circumstances, so I may be a bit mental. More than usually.

Sorry to hear that mate :(

There is a lot less theatre in the reality of death. More emotion, less theatre.
My mom's mom was on her literal last leg when my aunt called us from the hospital (she died less than two hours after the phone call). The phone scene was extremely close to what was transpiring on our end, trying to find the correct words while beginning the stages of grief over the loss of her. Sure, it may have had a theatrical flair, but the confusion, the guilt, the pacing around, the trying to act as a family when we really weren't, it all rang very true to me as I am sure it did for countless others.

Condolences, brother.

Baffled by this. I thought it was an incredibly realistic depiction of someone dying and what everyone goes through during it. There was no dramatic scene of Logan clutching his chest and collapsing. You find out at the same time as the kids and you're along for the ride as they go in circles panicking trying to get information. That is exactly how people die. A call out of the blue and you never see them again.
Yeah, I love how it just happened offscreen, and not much attention was paid to logan actually dying but more the kids finding out.

This is so so good. Few things that aren't mentioned enough:

- Logan Roy was such a cnut, the kids are actually far better people than you would expect considering who was supposed to be their idol for their entire life

- "I've got three or four people Gregging for me"

Little bit of criticism, I thought Gregg taking the news was really poor written+acted, he wasn't even surprised or even asked what happened. It's like he watched the first half hour with us, and then Tom called him, and he was completely on touch with it.

I can imagine being emotionally drained would seriously affect how you watched that episode.

It never crossed my mind until a whole day of literally everybody just 100% disagreeing with me. Usually a couple of loons agree with me.

That said, the episode is currently a 10.0 on IMDB, and I'm honestly not sure I've ever seen that before a few days after airing (or maybe at any point, ever). 16k votes too. It'll drop, but I reckon it will remain one of the highest rated episodes of television ever.

Well done me.

Ozymandias (Breaking Bad S5E14) first aired almost 10 years ago and is still rated 10.0 now.

Damn man sorry to hear that, hope you’re doing ok :(

Liked this video. Think it's very true how I am constantly back and forth between liking and despising her character. Maybe not liking but like the video says you can empathize with her at times.

Sarah is a brilliant actor.

So I didn't get to see this until last night as I was waiting until I was at my partner's house.

I honestly can't tell you if this episode was any good or not.

After avoiding spoilers all week, I happened to see this Daily Mail front page online which spoiled the big plot point.

What the feck? Has a newspaper ever put such a massive fecking spoiler as the leader on its fecking front page before?

I was fuming throughout and couldn't really take it in.

We've both lost parents and both said how they captured exactly what it's like.

I'll need to rewatch when I'm less furious with those cnuts at The Daily Mail. It would be fecking them, wouldn't it?

That's so shitty but I expect nothing less from that bunch of cnuts.

That's planned. They probably got lots of shit on Twitter etc but all that equals in social media engagement so job done.

Oh my, that is one feckup from DM. Never failing to continuously be top bellends in the world of media.

It was incrediblely well done and hit very close to home. I remember the phone call I got when my father died. The confusion and the constant what’s actually happening? And the need to take care of things and arrange shit while you’re still in grief. The suddenness with which death arrives and how surreal it feels.

Tears in my eyes while watching it. So damn powerful.

Hats off to the creators, one of the all time best pieces of television I’ve seen. Masterpiece.
