Strikers we could buy?

... as sure as eggs is eggs United is a far bigger club than Spurs.....therefore, we WILL be back.

Speaking of eggs ...

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
And all the King's horses and all the King's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

United will always get who they want. Haven't you realised this yet? ....

Really? Then I must have imagined to futile attempts to sign Bale and Modric, not to mention all the "big names" you've chased after and not got in the last 3 summers.

Even if that happens, if we're talking about supposed reasons for Kane to go to United (and we are) then swapping one EL club for another would hardly be compelling. If Kane ever wants to leave he'd have bigger fish to fry than United in the EL.

A bit presumptuous, aren't you? Who can guarantee it that the Spurs will end up playing CL next season as well whilst UTD not? Besides didn't you hear, Spurs got no money to pay Kane what he's asking. He wants more than 100k per week which is more than Spurs can deliver.

Only difference is that he would be swapping one EL club for another EL club that happens to be the biggest and most successful English club.

I don't get your troll act, if you were a fan of a club that had ever been a big deal I'd get it, but you're like a Mönchengladbach fan barking at a Bayern fan, your club hasn't done anything of note in 50 years, yet you are trying to taunt us with your team that bottled the best chance you'll have to win the league any time soon.

Try to ignore him.

He is, you just want Martial to play a different role, it's not like we are playing him as a fullback or CB, he's an inside forward, and Jose is never going to play the fluid front 3 like Barca/Dortmund/Liverpool.

Well football is moving towards that direction. Maybe Jose need to update his ways or else risk becoming another LVG. TBF the fact he played Rashford upfront instead of Rooney gives me hope.

At least we agree on something in here :)

I quite like the fact that last 2 prem games we played 4-1-4-1 formation, gives me hope that Mourinho is willing to try new things and not stubbornly stick to 4-2-3-1.

I think that 4-2-3-1 is increasingly becoming an obsolete system same as the good old 4-4-2. It leaves a too much of a big gap between defense and attack which get exploited. That is something even Gary Neville noticed which speaks volumes of how in your face that weakness is.

Considering our team we're better off with a 4-3-3 system, with Carrick/Blind-Herrera and Pogba in CM, Martial, Ibra and Mkhitaryan on the flanks. Its far from being the perfect team. Martial is not a winger and its not within his nature to backtrack + its pretty much pointless having 2 big men upfront (Pogba and Ibra) when our flank men would always opt to cut inside and try to score themselves instead of crossing. Alternatively we can play Darmian on the right and maybe move Valencia on the flank again. Its crazy but we'll finally have a real winger, who can cross.

On the long run I would really love to have a fluid forward line with wingers capable of swapping roles with forwards + being able to cross the ball.

I agree with you that Mou is changing and the fact that he played Rashford instead of Rooney gives me hope.

4-3-3 or even 3-4-3 would be great IMO. Watching Carrick, Pogba and Herrera bossing the MF against Arsenal was amazing. This 4-1-4-1 is practically 4-3-3 tho.

Exactly that fluidity and pace is what we lack in the final third. Zlatan being as old and immobile as he is really slows us down, especially knowing that we have MF trio that's more than capable of sending long passes behind the opposition defence.

If we really must play Martial on LW position we should than try with Valencia on RW and Rashford as our CF.

If we play 4-3-3 with Valencia on the flanks then we should play Ibra upfront with strict orders never to backtrack. I am not a big fan of Valencia but he does seem to have regained his crossing touch. His workrate will allow Pogba more licence to move forward + his crossing should be devastating when at the receiving end there's a 6ft3 and a 6ft5

If plan A doesn't work then by all means, replace Ibra with Rashford, Darmian with Mkhitaryan and move Valencia as RB. It will change the dimension of the team radically.

You guys really need a stronger stance on banning people. I've no idea how GlastonSpur is still around, my least liked poster on this site.

slig is not far behind mind you

I can see that working. I wrote it somewhere before that if we are to keep playing Zlatan non stop even when he's poor than he should be freed from any pressing or backtracking so that in case of some fast counter attacks he wouldn't need to run as much to get himself in the position.

Idea with fast 3 up front is that they would be interchangeable, switching positions and drifting inside out plus would keep defence on alert due to their pace and ability to make good use from those long balls Carrick and Pogba can send.

exactly!

I think he opted for Rashford over Rooney as Rooney can't hold the ball up or run in behind, Rashford can at least offer the latter, but long term I see him going for a traditional #9 like Drogba/Benzema/Costa as our main striker, like I said I think Andre Silva is the most likely option for us.

At least we agree on something in here :)

Heh! :D

If you read my post properly you'd have seen that I said even IF Spurs are playing in the EL next season then Kane would have little compelling reason - if he wanted to leave - to go join another EL club - i.e. United. He would have bigger fish to fry, namely a club playing in the CL.

TBH I was very shocked in the summer when Dembele was allowed to go to Scotland. I also thought it was a ridiculous decision by him, at that stage in his career, he needs to keep the intensity up to become the best player he can be.

We've been linked with Torino's Andrea Belotti. Along with Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal & Dotmund. Looks quick, aggressive around the penalty area, finishes well with both feet and good in the air.

I was just gonna post this, GDS are the ones carrying the story.

Standard Youtube video;

And if you have read my post properly you would have seen that "presumptuous" was referring to you thinking that UTD would be playing EL again next season. Not many bigger fish than UTD that is interested in Kane is there.

Pogba was wanted by many plethora of big clubs that have qualified for CL yet he came here. Same goes for Zlatan, Di Maria, Falcao etc.

we dont need striker, we need wingers and FB that can cross

Lol ... your delusions know no bounds. Levy won't sell and Kane doesn't want to leave ... especially not to a club playing Thursday night football.
He's currently playing for one then. At least with United he has a decent shot at winning the competition.

Once again Glaston makes all of us look like total idiots through association. Thanks mate.
One poster shouldn't be associated with other Spurs fans so you shouldn't share the blushes. I don't want to generalize as it is rarely valid for all fans of a certain team - there are always exceptions and with Glaston the boom bust cycle is great. :p

Love it how he has been banging on Spurs being in the CL and United not since the start of the season, yet they are fighting for that EL spot well before Christmas in the same year. Karma's a bitch and always will bite you in the arse.

He appears to live on a totally different planet to most of us to be fair.

in the Summer window he said that you guys didn't need anybody coming in - have a great squad as it is. One of the bestest in the league. Wonder if he feels the same now with the lack of depth in certain areas.

As for the strikers - I'd love a SS in like Dybala/Griezmann obviously that participates in the overall game as well. Apart from that - Berardi is someone we can take a punt on, who was doing excellently this season as well before that injury.

TBH I was very shocked in the summer when Dembele was allowed to go to Scotland. I also thought it was a ridiculous decision by him, at that stage in his career, he needs to keep the intensity up to become the best player he can be.

I understand your point mate but I have to disagree a wee bit.

I think it has been refreshing to see a young player like him, who is very, very good, go somewhere where he will be playing all the time (granted against teams in the SPFL who are mostly average) and also get to ply his craft in Europe. I read an article the other day that while playing in the Champions League for Celtic he has scored 3 goals in 4 games, which is more than any other player who is currently under the age of 21 that has played in the Champions League. On top of that, only Thierry Henry, Yakubu, Johan Elmander and Del Piero have a better goals per game ratio before the age of 21 that have ever played in the Champions League. I know stats can be misleading or used to any form to back up an argument, but had Dembele went elsewhere and sat on the bench or stayed at Fulham he would not be showcasing that talent and advertising all over Europe just how good he is. I agree with the intensity comment, but in two Old Firms this season he has also scored 4 goals. I know Rangers aren't as strong as Celtic, but that is still an impressive return for a young lad like him in such an intense derby. Furthermore, again the standard in the SPFL isn't great, but games are very hard and are more like wars of attrition and it often takes a spark or stroke of genius to unlock games and Dembele has proven he can do that too.

From the way he has performed so far this season, if he keeps on going with Celtic and has a great season there is no way he will still be up here in Glasgow next season and some big club will certainly pay through the nose to get him. That will be seen as a great bit of business by Celtic, but also a sound career choice by Dembele too, as he will have showcased his talent and proved (in Europe and in hard, games of attrition in Scotland) he can make a difference. This will earn him the right to move to a big club, and at least be starting once he gets a big move. (May have rambled a wee bit there, apologies!). Personally, if Zlatan decides to pack it in here after one season, I would like to see us move for Dembele, as I believe he has a really bright future.

Agree with everything you said.

I am definitely a fan too. Remember watching him play against our kids while he was at Fulham, and his reputation was huge even back then. I would have thought he'd have gone to a PL promoted team or something, but agree the regular football and CL experience will likely serve more useful in the long run. I just think he shouldn't stay too long.

Cheers man.

Yea I think he's such an exciting player to watch he could go on to have a terrific career. I agree too that he shouldn't stay too long and as I said I don't think he will, at the absolute most I can only see him staying for another 18 months or so but I think he will be getting a big move in the summer personally.

Awkwardddddddddd.

Poor old Harry. See you on Thursday fellas.

Trying reading my post properly. I said that Kane won't leave Spurs to go and play in the EL for United. You're deluded if you think otherwise.

Why wouldn't he? His current team is at Europa League level.

He would be leaving to play at a bigger more successful club.

Why won't he? Pogba already left Juventus to play in the EL for United. We can finish 7th this season and we'll still sign Champions League level players, just deal with it. Even you know you're talking shite.

Hopefully don't move for Kane though anyway, despite the fact we can easily afford him, he's not worth the money your lot will want for him.

There's no point arguing with people who havent grasped how football works, especially in the modern day. Despite our troubles over the last few seasons, Utd are still the biggest deal and draw in English football. Why werent Arsenal, Spurs, or Liverpool competing with us for Pogba? Money talks, and Kane will have noticed that our no10 shirt might just be up for grabs come June 2017. We could buy most players without Champions League, hell even Chelsea took Kante.

Because - even if they had the money - they wouldn't be stupid enough to spend such a ludicrous sum on fee + wages on a player who is nowhere near worth it.

So you seriously think Kane would leave Spurs to go and play for United in the EL? I'd say you're playing the idiot if you think so.

For a thousand and one reasons ... not least that Levy won't sell any more star players to Prem rivals. The last one was Berbatov, and that was donkey's years ago.

If you don't get this, then you by all means carry on with your delusions.
