Steven Gerrard

“There is no hiding place for a player when you go out of a tournament earlier than you expect. It can be tough and it can take an awful long time to get over it. A lot of people know that in the dressing room but there are a few young lads in there too, so it was important for them to realise what is at stake and how important this game is.
“I have been there. I have had that feeling. So I know what that feeling is about and that is the feeling I don’t want on Friday morning. It wasn’t a message to scare any of the lads but it was a wake-up call to everyone in the room. It wasn’t to scare anyone, or intimidate anyone, but this is the reality of where we are and we need everyone focused and right on it, individually and collectively, on Thursday, otherwise it is going to be a terrible, long summer.”

Should have given yourself that message eh Stevie?

And after every goal he just says "we go again." ?? Please??

Now, im not actually neutral when it comes to Liverpool players, but im neutral when it comes to England (kind of), but :lol::lol::lol:

Hes a world class bottler ain't he? Granted the defense did not cover themselves in glory either, but that header is just unbelievably bad

He followed up the header trough with horrible passes and a hopeless long shot, glad for England that it was not 30 min left of the game.

He also has a hell of a habit of winning crucial games with very little help.

Maybe in the past, he's more of a hindrance when he tries to win games by himself these days.

Your game against Chelsea was probably the best example of that when he had about 10 shots from miles out which just ultimately let Chelsea easily run down the clock. Even tonight the few minutes we had left he still managed a woeful long range effort and an awful set piece.

I like the guy, and that attitude has served him well in the past, being the main man and all that, but its clear he's not that player anymore.

Good lad, get the Liverpool lads (and that includes Lallana) home early and concentrate on his last chance of a league title. Genius, underestimated. ;)

He completely lost his shit after his error. When things go wrong it's like his head forgets that his legs are gone.

Gerrard is going to be a total liability playing two games a week. Rodgers will be terrified to drop him.

Time to say goodbye Stevie, your time has been and gone.

Gerrard's probably assisted Suarez's move to Real as well. Top assister is slippery Steve.

It's not an appropriate way to judge a player by focusing just on assists. Don't forget the key role Stevie played in setting up Suarez's first goal.

Great Liverpool combination and link up play today. The fact that England were playing Uruguay is just a side issue.

Think the criticism is a bit harsh tbh, he had to go for that was unlucky the way it ended.

Agreed, Gerrard shouldn't have been picked. But my views on England for the past 25 years have been the same. Its an old boys club (much like British politics) and I don't give a f*ck about it.

Stevie is just another old boy in the making for another 30 years with the English setup I'm afraid. That's how failure rolls in this country.

Hodgson, Rooney, Johnson, and yes even Gerrard, made no sense in a setup you're trying to change. Nothing changes, people just get older. We play our "experienced" players so they can give useful experience in FAILURE to the youngsters...so they can teach failure to the next generation, ad infinitum.

Rodgers has now firmly established himself as the most important person at LFC, not Gerrard or even Suarez. He will do what's right, rather than what an owl would do.

Not for England.. arguably not in Champions League either. One final of being incredibly influential (had plenty of help though) is hardly a habit.
