Steven Gerrard

If someone would have scripted these last few weeks, critics would have panned it for being to hokey and unnatural. There's just no way anyone could have believed this wonderful ending for Steven Gerrards season. Absolutely perfect. I dont think its quite sunk in yet, that he slipped on his arse and allowed them to remove their hands from the trophy that they've waited 20-odd years to win. Seriously, keep saying it to yourself. It sounds like you've made it up. But it actually happened. Captain Fantastic blew if for them. Hilarious. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

And I'm not bitter. I hated Gerrard when we won the Champions League, when we won the league, when Liverpool were finishing 7th, when we won the Charity Shield. Its just a wonderful thing to happen to such a total dickhead.

In all seriousness, how does someone like a huge footballer bounce back from a season ending like this, surely its enough to break someone mentally.

John Terry (somewhat) came back from his very similar slip in the CL final 2008.

Mind you he was only 27 at the time, whereas Gerrard is 33, the age Terry is now.

Think he's destined never to win it, as we all predicted. And now he can hold himself personally culpable. Heart bleeds.

Thing is, Gerrard had almost certainly given up on ever winning the PL before the start of the season. Then all this happens....

It really is the hope that kills you.

I think he'll win it, but this was likely his last chance to do so while being the driving force behind the team.

Even the Gods are trolling Gerrard

Any chance these guys can get in first game of next season (assuming everything goes to plan) and unfurl a "Chadwick 1, Gerrard 0" banner?

2009 was brutal too, even worse for Liverpool fans IMO. They were on the verge of winning the league, and that too against us. Pipping us to second is a world away from pipping Chelsea or City.

They were on the rampage back then too in spring 2009 and we were stumbling. And then Federico fecking Macheda ruined their chance for the league. It was almost miraculous what transpired in those two matches that Macheda won for us. With Macheda turning out to be a bit of a dud, its even more astonishing to realise that we won the league basically on the back of a one-hit wonder.

I clearly remember absolutely shitting it in 2009. That would have been a horrific season if Liverpool had won it. Just remember it would have meant us not winning the 18 and hence not equalling Liverpool's record. 19-17. And it would have probably meant that Sir Alex would have retired without officially beating that league record of theirs.

And Rafa's rant wouldn't be quite so funny had they won the bleeding league that year.

But I really do feel for Liverpool fans though. That feeling of almost winning something and then having it snatched away is fecking heartbreaking. I'm sure every United fan remembers the last day of the 2011/2012 season. I'd imagine Gerrards slip is the equivalent of the Aguero moment for Liverpool fans.

Yep me too..... Are you completely mad? Still, agree with most of your post

Ah the face of a man that will Captain England in this Summers World Cup, which is great if your Scottish, or Irish, magnificent if your Welsh but as an Englishman I can't help feeling slightly reserved.

What if you're the descendent of the English, Scotch, Irish and Welsh like myself? I was planning on laughing at all of them/us.

There was a young man called Steven
he was a captain that you could believe in
gave a great fecking speech
but the league's out of his reach
so feck it, none of us grieve him!

Steven Gerrard (Dec 2013): "I am enjoying Man United’s terrible form"

Don't feel sorry for this bottler. Prick.

Keep those gifs and pics coming.

On sunday, someone needs to do a comparison of Gerrard kissing the camera and City's captain kissing the trophy.
Better when it was us with the trophy , but we'll take what we can get!

Maybe if he hangs around as part of the squad for the next 20years....but if you don't realise THIS was his chance, you're a little deluded.
