Television Star Trek

The ending didn't feel right i.e. if we are to believe this is a a darker more realistic version of trek.

It was underwhelming. The villian was really unbelievable. They should reduce the amount of fake CGI and go to a more traditional look like Enterprise had.

The villian was actually a recurring character in TOS, so not much they could really do with him.

I thought it was another very good episode.

This show is great, I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

I like it more and more. Never been a big trekkie though, even though I've seen most of it except the original.

I really enjoyed this episode. I wasn't particularly enjoying the long drawn out main story episodes.. It felt more like old Star Trek, which I rather liked. Really liked the bad guy too. Nobody wants a more serious, darker anything anyway - they just tend to be shitter versions.

I find this series to be pretty meh.

From the average acting, to average story line. It just isn;'t for me. Will finish it because I have way to much time on my hands.

Pretty much how I feel. Frustrating since I have to watch it because I'm such a big Star Trek fan but still have to endure the mediocrity.

I'm not a star trek nerd, but I watch some of the old ones with shatner when they are on at stupid o clock in the morning.

Just watching ep1 of discovery now and it's just as cheesy really  don't know how many episodes I will last tbh.

The middle of TNG (with Patrick Stewart) and most of DS9 is IMO the best Trek of all the series.

I find the makeup and consumes ridiculous in all of them, they go well out of their way to be as ridiculous as possible imo. Also the skin tight uniform is cheesy as hell  I don't think I could sit through a full series of the older treks, but I might try doing the full first season of this.

It's definitely not a universally liked show, and the cheesiness is a big part of that. I can't take it when it goes over-the-top like in some of the older (Kirk/Spock/McCoy) episodes, but I think TNG and particularly DS9 cut that out a lot. (though the clothes remain ridiculous except near the end of DS9)

I'm watching a lot of Enterprise episodes lately. Probably my favorite of the shows at the moment.

Nothing has changed much really has it? Can see why it draws in the normal crowd.

Let the baddies shoot you till your shields are low, say hold, wait, not yet, the crew all panic "captain ..." Captain gives his order, they win.

Tried and tested I suppose  quite enjoying it even though it's completely obvious!

Enterprise got a lot of undeserved crap thrown at it. For me Season 3&4 of enterprise was second only to ds9.

Agreed. The writing is good and the sets and characters are believable. I liked Bakula as a captain as well.

I do not like it. Enjoyed most of the Treks(DS9 the best for me but even that could not match the mighty Babylon 5) but I am not a continuity/canon zealot. It looks good, in a JJ Abrams modern Trek way, but the writing and dialogue is subpar. Not sure there is a character I actually like, they may be going for a grittier, less idealized version, "Look at us, we can say feck in Star Trek" but it has little impact when you are unmoved by the characters.

Klingons are a disaster, most of their dialogue heavy scenes are a chore to watch. I really hope it improves and stops trying to force social commentary until they improve the writing.

Is this weeks episode worth watching? (:D think i'm going to check here from here on out!)

Weak episode, though it's kind of part 1 ahead of next week so...

Oh I forgot about it. War heavy? Or more Trek-y like the previous week?

Given that it's a 2-parter, I'm assuming war.

Loved that show. First season was a bit meh, but season 2,3 and 4 were great. Just cannot get into this new series no matter how much I try.

Loved this weeks episode. I am enjoying this a lot so far.

Been watching a lot more Entreprise lately. Definitely my fave series at the moment. The way a proper Star Trek series should be.

Funny enough I’m doing the same. I used to take the hard nosed stance that seasons 3&4 are only worth working. But seasons 1&2 have some gems.

I watched a few season 2 Enterprise episodes yesterday - Deadstop, Mauraders, and Singularity . Some pretty good quality there. About to get into season 3 in a bit.

Ah the xindi arc was so good. Think I preferred it to season 4 by a hair. They should get the writers back that did those seasons.

Im not having Clem Fandango as head of security.

The only reason enterprise was canceled was because of trek fans.
