Television Squid Game (Netflix)

I don't understand how 456 didn't immediately suspect 001 of being one of them?
He consistently gave him the look over the course of the season but to be fair to the writers while some times 001 acted quite suspiciously the other times he did things that would've been unexpected from a guy who was planted in (by himself, actually, but that part would've been impossible to guess from the outside).

I thought the first episodes were as good as you can expect a second season of such a show to be — where the surprise factor plays such a huge part and you simply can't replicate that; so, overall entertaining but not earth-shatteringly good. The last episodes and the ending fell a bit flat.

And yeah, it was hard to connect to any of the new characters.

Okay finished the season now. Overall certainly not as good as the first season, which was to be expected with a show that has a strong concept/gimmick but sometimes not as strong in other areas

Firstly the characters and writing. The characters were worse than the first season, less interesting and the death of the friend at the end was far more emotional for me last time around with the thief girl. Here we have an ex marine knowingly taking on organization who produce the game, he has a gun and a chance. They failed and he dies. Sucks for our main character but its very different to the poor girl in the first one who is already injured and the guy takes her out in her bed.

Thanos brought the bad English back from towards the end of the first series, but this time with a stupid character who is full cringe all the time. He wasnt imposing, he had no depth and was just an annoying villain. The only threat he had was the threat that I might just turn the show off because I can't stand to watch it anymore if they keep focusing on him. Min-Su and the girl who had defended him earlier on was one of the most dissappointing parts for me. Why did they have to have him continue to be a coward who fumbled the chance to save her when he had the bottle above the guy trying to kill her? It was the perfect time for him to grow some balls and vindicate his previous actions. Instead he just let her die. I'm pretty sure in the next season he'll kill the guy who killed her. Its not enough, that wont vindicate him.

Its been a long time since I saw the first season but judging the fight scenes in this one... The gun shooting is fine, but when they go hand to hand combat a lot of it is complete nonsense. For example when #1 fights the couple of guys early on, he toe pokes someone on the shin then kicks them in the gut. This guy is screaming on the floor unable to do anything. If anyone has ever been in a contact sport you'd know this wouldnt hurt. He then hits someone in the stomach and then does a quick strike lower to their knee. The stomach shot would hurt but striking someone's knee with your fist is going to break your knuckles. Terrible idea. He does it fast so you're probably not supposed to understand what he acually does, but this is some kung feckoff if I've ever seen it. They need to hire someone who can show them moves that someone might actually do in combat.

Like the first season the concept is strong and they were able to add the beginning part of trying to find the man in the subway and the location of the island. It did slow the show down and delay the games but I think it made sense to have this part to make it seem more realistic.

The one good twist, although we've yet to see it pay off in any way, was the girl working in the furry costume who we probably assume is going to be one of those competing and shes actually #11 one of the guards in pink. I didnt see that coming but again we've yet to see it play into anything. It could just be to show that the staff are just normal people and then they do this. But I would think she'll have a moment to "come good" later on.

I think it was worth watching as a follow up to the first season, but if next season theres someone as annoying as Thanos, or some of the other parts where the writing or action is poor I might not bother.

I'd go 6.5/10 or so for season 2, having felt the first season was like a 7.5 - 8/10

Just watched the first episode - brilliant. Really avoids the cliche, although i suspect it will be difficult to keep it up to match season 1.

I’m rewatching hing the first season and it is quite a bit better tbh, but I still enjoyed season 2.

I think season 1 makes a better effort of showing how desperate the players were to be in the game to begin with, and then re-enter the game afterwards.

Season 2 didn’t really need to show something like this again, but it helped connect with the characters of season 1, which season 2 doesn’t do.

Really didn't expect that ending.

I didn't know it would be only 7 episodes with obviously S3 to come I guessed they would wrap it up. Makes S2 better for that for me.

Enjoyed it quite a lot, with it being as dark as the first season while being quite a bit different.

Prediction for season 3: 456 will be so broken by the end of it, that he will become the new man with the black mask.

I dislike the premise of the show, which is stupid and revolting. Haven‘t watched and will not.

I think the premise is something that given enough pressure absolutely could happen in some form in real life.

Maybe not giant dolls with camera eyes but the idea of getting a group of desperate people together to compete in dangerous and life threatening games isn’t so far from being a reality in my mind.

The human psychology aspect of gambling etc is also very realistic as a portrayal of those who don’t know when to stop.

Finished it.

I thought the first six episodes were great, maybe not season 1 great, but still great.

But the last episode was so rushed. It almost feels like they planned a 10 episode season again, had it all ready to go, but then them or Netflix decided actually no, let’s split it into two, so they had to tamper on a hatchet job ending cliffhanger to keep it going. Just bizarre.

Final episode was rushed but overall I throughly enjoyed it. Not as good as season 1 but when we knew the next season was coming next year and it was already filmed I fully expected an ending of that nature.

I strongly believe this is the case.

The thing is I think there's other material they could use for Squid Game. Netflix will try to turn this into Money Heist

I genuinely didn't know there was S3 so it worked OK for me. 001 was brilliant.

I enjoyed it until last episode. Last episode doesn't have any sense.
Why would other "players" stand with Gi-Hun in his "rebellion"? Zero logic in that.

Overall, great show.

Because they want to leave the game

Spoiler spoiler spoiler
They signed (and survived many scary shit) for the money. They don't care for management. So, they can fight with "O" team to have upper hand in voting or risk their lives and play next game (and leave with the money).
Instead they chose to risk their lives for nothing.

Stupid plot at the end.

Because they want to leave the game
I kinda agree with him, though. They wanted to leave the game but loads only wanted to leave (including his best pal) once they had enough money accumulated. All of a sudden they’re happy to forego the money and stage a mutiny? It was a really silly, rushed ending.

They were going to be killed by the remainers. What's more if they get to the control room they can get to the cash

Because they are seeing so many die and figure their best chance of getting out is to fight.

To support this, it is really only X's who join him, and they have just beeb murdered enmass moments earlier, meaning they have no chance of winning a vote to leave.

Of all the complaints, I didnt find this an issue.

It ends with 456 and 001 as the final two somehow. Not sure how it gets to that but the rest of it’s been a bit predictable.

Not as good as season 1.

Liked it, S1 was better since it was completely unknown at that point.

This feels more like season 2 part A
I'll reserve full judgement until after part B (or season 3 as they will call it I guess)

It was decently watchable but actually stupid shite when you think about it. It depends on a main character just being stupid, and a lot of the supporting cast doing things that help the plot rather than themselves.
