Television Squid Game (Netflix)

I don’t know whose comment I read on here recommending Alice in Borderland but I just wanted to say whoever you are feck you. It was so crap that I wanted to stop watching it but thought it must get better that’s why people recommended it. Spoiler alert it gets worse. That show truly wasted 8 hours of my life.
Excellent. Glad you wasted your time.

I liked season 1, although I think it was hugely overrated. I don’t think a season 2 is necessary

Feels like a show that was complete in one season, I really don’t think a second is needed.

I kinda agree with this. I knew they wouldn't be able to resist squeezing as much money out of it's popularity as possible though.

Looking forward if they do more games we played as a kid. Floor is made of lava would be fecked up

This is good news. I like a Boxing night tucked up with drinks and snacks instead of bothering with other people these days.

Started a re-watch of season 1 in advance. Good job as I really don't remember all that much.

I just finished Season 2 and I know we'll get the lazy "it's not as good as season 1" comments but I think it was about as good as they could have made it.

it was quite clear that when it was 7 episodes it was a half season even if they don't admit it. Netflix will prolong it by making it a half season or even a three parter.

Even so, I think there's more you can get out of the franchise like front man's backstory or the first edition of the games

One gripe I have is that player 456 was so naive not thinking they'd change the games. That much seemed obvious nor that he didn't suspect player 001 of having some significance after what happened with Oh Il nam.

Speaking of Oh Il Nam, I think the mum and son will turn out to be his.

Oh I posted in the wrong thread. I’m enjoying this season more than the first so far!

It was great, but it felt way too rushed at the end.

Seems fairly clear to me that the ending was designed in a way that would keep the main in the game for the third season.

They will probably restart the game for season 3 now, with the remaining players starting again with new players.

There was no real resolution to any of the story arcs either, so it’s all set up with season 3 mind. As some one else said it felt more like half a season.

Big drop off in writing quality and intrigue as expected.

First episode was fantastic. Gong Yoo coming in with the tour de force. Hoping other characters will be fleshed out more in this season.

Holy Hell. The end of E3 was awesome.

Enjoying it so far how they are making a twist on the same events of S1.

I have one episode to go (though I am struggling to see how they finish everything in one go) but I prefer this season

First season was obviously good but I was worried it would somehow just be the same and not interesting side characters. I like that there is less focus on the games (though still a lot for tension) but more about the people

Overall, disappointing. The first 2-3 episodes were the best but it got worse as it went on I thought. Didn’t find the new characters as interesting as the first season. Most of them were just straight up annoying. The games weren’t as good either.

It’s what I expected really. The guy that made this intended for it to be 1 season but the Netflix money for more seasons was too good. I couldn’t blame him though. I’d do the same.

Must admit I was watching while doing other things, but i thought the opposite of others, that the first couple of episodes took a while to get going, and the Red Light Green light episode was where it really got properly going, then was a match for the first series.

Nice finish, but thought the overthrow it all was a bit too long before that.
But it didn't come as a surprise to find they filmed season 3 at the same time as season 2 and it's coming in 2025!

I thought it was a terrible season. None of the new characters playing the game evoked the same kind of emotions that the main characters in the first season did. The island hunt storyline went no where and was a major drag. The "001" storyline made very little sense and its sole purpose seem to be have the antagonist in the mix.

The "Thanos" guy is the worst character I can remember seeing in... Anything
Yeah, genuinely terrible.

I watched the first 3 episodes, and it seems to be more of the same, but worse. I'll watch it til the end cause it's harmless TV, but I don't have much hope that it'll actually be any good.

I don't understand how 456 didn't immediately suspect 001 of being one of them?
