Television Squid Game (Netflix)

Ah nice, earlier then expected. What a shit ending though.

June 27 can't come quick enough. In the meantime:

I enjoyed it. Had no idea I was on the final episode so it’s made me crave more.

The end of the first episode was sensational.

The start and end to the show were absolute trash. The episodes in the middle, with the actual squid games, were nice and enjoyable.

I went back and saw the first episode of the first season, the difference in quality between that and the first two episodes of season 2 were glaring.

Not really looking forward to season 3.

I enjoyed the ending, only because I was expecting a resolution which didn’t come. That was a nice surprise.

It was frustrating to begin with, I wish we’d gotten into the games sooner. Though the parts with the Russian roulette guy were great.

The supporting cast was weaker this season, fewer of the players were interesting. While I enjoyed Thanos, he wasn’t the villain that Deok-su was, which added a dimension to season 1 we’re missing here.

Thought Thanos was great and very cool that he was being played by a former K-pop legend TOP from BigBang. The lad was kind of playing himself.

Subs made it good - the dubs were horrific.

I never watch anything with dubs it's usually horrible.

David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club) is apparently developing a Squid Game USA! And we’re getting much more…

I've said before they should do these shows but calling it a cinematic universe is a cringe misnomer. CU's are on the way out, Marvel has done it to death and we'll it's not actually at the cinema. It's a TV show!

This was the high point for me and the best scene of the series. I found it quite boring after this and lacking characters with any depth.

This was a great scene though, so was disappointed when I realized I wasn’t in for more of that.

Yeah the other character in that scene was great. I’m glad we got more of him this season.

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll make sure these are our last words in the subject.
Heh! Wasn't a dig at you, just the thought of an American version doesn't fill me with a lot of excitement.

American version might be alright if they mix up the games rather than just copy the Korean ones. Pass the parcel and the parcel is an actual explosive, or musical chairs and each person that doesn’t get a chair is shot etc

Tag and the person who is "it" when the timer ends gets shot.

Cops & robbers, the losing team gets wiped out.

So many possibilities, but this is Hollywood. We'll end up with Red Light Green Light and Tug of War.

American version could be alright with good people on board. Inequality and guns are the back of the US so Squid Game makes sense though obviously the games would need to change, would they even play the Squid game at the end?

Ha well let's be positive. All depends on the people they pick.
I’d definitely think the Americans would attack the pink suits. It could be interesting in examining how people from different cultures would react.

In the US the police would know about the games and help cover them up.

Or the police are the ones running it ...

Perhaps running the players within the game, but they’re not powerful enough to be behind the game.

However those who are will be rich enough to own the police.

It doesn’t seem interesting, to me, to look at what would happen if the government/police tried to stop the games.

Especially with the Age of Oligarchs upon us, the idea authority will save people only makes sense to Christian fascists.

Zuckerberg, musk, bezos et all being the rich sponsors as San Francisco’s homeless kill each other for their amusement. Not that far fetched a premise

Just finished season 2, thought it was brilliant. Really good show and entertaining throughout. Bit of a short season though, agree with others it seems like they split a season in two. Looking forwards to the finale.

When only 3 out of 7 episodes were good… that’s not a good follow up. Bit like season 2 of the bear.
Love that these are two consecutive posts

The 8 show is another one to check out if you like this genre of games. The 8 show takes place all in the one building, buts it is brilliant. They should have done it in america though, it would have gotten more traction. It had to compete with squid game, which it was never going to match.

This has been a really good show overall but I still prefer Alice in Borderland personally.

I strongly disagree, I really wanted to like AIB but it just went away too far out from where it started.

Squid Game does a great job of grounding the show in the emotions of the players, their normal conversations between the games.

My mind goes to all the wonderful scenes of normalcy sprinkled throughout LOTR, especially between Sam and Frodo, which are some of the best parts. Battles are few and short.
